As long as you are not under any time constraints, you may ignore mana costs for spells or other expenses while outside, as you take time to eat more tass.

    Moonstone
Yes, you were definitely mind-whammied. The realization makes you irritated. But rather than let your emotions roll over you like a tidal wave, you channel mana (of which there is more readily available) into your Pattern and reinforce your mental fortitude.

Being a Mage sure is convenient.

With your increased clarity of mind, you try to evaluate the situation to better...

By looking around your immediate area, you see that these flowers aren't just odd in their color; they're simply everywhere. You've seen the occasional yard in the summer in which the owners let the dandelions grow out of control, and maybe that's not so strange. But to see multiple yards along the street covered in these strange plants? That's not normal. In addition, they seem even more prevalent as you look to the east and north along the side streets here. You aren't sure why that would happen, except for a supernatural explanation.

    Lynx's brief synopsis reminds...

It doesn't taste particularly good...about as good as eating a real dandelion would, you expect. But unlike the natural plant, when you chew on the flower and swallow, you feel a small burst of energy become absorbed into your body and enter your internal "well" of mana.

Otherwise, you don't feel any different.

Gain 1 mana. And take an arcane beat for being the first to take the plunge.

You study the "dandelion" with a critical eye, and as your spell settles on the flower, you instinctively know that this plant has no physical toxins, poison, or any other inherent quality that might hurt you physically. Between the spell and the results of briefly studying it with your Sight, you have no reason to suggest that eating the plant could harm you, and every reason to suggest that ingesting it should restore a fraction of your mana.

You don't have clear answers about the odd images that are still drifting through your mind, but for the moment at least, you are able to force yourself to focus on the problems at hand. You push the images and memories (if that's what they even are) into the corners of your mind.

    Binder
I didn't see you allocate reach for instant casting, so I added that and modified your Paradox roll. Instead of being a chance die, that brings it to 1d10: still no successes.

You take your brass knife, your Dedicated Tool, and gently touch it to your forehead...

  • crapcarp - Hey, no worries at all. I'm glad you're back, and sorry to hear that you didn't receive the response you were hoping for in your other discussion. You are definitely appreciated and valued here in our threads! Thanks for all the neat ideas and entertainment you've brought to this game.

In regards to Phoenix's silence, I love the idea of him arriving late due to personal issues with a new angle. When you have time and feel so inclined, I would love you to flesh out that idea and describe it here. I don't think you've introduced her concept before, right? What's her name,...

You left so quickly that you're not even thinking clearly. It's a struggle for you to see beyond the "mission", the hunger, forced into the front of your mind. You sprint north and cut to the east, running along Woodlawn Avenue as you make your way to the next block.

Although you clearly are focused on moving, it's impossible not to notice something that your mind latches on to: There are a lot more of those purple "dandelions" growing here. They are sprouting throughout every lawn on this street, clumping densely in some places. Patches of lawn...

  • Caladriu - Yes, that seems great to me. And if you disagree about a ruling, you can always tell me, and we can talk about it. I honestly don't always remember what I've said before about things, and my understanding of the mechanics is always growing (I hope). I just thought that using Space that way should require you to either account for the Area or some kind of Withstand. Knowing their destination without Area seems more like something a Mind spell would be useful for, like just scanning their surface thoughts to see the image or intent in their mind.

    @KKV - Well, oops, I forgot...

Ironically, looking into the mirror reveals the answer you seek in both its literal and symbolic reflection: An internal compass springs into existence in your mind, and it seems to be pointing due northeast. From where you are standing, facing to the north on Edgewood Avenue, you see the ghosts passing east along Woodlawn Avenue and then back north at the next block over, Malden Avenue.

You have only rarely had the opportunity to see ghosts -- truly see them in the literal sense, due to your previous lack of Mage Sight as a Sleepwalker. However, you've helped Hakim's...

  • Paging MagicSwordsman and crapcarp, in case you want to get in on some of this action too. I'm assuming Binder and Phoenix would have some valuable information to add here.

You run through a few ideas in your head, using your budding knowledge of Supernal magic and the arcane, and generate a few possible working hypotheses.

There's the possibility that the magic here was created by a much powerful mage, but you know that Mathias' spells can still give you that odd feeling on your Periphery of your Sight. Perhaps this mage, if one is indeed involved, also used some way to mask or obscure the source of his magic? But you're not even sure if this is caused by a mage or a spell; for all you know, some ephemeral entity could have caused this....

  • Put up a new post. A few corrections/comments/clarificatons:

Thorbes - In interest of saving time in a PBP game, you can go ahead and describe/roll for any spell that you would offer to cast. Anyone who wouldn't let you cast the spell can just mention so in their next post, or post here. I'm assuming you're looking at something like Speak with the Dead?

Haberdasher - You actually wouldn't be able to see Moonstone's familiar at all, at least not unless you use some spell effect to be able to observe ephemeral entities in Twilight. The ability to detect Goetia with your...

As you're walking and talking with the rest of the Stormborne, you're also keenly studying the neighborhood. While doing so, you notice something strange: the streets are unusually quiet for this time of day. On a normal weekday morning, there would be a string of cars on the street as people leave for work, especially for those who need to commute to Chicago or one of the other suburbs to the east. Your guess is that the traffic and pedestrian activity here is simply too quiet.

    Lynx
As far as you can tell, this is just a pleasant suburban neighborhood....

  • New post is up!

FYI, this always amused me when I was in the area, but La Grange Park is a town, not a park. And it's distinct from La Grange...sort of. People tended to lump the two together. So, you're all meeting in a subdivision of a suburban neighborhood, not a literal park.

If you haven't done so recently, please update your post header with correct stats (e.g., remove all bashing damage) and active spell list. Also, I am going to review the list of current aspirations tomorrow or Thursday, so please review your character sheet here on the OOC thread to make sure that you have 3 current aspirations (2 short-term, 1 long-term).

Ragnar soon sends out a group text to everyone in the Stormeborne cabal, helping you to stay in contact and inviting everyone over to La Grange to investigate this odd disturbance together. After successfully dealing...

  • Ok, cool guys. Sounds like no one had any specific things they needed/wanted to add, so I'll just keep things moving swiftly along.

crapcarp - FYI, you can only scour your Pattern to get mana by targeting a physical attribute (Strength, Dexterity, or Stamina); you can't use Presence.

For everyone else: crapcarp is right, I forgot to mention that only Binder and Ouroboros Ophis would have regenerated Willpower during the night. As far as I can see from the rule book, you only regain a point of Willpower if you had a restful, peaceful night.
