[OOC] [Exalted 2.5] The Scarlet Sky Conspiracy – An Epistolary Game
I figured it was totally bullshit, but Ryo, being the paranoid type, would check.
Also, I have this funny scene in my head of your character arguing with some poor fool and Ryo just happened to be in the wrong place in the wrong time. The poor fool dodged and you unintentionally socked Ryo in the face. Ryo tries to make light of his injury and runs off. You track him down to apologize and discover he really isn't hurt, being an Exalt and all. And thus begins your correspondence.
Either way, Ryo wouldn't tell on your lies.
See, the flipside of not having people with lie detection charms is that everyone figures it's bullshit right up until it turns out to be true. >:P
I should note that Aisa is perfectly serious about other members of the conspiracy needing to be able to defend against / be watching for dematerialized threats. If you don't say anything about it (that you can deal with spirits just fine) in your week one letters, there will be an elemental watching over your shoulder as soon as a Cloud Person or Huraka can fly to your side. You'll probably never know they're there unless there's trouble.
Except Whispering Twilight, because fellow sorcerer.
Quelaana would notice during a performance and vainly think it was a spirit thinking they don't need to pay for a ticket. I doubt Aisa would know Dreaming Pearl is a celestial style and therefore fail to presume I'd know Moment of Daana'd's/Pasiap's Humility. I'd then proceed to fine him 5 Koku unless he said he was with Aisa.

Yeah, whispering twilight cant personally check for dematerialized beings, but usually dont do anything serious without a demon or two in presence that can.
Love the fact that your bringing this up. Its a sneaky vector that is important to guard...
I posted Titus' letter, which I forgot about until just now. On Friday evening, I will post Ryo's next letter and reward XP to those who wrote introduction letters. After I post Ryo's letter, you can start sending me your plans for the Resplendent Air Letter.
If you can't figure it out from the letter, I am deviating from the Canon Timeline in one major way. OOC Knowledge Spoilers:
Chejop Kejak is dead.

Also, it Titus thinks Aisa's going to ignore the fact that he didn't mention his exalt type, unlike every other person who's sent her letter so far, he's sorely mistaken. And if he can't tell her about the old man... well... that just means it's time for some investigative work.
"Ooh, he's being mysterious. I'd better poke it with a stick."

Remember, until proven otherwise everyone is a sidereal, especially if you're playing a Sidereal. I'm fully expecting for npc Sidereals to assume I'm serenity until proven otherwise.
The Storyteller will post a Nellens Ryo letter to give an update on the Imperial Court. ST may PM a player a potential plot line.
The Players will private message the Storyteller or post in the OOC thread what they play to do in their location. Players suggested complications if they wish.
The Storyteller will respond with complications to the players’ plans and the difficulty rating for the complications. For now, we will use the difficulty table on Ex2 Core page 120
Standard
Difficult
Challenging
Near Impossible
+ Legendary
The Player will respond back with their solution to the complications. Each complication will require one skill roll. In addition, the player will roll any required charm rolls. Use this dice roller.
Storyteller approves player's dice rolls and solutions.
Situation: A requisition for 50 slaves from V'neef's supply officer comes across Ryo's desk. Ryo notices the requisition does not include upkeep for the slaves. And he is curious as to what V'neef wants the slaves for. He flags the requisition and sends it back to V'neef's supply office. Ryo expect the man to set up a meeting, giving Ryo a chance to pick his brain.
Complication: V'neef's supply officer doesn't show up. V'neef herself does.
Solution: Ryo is in damage control mode. He hasn't survived the past year in the Imperial City taking stupid risks. And this risk just got stupid. He plans on enduring whatever bullshit V'neef throws at him, signing the paper, and slow down the slave delivery. This will give him time to find another solution for the problem.
Ryo fails his roll and loses his temper with the Dragonblooded. He doesn't botch (thanks to willpower), so he doesn't arouse V'neef's suspicions.
Charm Dice Roll: Indolent Official Charm - Difficulty 4. (I couldn't find a Character sheet for V'neef, so I just took the Intelligence and Bureaucracy from the Roseblack for now.)
Charm Dice Roll Result:12 Successes (Ryo uses 14 motes of personal essence for this charm/excellency)
After his failure in his office, Ryo doesn't fuck around. He uses the 2nd Excellency to boost his roll. (I hope I did this right. I could not remember if non-excellency charm success limits the successes added to the 2nd Excellency)
Ryo managed to slow V'neef down, but the slaves are still an problem to be solved. (I probably could have gone on longer, but my letter was already two pages long. We will save you next month, poor slaves!)

My old ST gave extra xp for the first game. I will continue that trend for the first letter. I'll reward extra xp when we complete the first group of letters.
Remember, we are using the Solar XP table on page 274 for all characters.

I posted Ryo's letter. His letters are still awkward to write. Hero has much more informal tone and are written in second person instead of first.
When I first started, I had trouble writing the first letter. Then I realized I needed you guys to write letters about your characters and their goals. After that, my half page letter grew to two pages. I didn't even mention Aisa's offer of immaterial protection, Ryo's wife, or the cat!
I included some possible story lines to build off at the end of the letters. If you have better ideas, you can ignore them.
