I'm almost back home from my vacation. I have a wedding today and more driving tomorrow, but will hope to have some more info up for you tonight or tomorrow. Haven't had the time to put things up because I can do it much faster on a computer than my phone.

The "drop the rightmost dice for unannounced penalties" is how I've seen it done in the past, too. Obviously the best thing is when you can tell us which attribute+skill-penalty to roll, but sometimes its best if players can just toss a "I roll to sneak" without having to go back and forth about it.

Seriously, though: sober Phoenix is all apathetic work and exercise, the drunk one all too eager to find something resembling happiness in a self-destructive manner - y'know, the Jekyll/Hyde approach, the perfect solution if you want a trainwreck of sizable proportions?

If it's one or the other, though, I see merit in both. If I consider Lynx's perspective, seeing somebody who essentially represses himself in denial and grief would definitely make him want to try to help - drama ahoy! The second option is, of course, more dynamic. Again, from Lynx's perspective, indulgence is great and all, but I think he would be able to tell that Phoenix's doing it to compensate, and will, in turn want to help. If it's an issue of propriety, I reckon we'll communicate if it goes too far, and you'll adjust accordingly?

Thinking on it, the "Jekyll/Hyde" approach makes perfect sense (especially for someone who doesn't mind what package he's dealing with) and makes him even more dynamic in the area. Damn, that's a really nice idea. Thanks KKV!

As for dice rolling, I don't mind signing up to Orokos, though I do want to refrain from signing up now because I don't want to make an account for something and then not use it. As for handling dice rolls, it's generally done as others have stated so far: make the roll, take dice away or make another roll adding to it if need be. Not much I can add to that, I'm afraid.

All three of them have the potential to really help each other grow or emotionally devastate each other, whether or not they get involved with each other. Phoenix is the guy who jumps in bed with you and then ignores you the following day because he doesn't know how to process it; Ragnar has basically been conditioned to take what he can when he can, but is afraid of screwing up a chance for something better; and Lynx is the eager young guy who doesn't really know any better. Three boys who know enough to go after what they want, and not enough to know not to go after it so greedily.

Of course, their carrying-on would also affect the rest of the cabal: Dr. Asphodel and Moonstone watching their own experiences play out before them, and Binder trying desperately to keep the cabal from imploding.

Could be fertile soil for some juicy character stuff, what do you guys think?

Well, in Phoenix's case, he'd probably apologize to you the morning after when he's sobered up and then ignoring you to try and put it behind him as another mistake of his. His drunk self would use sex as another way to forget about the pain, whereas his sober self would realize that could potentially hurt others. Still pretty destructive behavior, though.

crapcarp - What do you want the name of your dojo to be? And just to clarify, do you go by Garrick Royce at the dojo? How many other instructors do you want there to be (if any)? What type of martial arts do you practice/teach? And does anyone there know Phoenix's sympathetic name?
