  • Hi all, I would like a translation for "the First Sword". "The" is included as a reference that it'll be used as a title. I looked through the provided documents and found references for "first" and "sword", but honestly I'm a little confused by the sheet layout and not sure how to put it all together Could I get help with a translation please?...

  • The art is fun I really like the broad stroke impressions of them in bold simple colors.

The fact that you have embraced a story and setting and world for over ten years speaks to the passion and connection you feel to it. I've been a WoD player for maybe eight years now? I also embrace stories and characters that are no longer in play. Personally I think these forums need more of that "I really play" sharing to inspire others who might otherwise think like you - that others will find their stories dull.

I suppose some people will, other people will...

Players doing the way unexpected is pretty much why the rule of cool exists, I think. It's much better than going "oh well guys, didn't see that coming - totally need to stop and plan now so... we'll meet next week."

I think going along with xiongrey 's comment about running around the house like crazy.. I had a moment in a game where I was a mortal surrounded by vampires chatting and casually posturing to each other (as vampires seem to love to do) and it was very cool and freaky.

I'll throw in another one that was from that same mortal's experience.. That...

Azahul That moment when the players realize their personal relationships will never be quite the same... :P That sounds pretty awkward and poignant. I love the idea of the Mother Role twisted into something monstrous (as you might imagine!)...

xiongrey I have never dived into Demon, but I love that epic feeling of a big reveal - it tips a hat to the ST who had some mad planning skills to get to that reveal.

nofather That's hilarious, I love big monsters

Vent0 Yes, he had some harmony drop - but t's a roll each time and we didn't roll on a per-person basis but more on a per-situation basis. As an ST it's really fun to watch players just dive into that monster spiral and embrace it. It can be surprisingly impossible to pull them back out of it and why would you??

    Thanks for the comments all,...

    That Moment When...

I love hearing about little parts of people's gaming experiences. Especially the things that are most memorable in a game, that stick with you even years later. Please share a "moment" in your game that tickles you, touches you or horrifies you. (Maybe it reached out in the dark to tickle you in a horrifying way.. )

I'll probably share some more as I think of them, but here goes for a shot out of the barrel:

That moment when your werewolf player decides they absolutely have to hunt down and eat that minor, but critically plot important mortal.. and his...

  • The parks and swamps. https://www.nola.gov/parks-and-parkways/ (Is there a way to make links here? Who knows. Google the new orleans parks and/or swamps)

The lone-man rangers, rapists, druggies, hippies, millenials, fisherman, and voodoo practictioners who love them. The night-patrolling policeman in the park. The crocodiles!! The lonely dark boardwalks through the swamp.. For a group making their last stand, claiming these areas would be a bit like guerilla warfare. Come, try and find us! But it would also have some bold advantages (like the "neutral areas" considered...

  • In my 2e vampire campaign werewolves were fun and/or terrifying depending on whether you'd crossed them or not. Vampires and wolves lived in the same city, their territories overlapped in many ways and there was a diplomatic position under the city's prince that dealt with "negotiating" and "being an ambassador" to the werewolves. The various tensions were constantly messy.

This meant trying to delicately avoid an all out fight when a vampire had pissed off a werewolf. (Usually by messing up their territory, killing their favorite old lady who brings in happy...

  • I see two ways this could be turned into mechanics:

    1) the software/device is an active thing. It is constantly listening to your desires for it, and feeds you back the information you need proactively. Imagine a dog guarding your house, barking when intruders get nearby. In this case it's acting more like a living entity, and would make a suitable retainer with its own skills in computer and investigation.

    2) You check in on the software/device and it goes and gathers info and reports to you as a single kind of action. When you're not actively engaging it, it's...
