replied to Settlement Building? How would you do it...?
Not Exalted, but if you're interested in bases of power, check out the (now finished) Kickstarter for the 5e supplement Strongholds and Followers by Matt Colville. It might inform some ideas about how to do it in Exalted.

Oh, right, I should finish this one off. Literally forgot I was watching it at one point.

  • I really liked the paybump stretch goals from the Corebook KS. It seems like a nice sentiment, as I don’t think RPG development pays very well in general.

  • True. It's just that the House articles had been pretty good at pointing out and making a very practical reference sheet over both old and new pretenders to the throne, and I was really expecting, y'know, the second most likely candidate in 2e to have it at least mentioned. I'm fine with her character changing between editions, as I agree with The Wizard of Oz that she's sort of filling a PC role, but it just sort of confused me. Like, was I missing something?...

  • I, too, have enjoyed the first preview. I really got a much better sense of the Great Houses and how to utilise them in the 2e book.

However, one thing that struck me is, what about the Roseblack? She was mentioned in the Tepet section (though not as a Scion of Note?), and while the bit about her made her out as a competent general, it didn’t mention her shot at the Scarlet Throne. In 2e, it was essentially her or Mnemon that the race came down to. Is she no longer a serious competitor?

  • The Forest Witches are really interesting to me, and I'm happy they'll receive some more treatment. Not only is the Sea of Mind a pretty out-there idea that need some development, I also like that we see a group of Terrestrials that's properly nature-oriented. Despite being elemental Exalts of primal natural forces, the Dragon-Blooded tend towards civilization. It's cool to see a culture that forgoes the "standard" empire and city setting. I also think a more prevalent place for Forest Witches in the setting justifies some Charm effects that might not otherwise be seen, particularly...

  • I'm going to start reading the manuscript preview now, but I wanted to give props for the design of the KS itself first. The project page really readable and comprehensive, and as has been said, the backer reward tier spread sheet is super helpful.

In particular, I'd like to compliment the special backer reward tier General of the Vermillion Legion, for this phrasing.

That's much better than the "add your character's name" reward from the 3e core KS. It's great to see that Onyx Path takes this kind of critique to heart.

This time I got on the Sorcerer

  • You can always pledge $5, get the manuscripts and see if your situation improves enough to up the pledge. It won’t even take your $5 until the KS concludes in a month....

  • Congrats! I was gunning too, but I blame the fact that my train was going through a tunnel. Where can you see your backer number?...

  • The core book was funded in, what, six minutes? That said, the hype was unreal at that point, and I feel we can’t expect that now. On the other hand, the funding goal is bound to be lower as well. I think funding within 6 hours is entirely plausible.
