  • Just to echo Heavy Arms post that I've cut out due to length - which is far better constructed than I'd have managed - just like PMark I don't tend to know who creates most of the things I consume. But I'm on these and other forums for this hobby and others. Most of the time I don't recognize the names of authors/directors/session musicians etc. But when it comes to criminal activity being exposed I will take notice and I will ensure others do.

What nuWW have done, by not addressing it, is to hope there's no noise so no-one looks into it. As Heavy Arms said, it gives legitimacy to...

  • That's fair enough, but I know from experience that in a few instances across companies that I've been surprised many times by the knowledge and awareness that others have had when I'd thought a certain issue was either predominantly something in forums or on the internet and only really discussed by those "in the know" or who bothered to look for these things. Even some things I wasn't aware of (I read this and other places a hell of a lot more than I post replies, somewhat of a fora-voyeur!) other gamers I speak to regularly have pointed out to me some really interesting and important...

  • It is worth it. Just because you say is isn't worth doesn't mean it isn't worth it. More people know about it than you think - It's why they made the change. If no-one knew, or very few, they wouldn't have even bothered changing anything at all. I've agreed with some of the things you've put thus far and you've made me ponder a few things already about the system/playtest, but I can't agree at all with you on this I'm afraid.

The thing is it's about integrity. Regardless of whether it was evil scheming of "Bwahahaa. We hire stalkers and molesters" or "It'll cost too...

  • I'd say, as a fan of both Nosferatu and (especially) Baali, that I wouldn't. The Nosferatu Curse is that of hideousness and on Embrace (And over the next few nights in my games, Curses don't manifest instantly...) that the actual physical body changes like a permanent flesh-crafting. Baali re-Embrace ends up with a Cainite who looks like a Nosferatu (Or maybe even worse now! Swarm of flies/Unholy aura etc!) but registers via Blood magic as Baali.

Though I'd allow them to receive flesh/bone-crafting to change their appearance as other Kindred without the Nosferatu Curse forcing them...

    replied to Interesting Samedi conceots
I had a LARP Samedi who was a Red Cross doctor who was Embraced and advised to "study the blood" during his first nights. Though our GM had the Samedi as something akin to, but the not the same, as the TT canon. "Study the blood" basically became him finding medical reasons for some Clan weaknesses (Brujah's being a hormonal cascade and stuff).

Of course when he eventually ran out of willing subjects (Which was about 2 nights into his unlife after his Sire had allowed him to investigate his blood as well as my characters own) he started developing his Thanatosis...

  • Hi

I've gypsy friends too, have since I was a little kid, even dated one for a while. They don't really care what they're called, though they generally have the same aversion to people insulting them with normal profanities as most people do, but aside from the "Do you mind being called gypsy or is if "PC" to call you Romany?" argument the bulk of the issues with the book wasn't the term used. It was the content of the book. So my experience tells me THE EXACT OPPOSITE of yours, then again I didn't just ask "What can I call you?". Having hung around with...

  • Hence "like", not the people defending it ARE right-wing - that's not at all what I put. I don't know the politics of each poster nor do I really care. I'm not even in the US and nor would I want to be. But people defending the warning free inclusion of material that others would find problematic have become much more vocal (Regardless of their politics....). Just like how, regardless of their game preferences (!) right wing people got more vocal and loud after Brexit/Trump. Doesn't mean the games defending it are right/left/centre/green or any for of politics....?...

  • It's interesting, some posters are being quite eloquent with their rather patient explanations of why warnings, not censorship, would be sufficient or why things like Black Dog (Which only really resulted in a logo on the back cover, like the Age of Sorrows, or Arthaus (?) ones...) imprint is a good use for this stuff. The content can be there, but it needn't be in the main necessary books for the line, instead put it together in very, very, very, very well researched and throughly well editted books under the imprints. F'rex Shoah is actually a very good book I've not seen many complaints about...

  • Is it just me or was their "The reaction was overwhelmingly positive.." seemed oddly like a certain world leaders "Thank you for confirming to me on three occasions that I was not personally under investigation".........

  • Thing is, you can, in the absence of anything else V5 is currently this playtest. That's it.

Your sentiment that things could change though is correct - it's in an infant stage for sure and hopefully there will be truly monumental changes made as otherwise they'll be alienating huge numbers of people, but seeing as this is what they've been working on and is their baby I don't suspect that feedback will result in "Well, back to 9 stats, no compulsions and lets revise all the Disciplines ...". They may tweak and change a few bits but really the only hope currently is that...

  • I think that about sums up my view on this.

Read the V5 playtest stuff. It's blatantly a fanboys squee-fest over their own personal favourite rules and take on the setting. Which is fine I guess, but it may as well be an entirely new setting and IP as it's only really keeping the trappings and terminology of the VtM line.

Aside the edgy stuff (And probable comedic thigh-rubbing that went into including it!) and the weird system bits (*ahem*FATECypher*ahem*) and the apparent cribbing from other games this doesn't do anything really that I haven't seen in house-rules...
