  • I think you missed the point of Revnants, in that they are the 'low cost' ghouls. They don't need to do those things because they are born and indoctrinated cult style and produce their own. Unless they are important enough, and are noticed as such, they're mostly left to their own devices....

  • Keep in mind, I'm not saying there would be any fewer Garou. More like the same split we already see with the Beast Courts (Haken) and the Ahadi (Red Talons)

Rather than, as BNS uses, a tribal basis for the split, it instead becomes a geographic one, where the Garou of North Armerica, North Asia, Europe, and the Middle East no longer understand each other....

    Destroying the Garou Nation

In the thread for the 5th Edition, one of the controversial items is the split in the Garou Nation down the lines of 'Traditional' vs 'Modern', and the way the divide fell between the Tribes.

However, it occurred to me that some divisions already exist. Obviously, the Uktena and Wendigo haven't been happy with the way things have gone since Columbus arrived. The Shadow Lords are split into a seperate sub-tribe divided by their home range (East of the Carpathians to the Pacific Ocean are Haken). Baba Yaga's curtain causing yet another split, as the Tribes in Russia found them selves...

  • I never could get into the new World of Darkness. Thought it was on a good track with Precinct 13, but just couldn't get into the setting with Vampire or Werewolf and so stopped there. Might be that some of the ideas from Sorcerer's Crusade were related to the others. Or I might just be seeing things that aren't there, as I never really managed to get a Mage historical game off the ground....

Unfortunately, the definition of 'Nazi' in some minds has decayed to 'person that doesn't agree with me on something' with little regard to what they actually were and what they represented, and all too often is being used to justify the person's own Nazi-like behavior of using violence to shut down opposing views....

  • I think either would leave a vampire pretty defenseless come morning. Big windows are kind of a thing. The few hotels I've stayed at with an 'indoor' side had a big skylight in the interior area, which meant every room in the place got a strong dose of sunlight....

  • For Vampire:
    Guide to the Sabbat
Really needs an overhaul. Near Dark was scary for it's time, but redneck vampire rampage could use some rethinking today.
    Blood Magic 2
Instead of details on the magic itself, instead make this an 'adventure' book. The main clans that use various forms of Blood Magic competing for a prize that promises to increase their powers. (or at least the powers of their elders.) Basically, Giovanni, vs Tremere, vs Old Clan Tsimisce, with a scattering of Settites and Assamites.

    For Werewolf:
Rage Across... focusing on the Ahadi....

Yeah, I'm thinking you might want to let an appropriate law enforcement agency know about that one....

  • Well, as I said, if a Kinfolk isn't careful, use of heavily destructive Paths (especially spiritually destructive) could lead to Wyrm taint, and that won't go over well at family gatherings....

  • They did bring that merit back for Bastet and Kitsune in CB20 (after a fashion).

Now, I still don't see a huge point in it, as it's rarely got anything a Vampire with Thaumurtagy can't already do better and with less XP.

Now Tremere acolytes and ghouls on the other hand...

What I've gone with in the past is that for a Garou (or other Shapeshifter) to detect which aspect of the Wyrm they are dealing with, they need:

    1) The mindset to care. (Stargazers come to mind.)
    2) Wyrm (or appropriate) Lore. (IE, Wraith Lore of a Strider would allow them to detect the difference between Corruption and Oblivion.)
    3) Multiple Success on Sense Wyrm or Triat. Each success on the roll would add more detail, up to their level of lore. (IE, if they have Wyrm Lore 3, they can count 3 successes toward those details.) Rather than bogging things down with...

  • Humanity is definitely a 'Vampire' thing. It's about staving off the Beast just a little longer. It's also a good hunter thing, as they fight off the urge to become worse than what they hunt.

For Werewolf (or Mage), it's a bit of a useless point sink, if there isn't an actual story to tell around it.

Not exactly sure why you brought that up?

As for what magical Paths they can learn, it's as open as anyone else. Possibly more so, as in effect, the Skin Dancers (which I probably should have mentioned in my last post) were formed by a rogue Kinfolk that...

It's a shame that things have progressed the way they did, but please keep in mind:

    1) that this is an industry founded by, aimed at, and still run by intelligent, opinionated people.
    2) Sometimes those opinions clash and tempers flare. As with any other business, the employee yelling 'screw you, I'm out' is much more free to make a scene than the employer.
    3) Twitter and other social media make it far too easy to go on one sided rants, and people sometimes forget that 'burning bridges' isn't usually the best way to go out....

  • I'd think it'd be fairly easy. Edition refers to the core rules of the system and setting, and is applied across the board to all lines weather they received their own book that edition or not....

  • I think I will go into Kinfolk next. Here we see one major issue in that a lot of cross potential gets wasted on 'where do we put it?' as magic and psychic abilities are redundant with many other facets, and including them would require multiple sourcebooks or a much higher page count.

One one hand, the various Breeds have a distinct distrust of 'others' that comes along with fighting a loosing war. On the other hand, they ARE loosing and it makes available tools all the more tempting. In the case of Sorcerers and Psychics, the line between a gifted Kin and a Gifted Kin can be blurry,...

  • I think, in the case of a Ghoul that has learned Sorcery, it would be an appropriate flaw. Even without Vitae, they'll still be 'casting from Health' while not Ghouled.

In the case of a Sorcerer that had been Ghouled, that would be a learned process. (Hence the need for Mana Manipulation or appropriate Blood Magic ritual to 'learn' how to switch.)

On the other hand, Kinfolk with Gnosis are presumably born with it, and would likely need a ritual to 'share', unless sharing with someone already familiar with the spirit world.

  • Still got whole bunches to reread, Project Twilight & Inquisition for some old style hunting, I don't really know enough about Fae to work with Kinian. Also, Mediums and Quick and the Dead are staring at me.

But first, I want to hit on two others

Ghouls: Fatal Addiction (or Liege Lord & Lackey)

Not quite in the big leagues, but definitely part of the whole.

For Ghouls, I think a major 'miss' for both Sorcerer and Vampire would be the guys still in 'pledge week' for the various Blood Magic groups. The Tremere, Giovani, and Settites,...
