Alright, I know its mostly DB question time now but I have some more Solar Brawl questions.

So Lightning Strikes Twice allows you to make a second attack against a target affected by CWT or HTH. Does this mean that you just roll a Brawl attack (either withering or decisive) or can you use Simple charms that create attacks as well?

Building on the previous question Heaven Fury Smite says that it resets you attack action as long as you make a decisive attack. Does this allow for the use of simple charms that create Decisive attacks? If yes what about charms that create...

  • They are not that much of an equalizer if we are talking about the monster Dawn white room scenario. The big punch charms still have restrictions on their use and require set up that you will never get against a super min-maxed Dawn. Two or three versus one more laid back Dawn at low essence is definitely doable.

I mean Crumplepunch had 3 combat focused DBs (melee and brawl do not remember the 3rd) focus attack a supernal Resistance and he was gaining initiative even after being grappled and under control for some rounds. But then again Resistance can do that against other solars...

Oh, that was not my intent and just to clarify I love the DB charmset and am completely fine with where they stand powerwise. The basic premise of my post still holds true in white room fights, so the correct thing to do is what you suggested and do not let combat focused Dawns white-room you. I mean I could run an actual simulation, if I was not too lazy to set it up, (usually 10000 repeats) like I did for combat focused werewolf vs combat focused vampire in the Werewolf subforum a few years back but I think its pretty clear in this case what the result will be....

Versus the combat monster Dawn that was described earlier nothing really changes because most of the powerful DB charms you will never get to use and when you do they will probably not even hit. One on one even when super combat focused against the laid-back Dawn you will still get destroyed. Two-three DB combat monsters versus one laid-back Dawn is doable for sure at lower essence values....

  • Of course, an Essence 3 Dynast be a threat to a Dawn, but it also depends on how much investment each of them has in his combat charms. If the Dawn is something like 12 charms in Melee or Brawl with 3 Ox Bodies he will still go through the E3 DB quite easily, but if you assume that having 3-4 Melee charms you will not die versus a combat focused DB you are in for a rude awakening.

Also, one versus twelve at least at E1 is impossible.

  • I will be unoriginal and go with the Elemental Bolt up to Dragon Vortex attack. Why? Because I love awesome displays of raw elemental power of course.

The Air War Signature charm is something that is very close to my heart but the whole War tree has made me want to play a young DB officer for sure....

Hmm, I guess that could cause some problems but still, I will find it and gift it to him ...

So long story short, our Storyteller dropped some hooks about the whereabouts of Stormcaller. Now my treasure hunter Night, with help from our Twilight, wants to find the sword as a personal challenge and gift it to our circle's Dawn who is a practitioner of SPSItV because he saved my life numerous times and I legitimately believe that such a great swordsman deserves to wield the most powerful blade.

My question is how exactly will the blade interact with that particular martial art. I guess you do not literally need to draw and sheath the blade on each attack unless the charm explicitly...

  • But what do you see in the text? Do you think that the gap is too big or what?...

  • Well we knew that the gap between DBs and Solars will still be significant, although smaller in this edition. Its exactly there I think....

Well in most campaigns this won't even be a factor since Solars and Abyssals will only get their super powerful stuff at essence 5. I mean my group is playing for over a year straight and we are still not at 5 essence (although we are not the most fast progressing group I must admit). Before that, they only have their excellencies and their native charms which might give them a slight edge.

Also, sorcery gives unparalleled versatility and access to effects outside the purview of one's charm suit, which is always a huge boon.

Most importantly, they still can attempt solar...

  • Damn those 800s are always gone so fast!!! I will probably go for the custom charm, I always regret not going for it during the Corebook kickstarter!
