Thought just struck me: do we know what happened to Goodwitch? We've not seen her since Beacon, and I don't know that we heard what she's doing now?

True enough. I've tried to separate what I mean by tempo with the idea of pacing. I actually think there's some decent pacing work in RWBY, particular taken over several sessions; when Pyrrha died, it was impactuful because they managed to build up her relationship with Jaune and the others, and it was a properly targic moment to see her sacrifice that. That's a properly done slow pacing,

What I mean by tempo is how much I feel is happening from episode to episode and how much it excites me. At the start of volume 5, there were a few chapters that really felt packed with significant...

Thoughts on chapters 6, 7 and 8 of volume 5.

Yeah, we sure lost a good bit of tempo here, didn't we? I'll agree with much of the criticism levied previously in the thread: there's a lot of wasted time. The thing I said about Blake being the low-energy front has gotten turned around, but not due to an increase in the pacing of Blake's story. This whole Ozpin training camp had some great potential, but it's essentially amounted to Ruby half-heartedly beating up a farmer boy. I'm not even sure Jaune, who was specifically called out by Ozpin, has done any onscreen training.

  • For the Storyteller's Guide, I'd want some god damn storytelling guidelines.

Exalted has a lot of player-facing rules, but very little that directs how the ST is supposed to act. In 2e core, for example, the ST section mostly talked about minutia, like travel speed and army logistics (for 6 out of 16 pages, in fact). In the Storyteller's Guide, it's the same thing; there's a summary of the place the different Hosts have in the setting, and then some sample characters and, since none of the books were released yet, some Charms to tide you over. That's relevant for an ST if they need...

Like, I just bought Oathbringer on my lunch break. Now I have to choose which book to read tonight? That's not fair. :/

Hang on one Wyldforsaken minute. I can't find the product on DriveThruRPG when I search for it?

    Does anyone have a link?

Edit: The Sidereals are quick today.

The Shogunate is absolutely the most fertile grounds for growth in 3e as I see it. I do hope they devote time and word count to fleshing it out, preferably with one or several devoted setting books like what was intended with Dreams of the First Age.

Then again, they did say that they didn't want to canonize too much of the past this time around, since pinning down what the First Age was made it less... mythical. I suppose the Shogunate could be considered the same way.

On the third hand, we don't have the same developers anymore.

    In fact, I should probably...

Thoughts on chapters 3, 4 and 5 of volume 5.

We keep up the brisk pace here, despite the episodes growing shorter, which was expected if not approved of. It's fair to say that Yang and Weiss is in the most fertile ground like now, while it feels like Ruby and Blake are somewhat on the back burner; not that they aren't doing important stuff, but the cutting edge action is definitely on one side. The two of them are already reunited, and have confronted Raven, one of the ongoing Big Deals of the show.

Also, that's not Freezer Burn, god damn it. It's just Weiss being happy...
