  • Not going to lie, I want to see Arrows and Guardians as U.S. Marshals and Texas Rangers now.

The "cowboys and Indians" angle could be potentially awkward, but it's hardly the sole dimension of Wild West stories. A major one, to be sure, and the writers could (and probably should) devote some page space to discussing that and giving advice on how to handle settler-native interactions. But there's enough stuff besides that to include: train robberies, bank heists, months-long horse chases....

  • Changeling is all about creating new identities. And how many Westerns are about people seeking revenge for a great slight, or running from the mistakes and tragedies of their past? Plus, literature portrays the Wild West as the romantic Age of the Gunslinger, much like the French Ancien Régime is portrayed as the romantic Age of the Swashbuckler: both periods of gallant heroes and beautiful women pursuing their own agendas, both swept aside and replaced by a more mundane era (the decreased lawlessness of the Wild West killed the Gunslinger, the French Revolution killed the Swashbuckler)....

    Thoughts on the selected lines:

Changeling is a no-brainer to me. Lady of the Lake as a True Fae, Avalon as a realm in Arcadia, etc. Possibly some foreshadowing of that plot hook in Requiem for Regina about the deal the London Kindred made with the True Fae. Plus, being set in the British Isles gives an opportunity to explore the fact that a lot of Anglo-Celtic folklore pertains to fairies.

Hunter surprised me at first, but the interpretation that the KotRT were a Hunter compact fighting monsters is too good to pass up.

Vampire has me wondering if we will...

  • Having recently played Hellblade, I have a new appreciation for how awful Horrid Whispers would be. Because not only do you have to deal with people whispering in your ear, you know the voices are actually real!

Ok, this is whole new levels of "unpleasant," Ragnar thinks to himself. It's like the old recurring nightmare he used to have as a child, trying to run away from some monster, but his body- he had been quite plump when he was young- betraying...

  • At this point, I think we could really benefit from a Dual Hungers Merit. I think it could give a lot of wiggle room for character concepts: a Beast like the one you described above could be an Enabler/Nemesis, tempting people to break their taboos and then humiliating them as punishment, or a Beast with the Hungers of Transgressions/Ruin, who loves watching people ruin their reputations by giving in to their darkest, most shameful desires....

  • Penny is literally a Mastigos: his discipline is telepathy with a specialty in teleportation.

Quentin, Alice, Margot, Cady, and Elliot are in Physical House, which seems to govern all areas of matter manipulation and energy, so probably Moros and Obrimos; Alice's specialty is phospheromancy (light manipulation), so Obrimos. Don't know about the others.

Julia is a little peculiar, since we never really see her at Brakebills. But I reckon she's an Obrimos, since her "signature" spell is creating a shower of sparks that can amp up to the power of a welding torch...

  • I know a lot of people have been using Makara to represent dangerous, inescapable places... looks like the Talassii could be butting in on that.

Inguma whose Horror takes the form of a Xenomorph, anyone?

  • This little meme wormed its way into my mind a while back. It's not a perfect one-for-one, but yeah, the Phantom Thieves are a group of Nemeses who prefer going after other Beasts (that's how I interpret the Targets' Personas).

Kamoshida is such a dark starter villain, the game does feel like a CoD Chronicle at times. Namtaru (seriously, look at this thing- possible NSFW with the female forms in the trophy- and tell me it's not a Namtaru) Tyrant (imagines himself as the "king" of the school, and the students are his to use and abuse in any way he sees fit)....

  • Well. This is unfortunate. Halfway to empty on the Pyros, no combat Alembics, only to health boxes not filled with Lethal. Just to check, is Adonis still under the effects of Drugged?...

  • I kind of want to take a crack at a Dynasty elder game one of these days: the players are members of a cyclic dynasty. All very good questions here....

  • Another idea that I think could be interesting is, after a couple in-game centuries, roll up new characters, so that you can show several generations of the same dynasty interacting with the world. The previous PCs wouldn't have to die, they could simply go into torpor, or leave for new hunting grounds, or send their childer off to new domains, up to their own plans and struggles but capable of dropping in when their childer need a hand. Or leave it as an optional thing, so that players who want to role-play a neonate growing up to be a millennium-old Methuselah can do that, and those who get...

Adonis takes the bag and quickly dresses again. He peeks out the door, and then pulls his head back when he sees the Unborn. "Okay, those things following the humans. Those are Pandorans. Stay far, far away from them." But then he furrows his brow. "Wait, they aren't...
