I'd like to know if that's the case. It'll drastically alter Lynx's actions.

I'm definitely imagining that scene from Doctor Strange with the treadmill floor.
Because this is a Space spell that backfired, I'm going to say that no, Lynx can't move Ragnar by carrying him. There's like a small pocket of dimensional warping around him, such that he simply refuses to move in the right direction when you pull on him. However, I'll say that if you wish, you could end it by taking either of the actions in his place that would do so (casting a Space spell or succeeding on a Wits + Athletics roll as an instant action).

I've got enough XP to buy up Arcana/Gnosis. Is that something I can just do at a dramatic moment, reaching beyond Moonstone's limits, or would it be better to wait until a longer break?

Guyyyyys I am the worst. I'm so sorry I've been absent. This has been lower on my priority list lately and I have totally slacked off, and our momentum has been poor because of that.
I really do like this game and want it to keep moving. Work has been crazy busy so I haven't had down time there to work on posts either. But I'll try to make this more of a priority and keep things going.

I mean, is a game after all, of course there are a lot of things that will take precedence over that (family and work chief amongst them) so I totally understand. I will welcome the continuity of the game so much though, it's been helping me get my mind off certain issues that one should not dwell in.
In short, don't worry about it and welcome back when you are ready.

I hope that you all see this, and I hope that it finds you well. I have a lot of things that went through my mind as I was preparing this post, and I'm still not sure of how to organize them all. But the main thing I wanted to say is that I desperately miss this game and I would love to see if there are enough of you still active on these boards and still interested in this game that you'd be interested in resurrecting it.
I was talking a few weeks ago with one of my best friends IRL about some of the tabletop RPGs I've played in or run, and this game is still near the top of my list. Despite being a PBP game, I loved the thoughtfulness, creativity, and social interaction that went into this game, both on the OOC and IC threads. I still have not been able to play a Mage game in person in the past few years; I've been part of a regular D&D 5e game for going on just over 2 years, but still haven't found the personal time and a group of interested players to play something like this.
I feel that I owe all of you an apology for my communication when we stopped playing. Around the time I went dark on the forums, I was grappling with several personal issues, involving marital problems, adjustments to more responsibilities at work, and a lot of other things demanding my time and attention. On top of that, Onyx Path forums and Orokos were both added to the firewall at my work, so I wasn't able to quickly type up something on my breaks anymore. As my availability waned, I started feeling more pressure to keep up with quality posts and I just really fell behind. It got to a point where I let the guilt affect my ST approach and so I just ghosted you all. In reviewing the entire IC thread and most of the OOC thread in the past few days, I've been reminded of how appreciative, supportive, and patient you all were, so I'm sorry for not being honest and just sharing how I was feeling.
This is really unorthodox, and I honestly know that it's a long shot. But if even 4 of you are still around and want to get this game up and running again, I would love to breathe some life back into it.
I'll be honest and up front about the fact that I don't think my life has necessarily gotten much quieter in the past 3 years.I have an 18-month-old daughter who keeps me on my toes. Work is busy, but on a whim I checked and saw that OP Forums is off the firewall list again, so I can access the forums more easily (although I will still need to use my phone browser to do dice rolls or find another online dice roller that works with CoD mechanics).
So: Who's with me? Anyone? Please let me know sometime in the next few days so we can talk shop and figure out the logistics. I'll dust off my ST notes and brainstorm some plot hooks to finish off this Chapter and start the next one, but I'd rather wait to do that until I know that this could actually happen.
Also, in case anyone asks or was curious: I have no intentions of resurrecting my other PBP game here, Mountains of Shadow. I might steal some ideas I had come up with for that campaign, but I just don't have the desire or motivation to run that. I want to put all of my time and creativity into one game, and this one specifically.Last edited by rwknoll; 09-04-2020, 06:33 AM.

I'm interested. To be honest, I have been checking in on this thread quite a few times over the years, wondering if something would happen.
Question though, would we pick up from where we were, or will we do some sort of soft reboot / reset? It's been a long time and I don't know if I'll be able to connect to Lynx as a character in media res. A lot has happened in my life as well.
Hope to hear from you all.

So good to hear from you!!
I’ve put a lot of work into creating the world, so I like the setting a lot and would prefer to still use it. I’m flexible with whatever makes it more fun for everyone else. It would probably depend on what everyone wants to do, assuming at least a few people are still interested.
If you have time, you can do what I did and reread the IC thread from start to finish. It might help you come up with ideas or find Lynx’s “voice” again. If you decide you would rather change parts of his character, either his actual character sheet or his backstory, we could edit or retcon whatever we need to in order for this to be fun. Or if you want to make a new character, we could introduce one.
