I also have found players with more skill dots than makes sense for the characters.

  • It's less "a bunch of kiths were added", and more "there is a handful of kiths in 2e, with a portion of them being new"

  • Vampire has devotions, covenant powers, and bloodlines in addition to just discipline dots. Werewolf has an immensely large number of different gifts and rites to choose from with little risk of accidental overlap. Changeling is like werewolf with immense number of contracts and different types of contracts so each changeling can have very niche and specific powersets, especially 2e with all contracts being modified by your seeming.

I do think ceremonies will have a decent chance of helping to mitigate my worries, but it does sound like the game will have a lot of overlap in regards...

  • I'm not saying they need to go back to the 1e where every key dot + haunt dot combination had unique things, I agree that it was far too much and made creating content a massive pain. I just find it less interesting that there are only differences in what the sin-eaters can do from dots of haunts with no customization. Meaning a krewe of sin-eaters will basically have to make sure they don't overlap what haunts they have.

Being able to cover the previous powers wasn't my issue. The worry is over the cast looking very very similar to each other when it comes to their powers...

  • I am abit disappointed that Keys no longer change what you can do with Haunts, that every Sin-Eater's curse/dirge/rage/etc. is the same as every other curse/dirge/rage/etc.

  • There has been no official mention of it. It just was removed from Core and there hasn't been any dev comment on it's lack of appearance....

  • Since Common Contracts are worth two or three dots of the old system, and Royal Contracts are worth 4 or 5. I'd have it so Minor Favour can get you a unique seeming bonus to modify a Common Contract you have, as a Medial Favour you can do the same for a Royal Contract, and as a Major Favour you can gain a Common Contract.

That sort of thing is more handled by the loophole mechanic rather than bonuses....

  • I think the largest potential issue is that with a super wide magic system, it minimizes on the "Bargaining" aspect of Changeling if you can just get any sort of magical effect without having to make deals to get like a goblin contractor or something for it. So could just take the Goblin Vow system from David Hill's 2e Changeling?

Make deals with nearby aspects of reality for temporary powers or boons. It's very flexible and able to provide many different abilities while still having the player act like a changeling.

  • Finally had time to work on this some more.
    • First draft of the Introduction chapter is done (I'm not including narrative bits in the completed-ness status because those will either be done last or not at all).
    • Chapter One is has the fundamentals all written down. Just need to put in stereotypes, windrunner/wingfolk fluff, and expand the fluff of the accords.
    • Chapter Two has general rakshasa information, info on how to handle the differences between this and changing breeds (with examples on how to make many different types of shapeshifters for different themes).
    • Chapter Three has all the

  • What? We just said that they can do anything they can do in the waking world in the dreams.... So they can use their nightmares/atavisms/open primordial paths/lair traits. and they can feed on people's fears in dreams. They just don't get any special systems for influencing dreams beyond "travel into dream and do stuff in it using their various abilities"....

  • They can: "don't have any special powers to influence the dream beyond what you could do in meatspace." Means you can do the things you could do in the waking world there, which includes atavisms/lair traits/etc., you just don't get anything special for travelling into a dream....
