Well, CCP's sole expertise is making MMOs or rather EVE online. It's pretty obvious why they didn't consider other computer game options. Also, as I understand it, Paradox acquired White Wolf completely, i.e. together with the unfinished software for the WoD MMO. If they are releasing another Vampire game, I am definitely buying.

That could be good. I need to see what else Obsidian has been doing since Fallout: New Vegas. I loved KotOR 2.

        • Just FYI guys, DaveB said they wouldn't know more until Richt talks to the new bosses. Until then though, nothing has changed. Long term might be different however.

          • Honestly, they're unlikely to cut gamelines.

Take a look at RPGs for a second. Namely, how much they cost to make in comparison to, say, a video game.

They'll likely keep them running so they have the option to do something with them in the future.

I'm comparing this to when Hasbro bought WotC to get at that sweet, sweet M:tG money. Too bad that resulted in them cutting the D&D brand...

            Oh wait...

I have decided, after some thought, that I don't really feel happy on these forums. I might decide to come back to post. Who knows - but right now, I'm gone.

So good bye, good luck, and have a nice day.

According to their website, KotOR2 has been updated just last Wednesday.

Also, their current "big thing" was Pillars of Eternity, a more "traditional" isometric cRPG. Think Bauldurs Gate, but modern.

Also, Amechra, the problem with WoD's case is that there's two competing WoD brands. And one is due to being earlier and out for longer, more well known than the previous modern one. I suppose though this might be a situation similar to Shadowrun though.

If you're primarily interested in video games, sure.

If you want Onyx Path to keep producing WoD and Exalted tabletop material as they currently have creatively planned, it's uncertain and terrifying.

                      • This makes me really sad because it seems like Paradox only got White Wolf for WOD. Exalted is just starting to get a new, glorious re-birth and I have the sinking feeling that it will soon be cut. It is not a famous or well known product! Even if they do keep it they might get rid of the team that is currently working on it! Which would be horrible because the team is really passionate about Exalted and I like so far where they are taking the line.

My only hope is that they just keep things on the paper RPG side in onxy paths capable hands.

                        • Regarding WoD (old or new) RPGs, I think the best route would be a "tool-box up" similar to Neverwinter Nights. Make a good single-/multi-player campaign, but the design focus being on allowing user content and easy modding. Given a flexible enough core engine, it could be developed in a number of different ways (and user-created-content-friendly keeps enthusiasts interested).

                              • This is FANTASTIC news.

I would do anything for another VtM videogame. Or, hell, any videogame in the WoD.

As for Onyx Path, I've been pretty happy with what they've been doing. The one thing I'd like to see come from this, is adherence to a much tighter schedule. Here's hoping...
