Well, now we all know why it took 2.5 years.

I'm guessing it's got all of the major splats in a single book?

So has Ex3 moved closer to, say. nWoD, in terms of base mechanics and structure? Has it been simplified at all? Because I know I tried at one point to get into Exalted, looked at the system, and said 'nope, maybe later'. Just wondering if this might be the time to try jumping aboard again.

Most of what was kept was the very fundamentals... it's still a dice pool, it still uses d10's, it still defaults to counting successes the same way, and the general attributes and abilities still mostly have the same names.

Pretty much everything else was changed.

Scion 1e has a lot more in common mechanically with Ex2 than Ex2 does with Ex3.

It's a pretty big paradigm shift. Combat resolution is completely different, social combat got replaced with a much more sensible social influence system, the map has had a lot of new bits added to it, mass combats work within the normal combat engine without fucking things in the ear...it's a pretty massive overhaul of the game.

I feel this comic is relevant since certain people have blown gaskets without having all the facts over on the paradox forums...
Either way - I really hope that Onyx path keeps the publishing rights to the various White Wolf properties.

Hope you guys - have a laugh

Not to mention that I was very pleasantly surprised to see my Deluxe CB20 arrive when it did; I thought it would take alot longer since my only previous experience with Kickstarter was the Ex3 KS. Now I know better than to use Ex3 KS as a basis of comparison for other Kickstarters.

Not that I mind Ex3 taking so long if that's whats required to get a truly exceptional quality book, of course. I have no complaints with what Holden and the rest of the crew have done so far. And I know they've been busting their asses to make Ex3 as good as it can be so I'm not gonna rag on them.

Vaguely worded complaints about how the Exalted developers talk to the fans, also.

Various degrees of excessive anger over the delays in Exalted and/or the Kickstarter.

I'm not saying they definitively don't exist, but it just seems like a humongous waste of protein to so despise NWoD to want it seen burned to the ground. Hell, back in 2004, when CWoD ended and was replaced by NWoD, I didn't want to see the NWoD utterly destroyed, I was just like "meh, if people wanna play it, more power to them, but it ain't my bag."

I mean, jeez, what am I gonna do? Join the White Wolf Gestapo, fuel up my flamethrower and start doing home invasions of people playing NWoD games like something out of Fahrenheit 451? That's totally ridiculous! C'mon, we're talking about fantasy horror! Classic dystopian sci-fi is three genres down and two across from here! I'm too lazy to lug a flamethrower that far!

I guess it's just the usual edition war hating going on. I mean, let's be honest, how much nerd rage does the transition of D&D editions generate? I know 4e generated quite alot. (I think 4e is fine; would have been better received if it wasn't supposed to be a D&D edition) Yeah, there's probably people who were kind of bitter about cWoD's cancelation... even after all this long.

Also, funny you should mention dystopian scifi as my one of my goals is to throw as much scifi into nWoD as I could...

To be fair it's a minority. Sorry if it seems like I'm making a mountain out of a molehill, just wanted to express a little frustration.

Okay I've only seen a few of those, but they're really not helping.

Also, why? I mean, there's reasons to hate other editions, but come on, Onyx Path does print out classic material for the crowd who wants it. Material that otherwise wouldn't exist.
