There was a discussion about this back when KotEK came out, as the Bastet book mentioned a war between the Simba and the Kindred. Mostly, Kindred are going to get out of the way. They have the potential to live a very long time, and the idea of getting in the way of powerful werecreatures (some of whom can harness sunlight and fire) tends to lessen that potential. The result being that that 'war' wound up thinning the lesser vampires of the region.

So in an odd way, the Kindred best able to protect themselves the least likely to need to.

  • I'm thinking there's a bit of a sliding scale here. Not every kid is going to be angling for the same material at the same time. There's no magic number on age where things suddenly start making sense.

Also, there is a remarkable difference between the big 3 corebooks, and say, the Guide to the Sabbat or the Book of the Wyrm....

  • If you aren't afraid of learning the commands and using 20 year old tech, you might want to check the various mu*s on mudconnect.

Most support player run plots (prp for short), and are starved for STs. Being willing and able to juggle multiple systems will make you popular quick.

Except that they also require time to learn disciplines and a source of food....

That particular example was meant to be highly situational and off the beaten track, primarily meant to point out that no matter how much the 'standard' is hate, it doesn't mean that there aren't events that can (at least temporarily) cause goals to align....

Thought that was 'Old Clan' and was one of the reasons the ones that formed the Sabbat killed their Anti?...

  • I think maybe there's a little too much effort in aligning The game world politics to real world politics.

Of course, there's always a huge danger of painting the situation with too wide a brush.

There are vast differences between clans, sects, local politics, and even individuals. There's going to be a huge difference in the way a Silent Strider reacts to a Follower of Set that sold Blood Magic'd drugs to his Kinfolk kid than a Glass Walker running into a Ventrue covering up a Masquarade violation.

Heck, even the Sabbat knows the danger of infernalism and ancient horrors waking up to eat the world, and if a Baali and a BSD start to cooperate in waking up an Earthbound,...

In the 18th century, those rules maintained the status quo of 'women are less than men'. Now, women are running countries, marital rape has been outlawed on most of two continents, and gender has become less binary in many eyes.

Other than a few pockets of folklore, there has never really been as radical a shift, or as measurable, as what has occured since WWII.

Case in point for potential 'Male Black Fury', Elliot Stabler from Law & Order: SVU. Overreactivelly protective of his own family, voilently reactive to percieved injustices, constantly challenging his own...

I'm not displeased so much with the action, but the (in game) reasoning behind it. The totem has changed to reflected a changed world. This should be explored.

'Because more males are being born.' is just sloppy.

Also, death threats anymore are just way too easy.......

Remember when Dementation was Dark Ages only? Obtenebration I think also got a level changed.

‚ÄčI've never really had an issue with people that want to use a variation on a discipline from an alternate setting if it fits the character better.
