    I might be wrong here... but I think the Wood Element in the Exalted cosmology only covers plants. I don't remembering it even covering things like fungi in past editions (I know mushrooms are an entirely different Kingdom, but they are also sesile organisms, which early cultures might not have always destinguished from plants).

    Also, there are no mentions of Wood Animas sprouting bones, fur, exoskeletons, or any other animal derived growth, starngely not even algae (which again I know are not plants, but see my point about how primitive cultures might have considered them plants...

    First thoughts:

    "Somebody really has to tell the art studio that Exalted is not situated in mainland China! Enough East Asia for this edition. How about you draw some inspiration from greek, arabic, african, american, and/or polynesian cultures as well?"

    "Plus, tell them to turn on the lights in their illustrations! They are still murky as heck! Dark dark dark, please experiment with a lighter pallete for the next books."
