A marriage is annulled after fifty years without a child (25 years if you don't have any children). So... not necessarily.

But marriage is more of a political alliance than a religious union. The Dynast who wants to do a Prince Charles faces significant obstacles in the way of betraying their family obligations, which probably trumps the disapproval of the local monks....

  • Eh... you have a LOT of Charms two years into a game.

Like, Cynis Ganan has Earth Dragon Form, Become the Hammer and Force of the Mountain. I literally couldn't tell you what other Charms he has.

Actually... that's not quite true. A Deathknight knocked him Prone, nearly killing him, because I forgot he has that Earth Dragon Charm that stops you being knocked Prone. I forget what it's called....

    Deliberately left ambiguous.

    It's a matter of faith.

It is a fact that the religion exists to serve the nefarious social aims of the Bronze Faction. The religion also contains falsehoods (such as attributing deeds carried out by the Celestial Exalted to Terrestrials) and allegorical tales that might not be literally true.

But whether the religion is based on truth (but biased and twisted to suit these social aims) or completely fabriacted (or even perhaps accidently true either by coincidence or Prachet-esque causality) is something for the ST to decide....

  • Savant meant you understood First Age tech, but didn't really have any real memories or emotional context that went with this knowledge.

Past Lives meant you remembered your last incarnations life.

So it went something like this:

"You don't know me but we used to be friends."
    "Okay. I don't care."
"Wanna help me steal a Directional Titan? I'll let you take it apart." *glows golden*
"You son of a bitch, I'm in."

  • The Prince of Iron and Fire had Savant 5. So when the Past Lives 5 Zenith came to put the old Circle back together it was pretty much "you son of a bitch, I'm in".

Cynis Ganan has yet to meet a Solar Anathema. That said, as a scholar of some renown it is his professional opinion that the Deathknights and the Solar Anathema are in fact one-and-the-same. He reacted with single-minded brutish violence on meeting his first Deathknight.

    On that note:

How would people feel about an Exalted book club? We all read a chapter of The Realm every week then come to discuss it?...

Gotta hit that sweet WP recovery.

    2E MoEP: The Dragon-Blooded page 24:

Among the Realm’s Dragon-Blooded, knowledge of one or two spells does not make one a sorcerer. Any Dragon-Blood might learn a single spell, and many make the effort to learn Emerald Countermagic, which most Dynastic schools teach to students who show the aptitude.

    Page 25

Under the tutelage of House instructors (or much older students) small units drill together practicing armed and unarmed combat, maneuvers, battlefield sorcery and endurance training.

  • I know I'm too late... but here's my best offering for challenging an invested Essence 3 Solar, with Artifact, and their Circle (NB: a Tyrant Lizard or a Warstrider is about 15 yards long, a blue whale is about 32, a trieme is about 40. These things are YUGE. Even by Exalted standards. We're talking Godzilla sizes here.):

    Mystic Kraken

Creation's seas are home to many strange animals. One such beast is the dreaded armored kraken. Yet the kraken is not the deadliest beast in the ocean: sometimes through dread sorcery, the warping powers of the wild, or the untapped mystic

The rules are great. The fluff is pretty good (I really don't like that they completely changed Lilith, but I do like the new Lilith -- IMO would have been better as a new character, but I get it). The rules, are great.

Shapeshifting is sensible (bit of book keeping). Excellencies are fantastic. Charm power level is very comparable to Solars without being "Solar but Silver" (it's all pretty well balanced, almost no trap options or must-haves, some interesting synergies).

I don't know what the timeline looks like, but Vance laid out the steps here:...

  • That was an emotional scene, one of my favourites too.

Reya and I are pretty easy going. Very "yes, and", but we knew that Your Grace had high lethality potential so laid out some ground rules before playing: first, it wouldn't end in a TPK; second, Ganan would lose and Tinkara would be injured; and third, that Reya would give Ganan a dressing down for not being a team player. And the threat of that dressing down is the only reason I agreed to the Kinship in the first place -- Ganan's big vice is his unwillingness to cooperate with others (no idea where that comes from *cough,...

  • Animals might not, but Lunars are not animals.

A monkey has a good Athletics score. But it doesn't become a master mariner if you use magic to transform the monkey into a Kraken.

A Lunar might have a good Athletics score, but they still use Sail for Sail rolls. (IMHO YMMV)...

The leading schools are the Heptagram, Spiral Academy, the Cloister of Wisdom, and the House of Bells. Pasiap's Stair exists to give remedial education to Lost Eggs who choose to take the Coin. These are your Ivy League colleges.

But other, less prestigious schools exist. They are principally attended by mortal Dynasts and wealthy Patricians, but Dragon-Blooded do, occasionally, attend. This is basically community college....

  • Correct. Agree. Apologies for being unclear.

Incorrect. Superior and Legendary projects have no set Interval. Page 241/242:

"The roll [for Superior projects] has no set interval; each time the character pays 10 gold points to attempt to complete the project, she can roll once, and may attempt her next roll once she can pay another 10 gold points to try again.

    [...]

"Attempting to finish a legendary project works like attempting to finish a superior project, with the following exceptions: The character must labor for at least...

  • Here's the thing Sandact6, the game works when you play it how DrLoveMonkey is suggesting.

It does not work when you play otherwise.

You are admitting that it doesn't work when you play it your way, when you come into my thread and complain about how the game doesn't work.

Now I'm not going to sit here and say "the game is perfect and nothing is wrong". That'd be patently absurd. I literally made this thread to whinge about the game not working.

But likewise, if you're going to play in a way that's totally unsupported by the game then...

Sure but a bipedal giant creature can turn faster than a quadrupeds. A giant squid-like monstrosity probably doesn't need to turn. Nor does a mile high volcano monster.

    Case by case.

On turning speeds, how much damage can your mansized combatant do to a Juggernaut in six seconds? I'd wager it's a negligible amount. So why not extend combat rounds to represent something like a hour long hacking session? During your combat roll, Juggernaut sloughs you off and ponderously turns round to fight you?

How you handle the supermassive is going to depend on the roll...

I'd say that getting the drop on a large creature sounds like an Ambush.

After that... they just turn around dude.

Pretty much everything else needs to be taken on a case by case basis.

  • First, Craft is a dumpster fire.
Second, Craft is a dumpster fire. For real.

A starting Twilight can reliably crap out N/A artifacts. May as well buy up God-Forge Within -- by Essence 5, you can have 10 free, permanent Legendary slots and enough Power charms to finish each one in a single roll. It only takes 204 successes, you can throw a thousand successes on a well heeled Solar Craft roll.
