Okay, cool, I was honestly worried I'd missed something in plain sight.

And I swear I'm not trying to be annoying about this, because I understand what you're saying. But the Core book is very clear on how much Super Science Neutrals and Talents get and how they get it, and I haven't gone over the Aberrant book as much but it seems pretty clear on "this is how you get Q-Tech and this is how much you get," but it's not addressed anywhere in Aeon or the Aexpansion. There's too much "maybe it works this way?" for me in the Psion system, which is why...

    1) What are you basing that on?
    2) I'll start making a list, I guess. Isn't this why editors exist, though?
    3) Yeah, the only examples of Super Science items so far are Psi Gauntlets and VARG powers. But, again, what are you basing your answer on? There are no rules anywhere supporting your answer one way or the other.
    4) I doubt 7 dot powers are going to come up very often in-game! But I do concede that the possibility of detection needs to be addressed....

Oh, and because I feel like I'm only ever complaining:

    1) I do love the Psiads. The system here is very similar to a system I had mocked up for myself, so obviously it's brilliant

    2) I freaking LOVE the explanation about how formatting to a device allows you to control it mentally and sense through its sensors. That is super cool and makes biotech even more awesome than it already was, and opens up all sorts of cool stuff you can do. Biodrones are so cool! And I love all the stuff with formatted biocomps working to make users more comfortable and the potential impacts...

    1)

Can we get clarification on this? The Psiad template doesn't say anything about an extra free Mode dot, so I don't know where you're getting this from.

I feel like the Psiad template needs to be clarified overall, actually. It doesn't even state anywhere what your starting Psi is--it can be inferred from the Psi chart that it's 2, but it isn't explicit anywhere. The template seems to be assuming that we're going to be using the Psion template as a base and modifying it for Psiads, but that is inevitably going to cause some confusion, as illustrated by this thread....

Some kind of ooze monster, maybe? Maybe a giant amoeba like thing.
There was also an old (unofficial?) supplement adventure about genetically modified monsters in Antarctica, which were like the Alien if it was crossed with a giant ant. Bugs and oozes tend to make good enemies if you want to avoid moral quandaries.
BEngiBeasts and other genetically modified killing machines can also be pretty straightforward foes, unless your party decides they want to try to save or tame them.
Predators like you'd find in Pitch Black or Jaws could also work. I forget if it's 1E or 2E, but one...

  • It's no different than the established effect, which inflicts "Difficulty equal to the number of successes rolled to her rolls for a number of Rounds equal to the psion’s Mode Dots" to ALL of a living target's actions....

  • Okay, yeah, that makes sense and solves all of my other problems, then. I keep forgetting about the changes to Tolerance between 1E and 2E; neutrals couldn't format or even use much biotech in 1E, so it was mostly psion-only, and there was usually little reason not to format it. All of the 2E changes should make unformatted bioware much more common....

  • Oh wow, I was not expecting such a big response. Sorry, I was late to the game and missed both the Aeon and Aberrant kickstarters, so I'm playing catch up (honestly, I only got copies of the various manuscripts via various filesharing sites. I'm super excited for the actual books and pdfs to be available for purchase!)

Haven't tested it out yet, obviously, but this all looks solid to me.

I think this could use some tightening up.
    1) When you say "unformatted bioapp," do you just mean that it isn't formatted to the EK, or that...

  • I mean, it would certainly be easier if Technokinesis worked on biotech, but it explicitly doesn't as written ("Technokinesis controls the flow of electricity and data through non-living machinery.") And I would probably houserule that Precision Understanding and Access work like Tap/Access/Control for biotech, but again, as written, they explicitly do not allow that, and Anima is dramatically less useful than Access/Control anyway (with regards to tech--it's obviously got a ton of non-tech applications, so I'm not actually mad at it.)

And yes, I know about all the ways...

started a topic Electrokinesis and biocomps

    Electrokinesis and biocomps

Why is Orgotek so focused on biotech, when their Aptitude gives them so much more facility with hardtech? The average low-level EK can't do anything to use or affect biotech that any Joe on the street can't do. Is there something I'm missing?

An EK can use Tap (Techno 1) to read a hardtech computer, or Access/Control (Techno 2/3) to totally control any hardtech electronic system, from computers to guns to vehicles. However, they require at least Anima (Electromanipulation 4) to have any control over biotech, but that only lasts for a few rounds and doesn't even let them read any data...
