  • This first part of this plot hook finally came to a head in a session last night, which saw 3 solars and their liminal ally face off against 8 immaculates and 12 dynasts leading 100 soldiers and close to 1000 slaves.

In this instance, Mists of Eventide was an incredibly powerful spell. The Twilight managed to cast it despite a counterspell attempt, and as I was just using the quick character stats at the back of the 3e core, almost no-one had any heightened resistance to poisons. Within a couple of combat rounds the majority of the mortals and exalts were asleep (and as it's the sorcerer's...

  • Speaking of Demon Summoning in 2E - in my current 2E game, I gave my PCs an N/A rated artifact in the second session of the game. It's called The heart of the Desert, and is a large piece of black jade that holds one of Ceclyene's souls. It allows any essence user to summon any circle of demon instantly, provided they have the base essence rating needed to summon that demon. The PCs used in once to summon a couple of hopping puppeteers to help a village, and then promptly locked it in a vault beneath a manse to be never looked upon again.

You can imagine how disappointed I was at...

Not a demon cult, but one of the PCs in my 2E game is still struggling to let go of their devout Immaculate beliefs, particularly the part about protecting those beneath you, and the controlling of spirits (which created a warped version of the creation ruling mandate in their mind)...

  • One of my current major plots involves an unbound 2cd - it's a 2e game and a custom demon I've written who is part of Cecylene and a weaver and binder of essence who captures mortals and transforms them into semi-demon minions. It (nominally 'she' is modelled after a sorcerous hive queen. She takes a big risk in grabbing a handful of mortals and transforming them, then send them out to grab more mortals and allows her to build her nest. As a perversion of the primordial's whim, she creates minions to give her worship and bolster her power, which allows for larger and weirder sorcerous undertakings....

I just finished watching this and just knew there would be a thread here already.

As well as the autothonian vibe, the aesthetic of the people running around in their (helmetals?) struck me as a good model for a Gunshoza troop....

Give them a wagon full/o/stuff and/or retinue as defined by their backgrounds, and give those things a certain amount of narrative immunity. If they get stolen, they more or less get them back. If they need something practical in a hurry, they may not have it magically appear, but might have the resources to procure it....

In this instance, who is probably less important than the action itself (i can account for just about any 'who' in the story.) - an Abyssal would be fine, or an Infernal if they can do Necromancy. Though if there's a way mortals or even demons who know sorcery could do it then that would be slightly better...

In 2E, what would it take to kill 1000 people and raise them as zombies in the space of a month?

How big is the exalted playerbase these days?

Is there anyway to find out how big the exalted player base is these days?

Are sales figures from drivethrurpg of the core book publicly available? Or are there any other indicators worth checking out?

One thing to remember is that blackmail requires social consequences. Your characters have to have relationships or a reputation that matters to them and that can be placed in jeopardy as a result of the blackmailers actions.

This can be one of the biggest obstacles in a role playing game given the tendency towards murder-hobo-ness of player characters.

If you're playing a terrestrial game or a game based on political intrigue then you've got a much stronger position to work from, and I find that even for the most murder-hobo of solar games, relationships with spirit...

  • While Cytherea and I had a bit more back-and-forth via private messages, I did devise a campaign outline, which I finally got around to posting online for anyone who is interested:

2E mass combat question (which I suspect I've asked before but can't find/remember the answer to)

When a solo unit fight sin mass combat, are they similarly limited to their War skill? or do they just use their normal combat abilities?

What would be the composition of an Undead army that's actually a threat in creation? Does it have to be made up of zombies and physical object or is there a way a death Lord can lead an Army of Ghosts out of a Shadowland?

Does didereal astrology work on the dead? And can sidereal say use shadowlands as places to have relatively secret meetings?

Also - previous sessions had been occupied with the perils of desert travel.

Now, the player primes an ally with a dream of a first age airship that needs no crew and is navigated by the will of the pilot. All he has to do is keep a hold of the wheel. Makes him pretty useless in a fight, but it's adds an element of weirdness and wonder to the game.
