Re: Fields of the technocracy and my thread: http://forum.theonyxpath.com/forum/m...ropy-redundant

I don't see a tight summation of your Fields for the Technocracy. Your new 8 groups described in bits and bobs over a whole thread, with the initial post having 12 fields. If you start a new thread or reference a more recent one I can give better comments on what you've decided on.

  • I have a real struggle seeing this happen. Parts of a convention might defect. It's easy to see any defect to the SoE or VA's.

    Vehicle Modifications

Back when M20 was being developed, on a podcast or YouTube vid... Phil B. Or someone on m20 blog post mentioned something about new rules for coincidental vehicle mods. I don't recall us getting those, unfortunately.

This is not meant as a complaint, it is what it is.

What I was curious about was asking the forum what kind of magic mods would you want to add to a Vehicle?

And what would you want to mod in the first place? I.e. sports car, minivan, truck etc.

I would want a sports car that has:

    Some Kind of stealth mode
    Lowered...

  • There is the book: Werewolf the Wildwest. It might be a good place to start as well. I think just some creativity on your own and with your group would be enough. Anything more and you'd never stop.

  • It's something that can be easily houseruled using consistent multiple. Some might find that smacks of D&D-isms though.

Have you posted this on the ars magica forum? I'd throw it up on the ars magica reddit: reddit.com/r/arsmagica http://forum.atlas-games.com/

I have Ars Magica but not the Storypath system. This needs some more explanation to have wider appeal and get people to have a sense of how it will work out in play. I think you have some good ideas though.

    replied to Hyperbolic Time Chambers?
Good point, the assumption is that one would use a Hyperbolic Time Chamber in a Sanctum, a Realm, or the Umbra.

Right, I can see a year:day hyperbolic time chamber causing problems. (Also, it would require 730 successes to pull off, so such a huge ratio likely doesn't exist anyways.)

That makes sense. What I'm curious about is heavy sustained use of them over time. So, say someone has a chamber with 5days per day ratio. Say they live in there the bulk of their time for a couple months. They'll have 8 extra months experience/knowledge. That...

    Hyperbolic Time Chambers?

I've been thinking. If someone created a Hyperbolic Time Chamber (where time moves much faster in the chamber) than without, how would training in there incur paradox or not? The assumption is that one would use such a vulgar device in a sanctum, Realm, or the Umbra.

The basic effect is Time 3. Maybe higher because effecting an area and not just one person?

If, say, someone adds a life 4 effect that causes aging at an inverted rate so to an outside observer, the person ages normally. (i.e. Chamber is 10x faster than normal, but people age at 1/10 the rate). Would this...

I always think of what I want to play first, and then build my concept around that. Technically, I suspect in oWoD most awakened people join the first faction to pick them up, regardless of personality/education/profession.

  • What they should have done was a quick line at the bottom explaining how the costing out worked. Then players would have guidelines they could follow. Unfortunately, while Phil Brucato writes amazing fluff and is a very creative guy... Mechanics and rule consistency are not his strong point. ...

  • The m20 core says 1 to 3 "points" per dot... amd then pretty much costs things out at 2 points per dot. And sometimes not even that. I don't get it myself. I assume 2 background or freebies per dot is the basic cost.

  • Back to the original topic...

Phil Brucato mentioned one of his book ideas was a "how to" on being rich and powerful. There are many a background that implies a hefty pull in the mortal world, and how to RP that as well as understanding how the 0.01% actually live would be fascinating. This is a new area in ethnographic sociology and there is very cool research I've read on this topic.

If any intrepid authors want to take a stab at that and publish it in the ST vault it would do well.

Apologies for the repetition. Maybe there is room for re-imagining Entropy. But from a mechanical POV, it can't be "everything other spheres do but better."...

Entropy does what other spheres do but better. It does rather little that is mechanically unique, this is bad. The few actually distinct bits should be rolled up with Time or Mind....

I feel rethinking the spheres, what they do and how many is critical.

Entropy, as written, is an Ur-sphere that does things other spheres do. It IMO needs to be deleted. All the fate/destiny manipulation stuff can be rolled into Time with little mechanical adjustment.

    http://forum.theonyxpath.com/forum/m...ropy-redundant

Having higher spheres be more difficult to use punishes players. They start off very weak and it takes a very long time (absent a co generous ST) to get a few spheres at 4 or 5....

  • Great thread. I had a combat/noncombat XP divide for an Exalted game and it became a staple house rule in all future games.

The game sounds quite interesting and I hope to see more updates.
