Still, it only goes against the part of the theory dealing with the misfiring imprint mechanism, not against the connection between Omphalos and human Souls, so the rest of the theory is somewhat safe....

Well, I haven't seen the idea outright repudiated anywhere, so I presume that, like other things from 1E not outright contradicted by new lore, the idea is still valid. And of course it's not a heaven for anything not Supernal, as everything not Supernal gets burned to dust if it tries to enter. It's more about the ideas the realm represents in the Phenomenal World. Regardless, Obrimos are still mentioned in 2E as holding culture heroes bringing enlightenment and civilization to Sleepers in reverence, so not much appears to have changed. And Dave also described Obrimos as the least changed Path...

Look in detail at the "Mood: Hope" part and "Character Concepts" part of the chapter, they speak for themselves. Sure, Obrimos are about power, but they are also about the light of hope. One doesn't exclude the other.

Also, to correct my previous statement, their Theme is actually Strength, it's their Mood that is hope, but that's just a technicality....

Tome of the Watchtowers specifically mentions the theme of Obrimos to be "hope", so Aether is at least in part a "heaven" as people commonly understand it. It's a judgmental place and you need to learn how to wield the Power properly, but it still is a heaven....

This is actually an interesting idea. It goes well with my theory that Death is to the Gross Arcana what Prime is to the Arcana as a whole. Prime is a language that describes all of the Arcana, including itself. On the other hand, what is the primary difference between a given Gross and Subtle Arcanum? The Gross arcanum is more percise, more easily measurable, more definite. For example, the Fate Arcanum contains all of the possible timelines and possibilities, while Time deals with a specific timeline, defined by its "borders" (endings) from the rest of potential time. In a sense, Death...

As far as I know, yeah, it's common knowledge. It won't always and necessarily happen, it depends on how seriously you take the Shadow persona (mechanically represented mostly by how many dots you invested in the Name), but it's a definitive risk....

I think taking Shadow Name Odin and subsequently more or less inevitably losing an eye was mentioned as an example of the power of Shadow Name symbolism, so......

  • Technically, you could also make a distinction between Attainments, that are based on spells with +2 Reach option and spells without it. Going purely by the numbers, the second kind would make it more difficult, as you would have to account for the dice bonuses necessary for Indefinite Duration (with Arcanum at four or five dots, you would still need to rise up one degree (two dice necessary for that)). You could accomodate the Fate 2 Attainment to impose a Condition under which the effect ceases to exist, but otherwise is Indefinite, and you could even cheat a little: "I create a sword that...

  • By default, you would need 2 Reach, so you can only make Lasting effects of Adept level and below....

  • Yeah, if you go back in time and prevent the death, the person never died in the first place. This goes for preventing death that happened five years ago or one turn ago (saving a cabalmate by turning back time by a few seconds should be quite a common occurence for time mages)....
