  • Thanks. Yeah it definitely serves to illustrate vampire-as-contagion. The actual degree of acceleration would probably be slowed due to the Humanity costs and "feeding capacity". Bringing more mouths to feed into the Domain might increase your power, but it also increases your chance of seeing the sun....

  • Yeah, that was an implication of the direct scaling model. Maybe a point-value would work better? The idea was to be like a pyramid scheme, which requires a certain amount of layers....

  • Alternate Blood Potency Increase Hack - "Family" Tree

So, I was playing around with ideas and thought up this variant system for Blood Potency increases (its actual effects stay the same) - instead of increasing +1 every 50 years, it increases proportional to the character's bloodline/brood. Like a pyramid schema.

An extremely rough example structure is
    Blood Potency Childer Grand-Childer* Great-Grand-Childer*
    1 None None None
    ...

  • Aren't Reapers something specific now, and already listed as antagonists who don't like the Bound (thinking that they cheat death)?

    The Reaper Chronicle?

    pbtA?
Other related hacks for scaling the power of this:
    • +1 Reach per dot: Small spells are easy, but throwing the Reflexive Unmaking spell is going to cost.
      • +1 Mana per dot: Like the Reach option above, but less prone to Paradox "fun" and more like throwing money at your problems.
    • Can't over-Reach: You need to spin that Imago fast and can't cram all the extra power you might like into it. Keeps the Reflexive spells small.
Since you can use 1 Yantra reflexively, you might simply provide some restrictions on what they can be. Tools and Muldras? Nope. Environment? Sure. Might encourage...

  • So, an AoE can remain fixed relative to a space/object, if the AoE can be contained in said space. One could affect a portion or even the entire interior of a car or train, but cannot create an AoE bigger than or extending outside the car/train that travels with it....

  • That doesn't track with it working as both Integrity and a Power Stat, though. I meant the "Break Upward and Downward" aspect alone, without assigning special meaning to the top and bottom of the scale....

    Other ideas:

Would a "line" of Merits based on the Arcana (kind of like Attainments, but not tied to any particular dot rating, nor necessarily requiring that Arcana for its affects)? Scaled for Proximi (who can only pick up their Dynastic Arcana ones), or even Sleepwalkers (giving them vague Arcana leanings)? Something with the same "weight" and "pluggability" as Wolf-Blooded Tells, but for Mage.

EDIT: Ooo. An additional idea, but in the same vein, would be Arcana based Style merits for Sleepwalkers to create Diet-Mages.

  • Break upwards and downwards, like Harmony?

Since Geists are more active characters now, maybe completing their Aspirations or those of Ghosts grant Synergy-XP? Synergy Breaking Points might then be handled like Clarity Damage in Changeling 2E - varying-levels-of-temporary reduction that "heals" up to it's max value eventually....

Equinox Road is the book for "high level" Changeling play.

There are already "tracking" Tells so you'd either have to get creative or find another effect for the Boon. Maybe model it like Bone Gnaw - you get information from what you eat?

For the Drawback, how about using Addicted+Deprived as a model, instead of a hard cap? Or the Sick Condition for non-primarily-meat food?

  • Didn't exist when I first pressed "Quote".

Regardless, how about "the point in space 1 Inch above my head", treating one's head as a vehicle. Do AoEs rush past on planes or speeding trains?...

  • No I meant the center of the AoE being being "me". If it is 10 feet, it affects everything within 10 feet of me. If I move, it continues to affect everything within 10 feet of me.

The Earth is moving too, after all....

[Thread stumbles out of a Time Iris]

So, I had the idea for a Merit (or possibly even micro-template) based upon a Sleeper that switches to Sleepwalker (or even Sleepwalker+, with some Spells) when exposed to Magic. But that wears off and they go back to Sleep (only for the cycle to continue the next time conditions are met).

This is basically me just spit-balling ideas for now - no expectation of it being done or serious is implied.

    Insomagus (Supernatural, • to •••••)
    Prerequisites: Sleeper
Effect: Your grasp of the Supernal ebbs and flows, leaving...

  • The space is the emanation point for subjects to be affected. Think of it more as creating a field that only certain things can benefit from.

A related question: Can the point of emanation for the AoE, be a subject? In that case, maybe to expand the area to a few feet/yards from the Mage, and their allies just make sure to stay close....

They threw magic around - remember that that can leave traces, both to conventional scrying (I didn't see any Time Shielding spell used) and by imposing their Nimbus on things. The book might have a tracking spell on it. Did they check for Ephemerals watching from Twilight? They grabbed the bullet casings, but did they bump into anything and leave clothing fibers or skin cells?

If they can identify who did it, they might seek their own leverage before the 8 pm deadline....
