I tried running EX3 for IRL pals a while back (pre-What Fire Has Wrought; I used Crumple's brew to make the DB NPCs) and they said they didn't really enjoy the system. I'd love if this were a system to have Exalted fun with people who don't jive with the regular ruleset.

And the only one whose SMA I remember is that one. I remember being on board with it.

I second Lanaya's Abyssals; unlike mine, it's got really focused, thought-out thematics and works to diverge from the Solar equivalent charms. There might be some balance questions, but I'unno.
Similarly, I'm a huge fan of Lanaya's Infernals. It's... admittedly a good deal rougher, but it takes a rather good run at Ability-based Infernals and I would describe it as having good energy. Some things are wonky (the Ride tree is... basically a stick in the ground, though the few charms it does have are nice) but almost every tree reflects at least two Yozis except for like... a couple.

For the weapon issue, I don't really know.
Those are both going to be kept in mind for when I begin my second pass.

Coming at this late, but I figured I'd put in my two cents.
I'm currently working-ish on a 3e Sidereal brew, and currently I'm sticking with the way the Sidereal Excellency is presented in the Iron Siaka statblock, as well as replicating the Charms presented therein. From the perspective of designing a charmset (which is a combination of drawing on existing Sidereal brews that had bits I liked but didn't do it for me, drawing on old-edition material, and just making stuff up), the Sidereal Excellency and its particulars make for an interesting, kind of weird hurdle.
For one...
