One of the main plot points in Dynasty of Dovak is a character who spent months secretly performing a working so it looked like she could perform a Celestial working by simply waving her hand and saying Abracadabra.

Jesus had the showmanship, and he knew the tree would be out of season. Just sayin'....

It's a great resource. Be sad to see it go.

    How big is it?

I'm reasonably sure no DB build can take Ahlat one-on-one.

Fight the Wandering Deathknight (Mounted Version).

    Disagree.

When you cast Death By Obsidian Butterflies, you get Obsidian Butterflies. You don't get your choice of wooden hornets or silver moths or bronze locusts.

The spell does one, fixed, thing.

The fluff around it making the kind of food the sorcerer who created the spell was familiar with is exactly how sorcery is supposed to work.

That said, I agree with Kelly that the spell should be weirder. If we're making this an automatic party which gods show up to (and I don't think it should be able to feed infinite people -- I agree with Jefep...

And you CAN do this in Exalted. Even with sorcery and summoning. *Shrug*...

Pretty much all RPGs are based on the premise that the PCs will win. If you have a TPK the game is over.

Exalted, not having ressurection or time travel is just a bit more up front about it.

Yes, the ST can force players to fail (in Exalted or any game). But generally speaking, you're going to win. Any dramatic tension is caused by the ST creating the illusion of danger.

I have some specific thoughts about demon summoning but I am going to make a new thread for them.

Not a mod, but you know there's an off-topic forum, right?

Exalted specific? Dynasty of Dovak is back down to just the two of us. If we get isolated we might increase play frequency, but we're back to shorter sessions. We're trying to blue-book a session with Melody's player, but their wedding has been called off so they have bigger concerns right now.

I'm a prepper, so I needed to grab some long-life milk and I'm going out shortly to get some fresh fruit but otherwise I'm stocked up. Things aren't that bad where I am -- toilet paper is restocked three times a day (it...

  • In 2E: We killed the Unconquered Sun and Ligier, freed the Ebon Dragon, destroyed the Elemental Pole of Earth and replaced it with a Black Spiral to Malfeas, made Mnemon the new Elemental Dragon of Earth, stole Lytek's cabinet and Lillun, imprisoned the Ebon Dragon in Yu-Shen (alone, the Games of Divinity destroyed, the sky locked in perpetual sunlight, with his only consolation being the nails-on-chalkboard ringing of Sol's deathscream blasting out for all eternity), perverted all the Solar Exaltations to Infernal ones, redeemed (almost) all the Abyssals into new Solars, brought forth my character's...

What makes the idea interesting to me, is that Sol is right.*

The First Age Solars were Anathema. The Shogunate and the Realm are evil. The Exalted have failed to rule wisely and justly. The king of heaven, paragon of virtue, would rule with Compassion, Temperance, Conviction and Valor. Life for the average person in Creation would be immeasurably better under a Dictatorship of the Divine. Turned from the Games and back to his original purpose (Sol literally exists to rule over Creation, not heaven), the restoration of the natural order would undo centuries of corruption. If talking...

You can't use Righteous Devil Charms with Archery, Melee or Thrown.

I suggest something like: "The Exalt makes a withering or decisive attack with (Dexterity + [Archery, Thrown, Melee or an appropriate Martial Art])"...

  • You're missing the Resonant Keyword on the Charms.

Fury Knows No Bounds is a little weird. It's a Reaper Daiklave Flame weapon I can use with Thrown or Archery but not Single Point or Righteous Devil? I'd either pair the ranged attack down to a standard Dex+Melee roll, or open it to all combat abilities.

    Otherwise, it looks great. 3-dots.

I'd strongly consider looking at Asphodel and cribbing out some of the ghostly mentor shtick to make this feel more "Soulsteel-y" (and meet player expectations), but nix the Shadow-World stuff. If front-loaded...

    As a 2-ism...

What if he just doesn't have free will?

Like V.I.K.I. from the "I, Robot" film, governed by "programming", the Sun doesn't have "integrity" (in that he could break his word but doesn't), rather the Sun is physically (and meta-physically) unable to act against his word. Having given Creation to the Exalted, he now can't step in no matter how much it pains him.

    Alternatively/additionally...

What if the Sun can't intervene but there's an escape clause? If the Exalted fail to defend Creation, then he can...

It's the version of Sol who lost the Primordial War from the Gunstar Shard.

Has all the Unconquered Sun Charms and all the Malfeas Charms....

    Agree to disagree.

I don't feel the distinction is relevant: especially if you're not exploring why sleep is requisite in the first place. Then you have the distinction between drugs which induce sleep vs unconsciousness. Then magic.

You're opening a can of worms which is only going to big down play.

If you find the distinction important then I simply wouldn't use that idea....

Well eliminating the WP recovery is one.

I like making it so they can't sleep, even if they want to. They can be paralyzed but not knocked unconcious.

You could make the character prone to losing track of time.

Automatically botch a single action taken between midnight and 8AM....
