    Cool, Thanks! (runs off to write stuff, stops, runs back)
    So, uh, Mortals and necromancy. Can a mortal be initiated into necromancy, possibly by sacrificing their ability to learn sorcery? Or is that off the table like in 2e?...

    What theme concepts would your recommend for necromantic initiations that we could homebrew? Like, what experience(s) could lead you to be initiated into necromancy?
    I doubt you'll do this, but feel free to use your written initiation as an example. ;D...

    I saw this mutation in the first edition Lunars book pg. 218. Blight: Skin-Changer. Basically it allows the mutant to change into another being by surgically removing the victim's skin and wearing it. it lasts a few days unless damaged or removed. The skin can last indefinitely if the victim is kept alive.
    Would this fit into 3ed's mutation system, be better as a thaumaturgic ritual, or should it be left out entirely?
    I know that 2ed left it out entirely, but I like the idea of Lunars being the best shapeshifters and not just the only ones who can shapeshift.

    Thanks guys for these answers, they really help.
    I know this probably varies depending on location, but I'm wondering what the prevailing court system is in creation.
    Would it be;
    The King's Court - most court decisions are made at the highest level of government available and delineated through lords and counts. (like early earth history and certain feudalisms)
    Magistrate - Laws are handed out by the government, but actual court decisions are left to an appointed magistrate. (Later feudalisms, most of Earth by about the 1300s AD)
    Trial by Jury - A group of individuals...

  • ah, I forgot one of the things in the calculation. But also, don't forget stunting and "situational" bonuses. There's exceptional tools, people helping, and other, more... unusual, aid.This could potentially bring up the dice pool. However, I do see your point. Sorcerous workings seem to be the better option in that case.
    Crafter makes an Artifact with magic and plays it off as though he made it by hand. Spends the rest of his days thinking he's a fraud. That's a decent character plot. hmmm...

  • I'm not sure where you guys are getting that mortals can't make level 3 Artifacts at all. Reading the text indicates that it would be difficult, VERY difficult, like trying the skills of a master mortal artificer hard (assuming he doesn't just use a sorcerous working). But artifact 3 seems at least possible for an artifact maker even if such an artifact might be the only one they make. Like the level 3 daiklaive that acts as the symbol of a crafter's skill, even though he could never repeat the act. Sorcery muddies the waters a bit more.
    Also, I seem to recall someone (a dev) mentioning...

    About how many Liminals are there in creation? I wouldn't think there are very many. I would assume that the Dark Mother doesn't raise every body someone is desperate to bring to life. Maybe something like a few hundred people have tried and maybe a couple dozen actually became Liminals?

    So, are stars still (and I'm struggling to describe this right) a representation of how peoples' and things' actions affect the Loom of Fate? Like can you work out a rough future by studying the stars with Lore or Occult? Do major players in fate still get represented by brighter stars? I would assume that anything too specific would require at least a thaumaturgic ritual. Finally, would there be a way to MAKE a star fall from the sky? Like killing one of those major players? Or is it some other ineffable effect that causes that?...
