Rating your Sorcerous Working's Circle and Ambition

So, it's become clear that it's not always easy to determine a given Working's Ambition: there's always a degree of interpretation left to the GM, and not all of us are good at making snap decisions. So, as ATG suggested in the Dev thread, let's see if we can get a thread started to allow open discussion/sharing of opinions on everyone's Workings, and possibly try and finagle a rough scale.

To get the ball started, I had to work up a Working when a player asked a Sorcerer NPC to help him with amnesia. It felt really simple, so I left that one as Terrestrial, although I did bump it...

How about a variation on the Invulnerable Skin of Bronze spell: a Working granting permanent soak and/or hardness, with the legendary secret weaknesses being the result of botches/lack of finesse. It's not absolute, but at higher tier, good enough to look absolute to mere mortals....

Sounds about right. I was thinking more of a system where the Sorcerous Working REPLACED the Attribute xp cost. But combining both costs seems a fair deal.

Ambition 3 Working cost, potentially down to 4 for an Ambition 3 Terrestrial done by a Solar Circle Sorcerer.

Well, you COULD do an Attribute bonus (and it would probably make sense if it's tied to Lunar themes and such), but once again, a +1 in an Attribute is MASSIVE, and don't get me started on +1 Dexterity.
Even when paying full xp and dropping it under Ambition 3, we're still talking about 8xp. Compare with, say, Dexterity 5 costing 16xp, even if you refuse to count it for Excellency caps, you "only" lose on the Excellency cap increase, but either gain a permanent cap-breaker (if the bonus is non-Charm) or a permanent Excellency discount (if it is). It's still pretty strong.

Technically, the text is "Immortality has a catch" and "No Ressurection".
It's probably worth a topic in and of itself as to what kind of catches would be cool, but let's leave that answer to our glorious devs.

Unrelated, but I wanted to give that question another go: Foe-Vaulting Method, does it boost the next attack (probably on the next turn), or does it create a new attack on the same turn that gets the buff?...

Gah, didn't re-check my post. scrap the "non-" But I guess you get the general idea: 1 dice isn't always worth the same. Combat > non-combat, with a degree of variation (i.e. Sail is typically worth less than say Presence)

Stunts and willpower feel a tad easy to get away with, honestly. A specialty could be nice, but I'm a tad worried to get a "when using swords"-kind of not-really-a-limitation.

Without thinking too hard, I think you should consider the importance of the roll. When I look at RAW, it seems you can go from 1-dot-of-Merit-per-specialty-equivalent (Iron Stomach) for niche rolls to 3 or 4 dots a pop for very narrow but critical rolls (Fleet of Foot and Fast Reflexes). So we're talking between 3 and 12xp's worth in Merits.

My call would be: as a Terrestrial Working,...

You could cut the deal in two, allowing sorcery to grant a merit that gives a 1-to-3-die (I'd say Charm, but I haven't thought about it that much) bonus for one specific type of roll, with a potential limitation for broadly useful type of rolls.

That way you get the extra dice without the silly dicecap issues of a straight up Ability/Attribute increase.

    New offering

Good, the true game is now afoot.
Also, Allison, this is why one invests in a couple Integrity Charms. Transcendent Hero Meditation sounds about right at this point.

The wording was iffy, but sweet mother of baby Jesus, it's just too a) awesome, b) hilarious, c) awesome AND hilarious to not adopt at first sight.

Which means I need to re-think my Five-Score Fellowship as a group of middle managers that keep pestering one another with the most inane thing.

"Hey Summer Blossom, could you countersign my request for postposing the death by disease of this guy?"
"What? This is the department of seasons, what have you been smoking?"
"Well, I saw Nine Thunders Together down at Humanity, but he told me...
