    • WLW and/or ace women.
    • Scarring and/or a missing eye, often presented as adding to a character's visual appeal.
    • Involvement in the criminal underworld, organized crime, etc.
    • Usually social and/or mental over physical focus. Bureaucracy often.
    • Guilt or regret.

  • I like how the setting was built to readily accommodate a spread of various flavors of pulp adventure---vikingesque or sword-and-snowshoe (yes that is now a genre) in the North, jungles and lost temples out East, a whole mess of places for diplomacy or conquest or kingdom-building in the Scavenger Lands, sword-and-sandal in the treasure-hiding deserts down South, all sorts of nautical nonsense West, and courtly intrigue on the Blessed Isle. It's a lot more flexible than that, of course, but it lays out those various welcome mats and lets the players and ST come at them.

This seems pretty sensible. I like how Double Initiative is able to be shut down, albeit with some difficulty. Precise Decisive is also good. It feels like this setup means that the big boss can more feasibly "afford" to be hit with Withering attacks without being a constant pushover, so PCs can still be reaping good Initiative returns even as the boss continues to be threatening.

How does this interact with Defense resetting? Does the boss's Defense only refresh on its first action in a round, or does it refresh on both its actions?

I like that approach, especially with all the ghostly foibles to play on---the dead sustain themselves on passion, and ghostly existence has often been presented as having a lot of performative behavior for the sake of evoking those passions and feeling a little less far from life. Lay things out the right way and even a Deathlord might play along for the sake of passion even when they know they could take a more efficient option, because they think they can afford to indulge like that....

I find that non-hyperfocused Solars helps make for a Solar-Lunar game that doesn't feel unbalanced. It also helps when people are occupying different niches. I'm in a mixed game where we have a tuff No Moon and a Brawl Dawn, and a Performance Zenith and a Changing Moon. While those two pairs of characters have a lot of capability in the same general areas (fightin' for the former two, socialin' for the latter two), they have different approaches and are also just different characters. The No Moon's got sorcery and spirit-bonking stuff, while the Dawn has some War investment. Likewise, the Zenith...
