    Seekings can be either a great story element or an absolutely terrible one. They are not an element that fits into a gaming mindset, so it's natural that some people who really want to unite narrative and story in their games find them lacking.

    I've also found that Seekings are an easy way for a bad / naive ST to bully players about their characters. It's not necessarily deliberate, but it's a natural trap. Part of a Seeking involves the ST having insight into the PC, so it can devolve into the player wrestling with a incorrect perception of their character.

    I'd say the post game-start Realm Senate is in many ways like the early Senate in the US.
    • No track record. The US Senate didn't exist, and the Realm Senate was a glorified policy secretary for the Empress.
    • Thrust into difficult times. The young USA was beset by problems and torn by political division between states and the feds. The Realm Senate is torn between loyalty to the Realm and loyalty to their respective Houses.
    I'd spend some time reading early US legislative history. It's fascinating how many novel problems they confronted, and how much statesmanship emanated from that body....

    I'm gonna go with the humble Excellency. It alone separates Exalts from mortals. Fire and spectacle is great, but characters accomplish goals by racking up successes, period.
