  • Anyone wanting to use the following homerule?
Loci produce 3x their dot rating in essence. Simply homerule that essence to mana conversions aren't 1 to 1 but 1 to 3. Also OR alternatively, use a once a day dictate on resonance locations as we already do for loci and hallows.

Even then, a Spirit-mage is a occult energy mogul. That's their thing, like, their specialty is breaking into the spirit ecology and kinda just asserting themselves. Thyrsus being powerful at this shouldn't be surprising given the apocalyptic power mages have at 4 dots of ummm... anything.

I agree that a gravity spell that follows a target should be possible. The subject of a spell is what is being affected in the Imago, and I'll claim what the spell does is makes gravity do what the mage wishes at 2 dots. As an area of effect, all gravity relations shift to the Mages whims. Only Earth matters here, if I say gravity now goes up, people fall up in that area, but it also means that the gravity between any objects inside the aoe also now repel each other, but, you won't see that because their gravity is already so weak.

So, as an AoE, Control Gravity should affect all...

I haven't gotten past the introduction of Signs yet due to work, but, before it was released, the way I solved this exacr problem is politics.

I had the Consilium harass the player for their stockpiled tass and how much they need it and the player agreed to sell their excess tass for cash. Not an immense amount but the player owed the Consilium a debt so, the player themselves thought it was a good trade. Meanwhile the character was pretty alarmed by all the constant clamours for "hey can you sell this tass please?"

  • They do sell condition cards but flash cards would work just as well.

The most interesting thing about conditions, if you didn't know yet, is that they award beats (fractions of xp) for clearing them. So you can get stronger from facing adverse conditions/debuffs basically. Cool right?

What do most people think of it as then? When I first read the book I was blown away by how "accurate" it was, or how much it fit to what I'd expected and hoped....

What are you looking for? My bias is clear, I like critters. So I'd recommend Intruders, encounters with the abyss, as well as Summoners. Outside of Beast, the Astral is the only mage-specific phenomenon that can be easily encountered. (pending signs of sorcery, thats not out yet). So Astral Realms and the core will have you covered for awhile. Focus on your passions first Id say, and spread out as things become stale.

But, when book recommendations come up you'll hear a lot of "Get the Seers book" and they're right if you're going to cover the Seers of the Throne or do...

PDFs are quicker and cheaper if you don't hate them.

If they're okay, I recommend grabbing the 1st edition book called Astral Realms. SO fun! So much astral projecting! Its relatively cheap in pdf form

  • As the others explained, after casting the ST will probably keep the Withstand a secret. The player can guess the Withstand by observing how well the spell is working but it is a guess.

One time a player of mine knew how Withstand works (a spell withstood continues to exist but doesn't appear to do anything) and when he was cast on by a mastigos hoping to control him, the spell wasn't strong enough. But his character acted like he was under control and fooled the mastigos with a subterfuge roll and successfully stole a thing he needed.

I feel examples help with things...

  • I didn't think Attainments USE spellslots! They do??

EDIT: I cant find anything on the matter but my gut says that you'd never need a shield-bearer for an Attainment because they dont use up spellslots so a sleepwalker would never need to *hold* the attainment....

  • Thiiis this this this

For all the peeps I've run for, the best part of our mostly short games (aside for one long 1 on 1 one still going) was the Awakenings and most peeps I've run wanted Mastigos Awakenings.

There are also drawings of the Watchtowers in the 1e book that might be fun for inspiration.

I characterize my Watchtowers based on a players preferences. I feel they should be dripping with symbols of the Arcana and Path, the towers themselves giving an idea of the flavor of the Mastigos by look, such as the Iron coming from a person's will and not...

  • I dont think so but only because of the "rage" part. Being under control is what makes wisdom. Paradoxically (fitting given inuring invokes it), lopping off heads with calculation and a stone-cold plan would not, after inuring. Thats my interpretation at least.

See the wisdom system is meant to fascilitate engaging characters, but people usually treat it as a pure punishment system.

I think its fun to try and maintain a wisdom score that makes sense for how you play. For me thats Wisdom 5, not a very wise mage but eager to help people, just incautious and stubborn....

May I ask where in the 2E book it mentions that seeing a packmate go into kuruth triggers death rage in the other packmates? I'd heard it but never found it myself, Id appreciate the help!...

  • I know this is going to sound reaaaaally freaking stupid? But I've recently been on an old cartoon-network cartoons binge trying to remember what kind of fever dream my childhood was (long story short it was a fever dream surprise!)

Which made me watch Cow and Chicken. At first I was like "whyyy did I watch this as a kid again" but then I suddenly became *fascinated* when my brain was like "OMG THE RED GUY IS TRUE FAE AND COW AND CHICKEN ARE IN ARCADIA" and I was actually laughing more at how much Red Guy *fits* as Fae than I was at the actual show. The way he...
