I recall rapiers being called Fellstings? Not sure if that helps, but maybe something that contributes to your Google-Fu?

Is Starmetal still made from dead Gods and/or the remains of said dead Gods? I thought that concept was done away with in Third Edition, but I can't find any definitive source on that.

replied to Sorcerous Workings: Where We Make Judgments
Would love to hear some feedback on this working:
A Guildsman has an extremely vain woman he wants to court. He offers her gems and silver, but she considers those gifts insignificant, mostly because the Guildsman has plenty of money: this was no challenging task for him. So, the Guildsman goes to the PC, a sorcerer, and asks the Twilight for a gift.

The idea was as follows: a feather-dress made out of feathers of peacocks, with each feather having been bathed in the waters of a Demesne that makes things cleaner and more beautiful.
The mechanical effects of this dress...

How long after the completion of a Crafting Project am I eligible to trigger the objectives? And does my character have to see the results themselves to gain the Craft XP?
Say my Twilight builds a beautiful sword for a prince of a nearby region, and the circle's Eclipse travels there on horseback to deliver it to the prince, the journey taking several days.
Do I gain the craft XP for the intimacy the prince gains for me after seeing my work?

And how long do Craft Slots remain occupied? Are they immediately cleared after the product is finished, or only after I've received...

replied to how long did the primordial war lasted?
I don't know if the temporal events still exist in Ex3, but I know that in Second Edition the Primordial War did involve time-travel, for a lack of a better word, so I don't know if it can be determined how long the war lasted.

I've done my best to find a conclusive answer to this question, but my Google-Fu is weak, so if this has already been answered, please feel free to link to it.
My actual question relates to General of the All-Seeing Sun. The charm says that the Solar may "choose to split her successes into multiple stratagems."
The biggest question I have is when the player gets to decide to split their successes? Is it before or after comparing it to the opposing general's roll?
In addition, do you divide the threshold successes, or do you need to divide the actually successes you...

  • I think, and I have no real evidence to back this up, is that this was done because of gameplay issues.

Basically, Imagine a table with two Solars, a Twilight sorcerer and a Zenith God-King.
If the Twilight spends all her down-time on Workings, she'll be able to basically fast-forward through that.
However, if the Zenith spends all her time on Leadership, but those Leadership rules require a bunch of scenes to be played out, then the game will quickly start feeling much more focused on the Zenith.

This is my idea, I have no idea if it's correct, but I assume...

  • Have you used the Leadership rules? What can you tell me about them?

So, Exalted 3e has Leadership rules. From page 226 to 229, advice is given to describe what a Leader does and what should happen when one or more of your PC's enter such a situation.
I personally think these rules are awesome, but I've never gotten a chance to really put them to the test. The reason is simple: most of my games don't reach beyond the initial "getting together and running from the Wyld Hunt" part.

I have high hopes (perhaps too high) for my current group to eventually stabilize with a decent-sized power base, however, and would like to hear some of the...

Thank you for answering my questions.

This one is a bit more theoretical: how close do the Gods have to be tied to the daily lives and culture of a group in order to benefit from their worship? And how might the sudden change in their daily lives change the nature of the Gods they worship?

I was wondering this, because in my game I'm planning to have an army of slaves that were taken from various folks. These different people all used to worship different Gods, but now that they are together (and presumably have less time to spend on worship in general), what kinds of...

A question I've been meaning to ask but completely forgot about: Stubborn Boar Defense. What qualifies as "the same issue"?
For example, if my solar resists a seduction attempt, do they permanently gain +2 resolve against all seduction attempts, or only seduction attempts made by that person, or only seduction attempts designed to have my character get intimate with them.
In the case of the last, if someone else tried a persuade with the same goal as the original persuade, Stubborn Boar Defense would still help, but only if it's exactly the same influence?...

  • Let's see... lot of mutations at my table, so Terrestrial 2 comes up a lot.
As for a few workings I've been busy with lately... I was looking through the internet and found some art of the winged hussars.
That immediately inspired me to think of what kind of reason someone would have feathered wings on cavalry in Exalted, and a sorcerous working seems like it'd made the most sense.
The wings allow horse and rider to leap over walls (modeled as Monkey Leap Technique) once per day. This would obviously be really useful for a cavalry charge to bypass a siege directly.
    I think...

It might be helpful if you mention what Edition you are playing.

I personally don't see Castes as a toolbox the character uses, but the tools in that toolbox the character would be most likely to use.
Is this character someone who is likely to resort to violence to solve his problems? Then Full Moon.
The same is true for someone who would resort to social actions and Changing moon, and Knowledge and No Moon.

While this philosophy might be more accurate in Third Edition then in Second Edition, I believe any character can be reasonably competent in whatever...

So, this was a quote of some time ago, but it recently came up in my game.
Basically, I'm wondering if all of these powers count as Terrestrial Circle Workings? And if so, what Ambition?
The wings and the sinews seem like they'd count as mutations, so Ambition 2, but the hypnotic beauty seems rather powerful for that?

If you have any other examples of the Workings done by Ysyrian Sorcerers to improve themselves that you'd be willing to share, I'd love that. Or maybe some suggestions of places to get ideas from? I find myself a little stumped on creating interesting sorcerous...

Was really excited to hear Dragon-Blooded will have some sorcery! Thanks to Eric Minton for making that possible!

Now, for my question: in investigation, there are two options for taking, roughly: Case Scene and Profile Character. Both of which tend to take a bit of time.
However, a regular Case Scene action can be done in a handful of seconds using Crafty Observation Method, which is an Essence 1 charm, where Profile Character can't be sped up until Ten Magistrate Eyes.
Was this intentional design, or would a charm that sped up Profile Character like Crafty Observation...

Huh, lower then I would've guessed. Cool.
And that makes a lot of sense, now that I re-read it.

One more question: Harmonious Academic Methodology gives you a Lore Specialty at the end of every story, but it gives you a Lore "Topic" if you succeed at a moderately or extremely difficult roll.
Is this topic also a specialty (and thus gives +1 dice and all the other goodies) or is it simply a concept the Solar now understands more about and can thus make rolls about, but it doesn't add dice?...

What would the approximate Ambition be to perform a Sorcerous Working to create a pocket dimension that's a big empty field, accessible through a specific ritual? Does the ambition change if it's accessible through a stationary portal of some kind?

And, if it's not too much to ask: what is the purpose of Truth-Rendering Gaze? What does this charm do that you couldn't already do with Introduce a Fact (other then give bonus dice to War or Survival rolls?).

    Thank you for you time.

So, why Appearance gets a pass is a great question for the Ask the Devs thread.
As for animals getting STR higher then 5... well, yeah. They are not human. Exalted are by definition still a little human.
Also, STR has a capbreaking charm (Increasing Strength Exercise). I think it's mostly Dex you should watch out with, since it's used for both defense and accuracy.

Finally: if you are having fun with a game in which this is allowed I can only encourage you to keep playing.
However, I would be worried that if I allowed this in my game, players would be unreasonably...

Two quick questions related to Craft:

    • If I use Shattering Grasp on pottery, will I end up with clay or pottery shards? Can this charm undo the forging?
    • Would someone with a high rating in Craft (Alchemy) know the secrets of something like Greek Fire, or is that more the purview of Lore?
