  • Yes. Perfect. Also you caught on oversight on my part with the threat of stacking with the Balanced tag....

  • Okay, great. Remove the hardness clause. The other issue is the mote pool. I think its thematic, but thinking on it, maybe using an adaption of ranged weapon ammo rolls would work better.

Edit: If I stick with a motepool: an exalt attuned to an Artifact Beam Weapon can spend 5 motes to reflexively refill the Beam Weapon's pool when it hits 0 motes. A character Dissonant to the material of the Beam Weapon does not benefit from this effect.

Some Artifacts may not have that, instead with their own effects. Like a Soulsteel Beamklave might instead recharge when it delivers...

  • Now on the subject of converting Beamklaves...

Honestly, more critical to me than getting a 1:1 translation of their mechanics is their feel.

Beamklaives are hard to stop. They get through defenses easier. They ruin mundane ways to stop them.

    They're Overwhelming.

IF you want to make them into a tag, I'd probably make the Beam tag as follows:

Beam: The weapon's Overwheliming rating is increased by 2.

(Hesitant optional feature: Decisive attacks treat the targets hardness as 1 lower. I think the Overwhelming boost is...

  • No. I think the bigger issue is that Autochtonian assumptions on artifacts as industry that prior editions had is still massively up in the air. So people are going to have different interpretations of what honestly would be the most in-flux region of Exalted fluff right now.

We might see Artifice-as-industry once more, but instead as an emphasis on how antithetical to standard creation it is rather than 2e's sort of implied logical conclusion of how it regarded artifacts.

Of course, said Artifice-as-industry may have forging a Daiklave feel more like the Manhatten Project...

  • Unison feels very Guyver or Marvel Symbiote-esque to me. It's very much something I might have to seriously consider for future characters I make. I especially like the fact that it adopts the iconography of the wearer, either based on their Anima or their Totem.

It's on my homebrew list for when Lunars drop. (Mostly to create alternate Evocations for the ones based on Solar charms. Either assigning an appropriate charm to the equivalent effect... Or something more)...

So as not to sidetrack the thread, I have to phrase this as a question to the devs.

In Jen's scenario, what are the odds said Dragonblood does both?...

  • There are three reasons I imagine why:

1: Eh, you really only need 1 arm anyway.
2: You can always use it as a means for a working
3: You can always just replace it with a kickass prosthetic you sorcered up

(This may highlight how flippant about their own body and conventions I like to depict sorcerers.)...

...A warning from my experience with another fandom: don't take the puzzle too seriously.

I've been part of the Legend of Zelda community for a long time. Its probably the first fandom I was a part of.

Everyone had their own pet timeline and no one could fully agree....

started a topic Silly Unhelpful Math for Exalted

    Silly Unhelpful Math for Exalted

So, Exalted 3e has some seriously helpful math to use. The most basic piece of math being that 1 success tends to be roughly equal to 2 dice. But we can always take this math even further to get to silly math.

Silly math isn't nearly as helpful as piratical helpful math. But it's fun.

Today I'm going to do some math to see how many dice on a withering attack roll equals an entire health level.

So, first things first, we'll work backwards. It takes a success on a decisive attack to take out one health level. Now, decisive attacks don't normally have double...

For someone possibly wanting to homebrew light (for the sake of martial arts) power armor, what would be some considerations to keep in mind?...

  • Yeah, 3e really made good on the setting promise that Daiklaves aren't just +1 swords.

Only other attempts to do such a thing in rpgs usually have been by de-emphasizing gear to a point of abstraction....

I don't know about the seed, but the Perfect Lotus is a Martial Arts philosophy. It mostly tied into the terrestrial, celestial, and Siderial model of martial arts that 3e pushed away from. In this model, the soil of the perfect lotus was the mortal martial art styles. The root of the perfect lotus was the terristial martial art styles. The stem of the perfect lotus was the celestial martial art styles. The blossom of the perfect lotus is the Siderial martial art styles.

3e has made a pesh that with the exception of Siderial martial art styles, a martial art style is practiced by...

MAYBE Tidus and Jecht from FFX but even then I'd say not really with what I've seen in previews. And even then, only if you squint at them as "people who never-were chosen to break cycles" as equivalent as "people who were unwritten by fate's machinations"...
