  • Personally, I am in favor of everyone getting the same number of Ability dots. If Solars and probably Lunars get the same number of dots no matter their amount of implied-by-backstory training and education, why should DBs get more? One of the things I didn't like about 2e was how Outcastes got less dots than Realm/Lookshy DBs and Ronin Sidereals got less than Heaven-employed ones.
Why should some of the splats get "optimize your backstory for more dots" as a thing?

"I'm Prince Diamond, a scion of warrior nobility that ruled my land of origin. My incredibly rich...

Keep in mind whoever made Volcano Cutter gave it a second handle mid-blade for better small-space fighting and for better plunging it into the earth and taking it back.

So, no "lol random", they had a pretty good idea of what to expect of it and it is likely that another user wouldn't get extremely different evocations out of it.

Maybe another user gets it to do more precise erupting fissures instead of massive explosions or whatever, but it is likely always gonna be a thing which you use by stabbing Creation to make volcano-like or volcano-adjacent effect...

  • How does that fix the Batman being the world's greatest detective in a world with Exalts who can use Investigation Charms?...

  • Well, the obvious exploit is "use it after I achieved a ton of Initiative, instantly creating another source of potentially devasting Decisive damage". Up to you if that potential is balanced by not having the extra individual attacker until then.

Depending on exactly what/how that shakes out to be in the final system, "distant supreme deity" concepts like Nyame might fit as a unusually human-well-being-interested Titan or Primordial (I think was the term)

I liked the WW movie a little better, maaaaybe up to a 3.5, though keep in mind that, despite being a big superhero fan, I don't think any of the supers' movies could be called an instant classic. The good ones will range from 3 to 4 at most for me.

Now, on a scale of 0 to 5 specifically for action blockbusters, I'd say it is worth a 4, though again I'm biased in favor of superhero movies.

  • You know, it kinda sucks that someone going by the name Victoria Justice is doing acting, music and stuff like that. That name should be carried by a cop, a lawyer or judge, or perhaps by a luchadora.

That feels like way too much for me. What are your points of reference to arrive at that figure?

Anyway, I guess ultimately AnubisXy has the right of it, depends on the game. If I want, say, an Essence 4 Solar to be just barely able to do it, then the distance is enough to be very taxing for the Essence pool of an Essence 4 solar....

started a topic Range bands to celestial objects

    Range bands to celestial objects

So, say a Solar who Eagle-Wing Style wants to outdo golden age Superman and jump to the moon in a single bound. They activate Mountain-Crossing Leap Technique followed by the special activation of Eagle-Wing Style, jumping five range bands up in the first turn. As long as the Solar can burn 2 motes or 2 Initiative, they can keep going 1 range band up each turn.

How many additional turns do you people figure it would take our Solar jumper to get there (or, in other words, how far past 5 range bands would you put the moon and similarly far away celestial objects)?

If every single thing has understandable motivations, the killing-missive Charm whose name currently escapes me becomes even more worthless than it already is, in the sense that it now becomes utterly, completely impossible to use.

Also, who is to say that a given being, especially a monster from freaking chaos, can't be established from the get go as having inconsistent motivations? Heck, this is already just about true of the demon wasps. If a creature changes their motivations frequently and randomly or semi-randomly (again, monster born out of pure chaos), even if some things...

  • It just occurred to me that "I temporarily split off a (quickly fading) clone" might be a Lunar approach to an effect similar to Lightning Strikes Twice (from Solar Brawl), with the Lunar splitting off as they attack, and the clone then performing the second attack. This might require them to be able to copy their gear, at least for a few moments, though.

I mean, apparently Lunars might be getting King Cuerno's "Arrow from the Depths of Hell" as a Charm to launch themselves at their opponents. I could see that propelling the foe away sort of like Heaven Thunder...

Before the Egyptian pantheon discussion re-ignites into full traction, could it be taken to another thread and leave this one for asking Neall questions?

Hmm...making their perfect dodge predicated on turning into a bunch of creatures possibly works, but they might need alternatives to deal with things that could hit the entire swarm at once like avalanches and massive explosions. The solution there might be some sort of "survive anything" Stamina Charm instead of Dexterity stuff, though....
