  • New post is up!

FYI, this always amused me when I was in the area, but La Grange Park is a town, not a park. And it's distinct from La Grange...sort of. People tended to lump the two together. So, you're all meeting in a subdivision of a suburban neighborhood, not a literal park.

  • Everyone
If you haven't done so recently, please update your post header with correct stats (e.g., remove all bashing damage) and active spell list. Also, I am going to review the list of current aspirations tomorrow or Thursday, so please review your character sheet here on the OOC thread to make sure that you have 3 current aspirations (2 short-term, 1 long-term).

Ragnar soon sends out a group text to everyone in the Stormeborne cabal, helping you to stay in contact and inviting everyone over to La Grange to investigate this odd disturbance together. After successfully dealing...

  • Ok, cool guys. Sounds like no one had any specific things they needed/wanted to add, so I'll just keep things moving swiftly along.

crapcarp - FYI, you can only scour your Pattern to get mana by targeting a physical attribute (Strength, Dexterity, or Stamina); you can't use Presence.

For everyone else: crapcarp is right, I forgot to mention that only Binder and Ouroboros Ophis would have regenerated Willpower during the night. As far as I can see from the rule book, you only regain a point of Willpower if you had a restful, peaceful night.

  • I'll wait another day or two to give Thorbes and MagicSwordsman each a chance to post if interested, since we haven't heard from them yet.

Otherwise, what are the rest of you planning to do? Am I assuming correctly that the cabal would head to the general area, or do any of you have other things you would want to do first?

At the conclusion of your lesson, when you crystallize your thoughts and attempt to project them to Valentine, there is a moment in which your mentor blinks and studies you quizzically. And then, shortly after, you feel a phantom breeze and a chill down your spine as Valentine asserts his will on the world...and your mind.

You have an odd sensation like an itch on the edge of your senses, or of your skin brushing against leaves as you try to walk through a forest of large trees. Then, you feel more than hear Valentine's consciousness pressing up against yours: <Very...

  • Caladriu - Thanks!

Question for you: Is there some simple spell I'm not familiar with that you're using here to contact him, or is Moonstone kind of just projecting his thoughts and assuming Valentine is listening? I like the idea of the latter because so far Valentine has seemed near-omnipresent and Moonstone still doesn't really know what he does and doesn't know about magic.

You breathe in Life, invigorating your body and easing the tension in your muscles almost instantaneously. Your body simply obeys your will and recovers from the strain it experienced during the night.

You see numbers for Valentine, Mathias, and Boomer in your phone. You send your message to Valentine, but he doesn't respond right away. By the time you send it, Ewan has already left and you have the apartment to yourself.

Taking a warm shower further helps to relax your body and your mind. After a leisurely shower, you check your phone again and see a brief...

  • New post is up!! Finally. Sorry about the delay.

I am still going to do my best to follow my schedule of replying to all IC posts within 3 days. I have been the main reason our posting schedule has slowed down, and I would like to turn that around.

If you have questions about the scene, post here! Came up with this idea recently and I'm excited to play it out.

Boomer nods to you at your question. "There are a couple, yeah. Sometimes just making a perfect Imago or crafting your spell just right will create personal mana. Some spells that come naturally to you, called a Praxis, are easier to do this with, so some mages cast those to recharge. Prime magic lets you move mana around from other people or objects, with the right spell. But there are also some places you can go where mana naturally springs up, or things you can do to generate mana from your own body."

She briefly explains how you can temporarily sap your...

  • Updates:

Good news: We put an offer on a house that we love and it was accepted!!

Bad news: My life has been ridiculously busy this week. Work and house stuff have been crazy.

I have a draft in my head of a post and next scene for us to explore. Just need to write it up and we can get moving again. I'm sorry I have been the holdup here.

  • I have a very light day for scheduled appointments at work, so as long as unexpected things don't come up all day, I plan to put up then next post today.

My wife and I decided to try and buy our first home this summer, so we have been spending a lot of time this week speaking with loan officers and real estate agents, looking up home listings, and talking about that process. It's taking up a lot of my time but I'm looking forward to moving on in this game. I'll do everything I can to get us back up and running.

  • I'm guessing at this point that no one else has anything they want to add before ending the scene, so I'll work on the next post and try to get us back on track with the full group.

  • Where can I find some general tips as a Storyteller for creating balanced conflict scenarios? I have an upcoming scene that pits the newly formed cabal of players (6 mages, Gnosis 1) against a Gulmoth they previously beat but didn't destroy. If I wanted other antagonists there, like more spirits or a Mage, how do I make that fair without it being anticlimactic or an accidental party wipe?

  • I am looking for a link I saved somewhere but haven't been able to find it. It included ideas for AD variant rules, mostly built around new Conditions and maneuvers. I'll see if I can find it, but I think what AD needs is a way to allow more skillful dueling approaches to influence the outcome rather than pure dice rolls.

  • How does lucid dreaming work? I know the Mage 2E book has rules for how to start a lucid dream, but what about creating or changing the dream state once you're in it? Rolls and mechanics are probably not needed in most situations where someone is in their own dream, but what if a Mage enters your lucid dream using Mind magic?

Would Clash of Wills be the primary mechanic to help you resolve issues here? Or maybe contested Resolve + Composure rolls?

I'm thinking like if you wanted to go into someone's dream to scare or torture them, for example, and try to will them into...

  • A few more than 3 days but I have been working on this post on and off this week. I actually tried to finish last night but I kept nodding off. :P

I believe that we are now ready to move on! I'll wait a little bit just in case Caladriu, MagicSwordsman, or crapcarp want to reply to their most recent posts. Otherwise I'll shift gears and start the next scene soon.

"Summoning" the objects you desire takes no more than a thought -- although keeping your thoughts focused here is difficult. These objects are simple enough that it's not a challenge, but you get the feeling that asserting your will over a dream-state might require a bit of finesse and practice.

Spade snickers. 'Kid, I like you. You've got class. Be careful here, though," he cautions in a more serious tone. 'Goetia can be pretty damn strong, especially on their home turf. Maybe do some of your homework before trying to take some jaunts into the real...
