Pretty sure they metaphysically can't. I don't remember if it is outright listed, but I think once you sign in blood for one Pact, other Demon's can tell it isn't up for sale.

Granted, you can sell off other portions of your life still (I think) and leave your life in a sorry, dangerous state for whatever Demon comes to collect.

  • What about "Intensity"? It covers both the concept of power, and the degree of depth for emotions/feelings.

  • Inclined to go Wolf, but if you think it leverages Pack bonds and doesn't need an Essence cost, go Pack.

  • Agreed.

Hmm. Is there conceptual "room" for a quasi-teleport-like effect that lets a hunting Pack travel along a targets name, like it was some kind of path? I think traditional tracking based on Sympathetic Connections is more in theme, but I just thought I'd throw that out there.

    Other Name-based Rite ideas:
    * Empower attacks or other Rite usage against a Named target.
    * Defensive version of the above.
    * "Borrowing" a Target's identity, like a Demon's Identity Theft Embed....

Indeed, it adds to the Drama/Fun! If it were easy, Mages wouldn't need to work at it....

  • Not so much Mythology as Mechanics (at least, as of 2E). Mages are Addicted to the Mysteries - they need to investigate something. The Myrddin/Merlin Ascension isn't oWoD Metaplot (at least, as far as I know, since I don't follow Mage: the Ascension). I was referencing a Developer's commentary that Myrddin was a cunning Acanthus that exalted the symbols of Camelot, Ascended, and the pissed off Exarch did what they could to (unsuccessfully) scrub it from history/Time. It's semi-un-official, so it isn't required anyways. I just thought it was relevant and a nice nod to history and the setting....

replied to Angels and the Combat Issue
If Demons want to enter Twilight, generally speaking they rip the face off a Ghost or Spirit (or Goetia?) and wear it via Ephemeral Cover (I'm pretty sure that works). Note that this exclude Angels. Angels being able to hang out in Twilight is a consistent advantage they have. Sense the Angelic (Form Modification) only tells you if they are in the area on Influence/Numina use....

  • Also, as this is Mage-centric (I'm guessing based on which sub-forum it is in), what Mysteries are available and London specific? How is the Supernal reflected in London? What age-old Mysteries remain to be plumbed? Are you going to do anything with Myrddin/Merlin's Ascension?

I'm guessing Werewolves and Fae have a bit more interaction with the Circle, (and more modern Werewolves with the Sons). Are you using Prometheans, Beasts, Mummies, or Demons?

  • My comment was more directed at Michael, since they said "There are a lot of opportunities for specific detail that aren't used.", I was wondering what details they had in mind that were not being used. I haven't been to London, so I have no idea....

  • Cahalith with the Gifts of:
    • Dominance (for almost mind-control)
    • Elements (Influences in the 4 Classical Elements)
    • Insight (seer-like effects)
    • Knowledge (same)
    • Nature (for a more druidly take)
    • Shaping (transformations and object destruction)
    • Stealth (for... stealth)
    • Technology (for a more Technomancer take)
    • Warding (magical area control)
    • Weather (environmental effects)
Cahaliths get prophetic dreams. You might also want to invest in various Rites, but especially the Fetish Rite. With that, you can bind Spirits into all sorts of Fetishes, for "magic items", and especially...

replied to [2E] Dead Dominions and folklore
So, if a traveller happened upon a realm of the dead, where a patriarchal Ghost warlord had Ghost warriors fight endlessly (for their amusement?), what stories and conclusions would that traveller draw?

Note: noting is said about who the warlord is, or that the warriors are honorable Norse dead. Those could be "inferences" added by the retelling....

  • Nice. A few minor points on the Mages factions - the Orders aren't decendend from Atlantis (which, of course, never existed), but are creations of Mage society dating from after the time of Alexander. The Mysterium has extensive overlap with your Collegium, for example.

For the mundane factions, have you read Hunter: the Vigil?

Are the Grey Men God-Machine Angels, or something else?

So, wreck their ability to Time Travel.

...Which you are trying to do by changing history? Do the players at least appreciate the hypocrisy of this position?...

I get the feeling, based on the comments, that a Dead Dominion might fun-house-mirror resemble an afterlife, either by the dead holders of that belief lasting long enough to shape it, or lore of the Dominion inspiring the stories of an afterlife. Either way, the Dominion is likely to only vaguely resemble the myths. You can see the links, but should never take the stories as a documentary.

replied to Rewriting the rules for Angels
I think the point is, is that Demons want an Angel Materialized, so they can actually hit it. They can't affect it in Twilight without its Bane, and even with its Bane, they can't see it....

Yeah. It works better with the comparison to Werewolves, since both leverage the Spirit world/Shadow. It would make sense, that for "animal magic", leveraging the powers of animal Spirits would make the most sense. Special Rites also allow for both greater variety of powers, as well as restricting them to thematic things....

Not seeing why [Redacted from memory] should get Mage magic when they should be more similar to Werewolves. Any reason Wolf/Pack Rite access or Influences (as per Spirits or Horrors, depending on if Essence or Willpower is the fuel stat) wouldn't work? Influences are kinda like Arcana, but both more common/Blue Book/accessible and more category-limited....
