Honestly I think that there ought to be a "supernal" variant for Sidereals and Lunars, but make it lesser in effect, like choose one attribute/ability for which you can buy charms as if your essence were one higher than normal. It's a decent enough boost to your options, though still far less than what Supernal gives. But as you're playing a character with limited xp to spend on charms it should balance it out by making the sids/lunars be more varied, if for no other reason than they can only become so good in combat so fast.

Well I hope there will be enough to give the Lunars a feeling of using their charm or wit as a weapon in a way that a Solar simply can't. Since Solars are bound to be the best at using specific skill in a specific sort of way, and Lunars aren't as chained to that since they're attribute based and pretty much any attribute could be useful in combat....

Will there be Mental and Social charms that give Lunars a direct way to fight with those attributes?

Also, can a Lunar's tell be an aspect of their normal form that leaks into their shapeshifted states? (IE Eye Color always being the same regardless of form)

Not quite the answer I was asking thinking, so does this mean that any time someone's crashed by you in initiative shift and you effectively trade places in initiative you get two back-to-back rounds? Also in the case the character was crashed by a clash attack on their turn as the higher initiative rating, so does that mean that since they crashed the character, the crasher gets to attack immediately in that case, and then again when they get a higher initiative? The way it's worded is a little weird, does that mean in normal circumstances in a 1:1 fight that a character who crashes someone...

If a character lower in the initiative clashes your character and crashes yours, and an initiative shift occurs, do they get to make two follow up attacks? One on the turn of the clash when the shift occurs, and again because they're now at the top of the initiative tracker.

The problem is that when you're charging so much for Legendary Size, and all the other limitations with animal forms, I'm really concerned this will turn into 2e again where Deadly Beastman Transformation was the meta. This doesn't mean DBT needs more nerfs, this means I'm concerned animals will simply be far far too weak under the proposed rules. Highly limited, less options, etc. sounds like they're going to be pretty meh in combat especially compared to HBT and DBT.

Yeah, that's something that came to my mind and made me a bit worried. Clawstrider is the same way, and with how Lunar excellency seems to be limited to 5 dice, that means you can only ever get up to 5 dice above your natural die pool in animal form which is.. weird (And highly limiting). Honestly I think it'd be easier if it was just "use the die pools of the animal" and if it's over your cap then you can only use stunt+other attribute excellencies. I am hoping that the unarmed accuracy bonus does get added to what the animals to-hit rate is, before calculating whatever the excellency...

Will there be any Martial Arts that Lunars favor (like those designed for them) or Martial Arts they can use while shapeshifted (due to resonating with a Lunar's protean nature)?

Asking since Lunars already pay extra to buy the martial arts ability dots each time they want a new Martial Arts, so even if some of them are discounted for the Martial charms they're still paying more.

So where do accuracy bonuses come into the calculations? Most to-hit die pools have a bonus, do animals have a base accuracy to them? I see things like a Clawstrider has 8 dice to hit with a bite (damage 15) and 12 dice to hit (11 damage) with claws....

From what I know, you can just use the attack pool of the animal you take the form of, as well as their soak, damage totals, etc. When Vance says you calculate using excellency well that has some issues innately: First is calculating where the creature's die pools come from so you know how to properly account for it (do they get the +4/+5 because it's an unarmed attack?) and it may just mean you cannot excellency if it's higher than what you normally could excellency.

Well there lies the issue: The combat focused person who wants to boost their stats with an...

I'm unsure how you'd calculate if it's beyond what you can add from dice. Guessing there'd be a metric. But as Lunars can add most any attribute on top of the most obvious one, getting to the full bonus is probably still possible. That's assuming you're not just given those dice even if it goes past your excellency capacity.

I mean there are other ways to gain a form other than fighting and killing this, that's already been established. So a Lunar can gain forms by playing to their strengths.

I mean, if you're playing someone who relies on their Kaiju as their stick,...

Will there be any charms to help the problem with group stealth? IE a charm that can help your teammates be as stealthy as you are?

Often times I see that Stealth isn't a viable option since usually either you gotta bring the entire group along (And thus everyone needs to be good at stealth), or it's a solitary activity where the rest of their party sits on their hands. Then of course, there's the fact that the more times you roll the more likely any one person is to botch, and it only takes one botch to ruin stealth for everyone.

As far as I know, Hearthstones don't generate additional motes in combat, so you're not really losing out on anything unless you're talking about your out of combat regeneration, which is okay fine. But as far as I know, a Lunar with a hearthstone doesn't get to offset these costs.

Yes, but the problem is that while these forms may be useful in combat, they inhibit charm usage due to ruining your mote economy. Give how much everyone and their mother says you should be very careful about letting exalts get more motes per turn in recovery, I'd imagine that...

It worries me, not that the initial investment is high (warstriders cost 15m), but you can start with a warstrider, sure it's expensive but as far as I know it doesn't penalize your mote recovery heavily for it's use. The only reason that cost makes sense to me is that Warstriders require a Greater Hearthstone to be implanted into them to get them to run, but you're talking a warstrider versus a legendary sized animal. Now I don't know much about Tyrant Lizards, but I don't imagine that they require a greater hearthstone implanted in them to live.

So if it's not because of the hearthstone...

Has it been decided how many merits Lunars will get at character creation?

Also, is there any information how the Lunar's direct blessing/curse charms might work?
