  • Paradox Interactive (the Crusader Kings people, not the Conan/Mutant Chronicles ones) buy the White Wolf properties [Merged x10]

    Just what I said.

Paradox Interactive, publishers of the excellent Pillars of Eternity, have acquired the White Wolf properties from CCP. That includes Exalted, right?

It seems that White Wolf's Intellectual Properties was bought once again by the video game publisher - this time Paradox Interactive. Will this new legal status change something in the now process of WoD ( and other ) games of Onyx Path development?

Moderators: I tried to write the topic in subforum general about Onyx Path, but could not get there. If it is possible, maybe move topic there.

I hear rumours Paradox Interactive is buying White Wolf from CCP. Does this mean anything for Onyx Path? Or will it likely mean the same deal as before as far as the RPG lines are concerned?

On a whim, I went to white-wolf.com just to see if there was something there or perhaps to look at what might be archived, and there was some new information there.
From what I have gathered a Swedish entertainment company by the name of Paradox has purchased the White wolf IP which includes World of Darkness.
Now my understanding is that CCP still owned the World of Darkness lines and Onyx Path owned Trinity and Scion and jointly owned Scarred lands with another company, but I don't remember where Exalted stands in all this. Can someone with a bit of expertise interpret what is happening here?

How can I know if what I claim I know to be true is rejecting the idea that there is something I might not know? How can I know if what I claim I don't know to be true is rejecting the idea that there is something I do know?

It would be nice for a video games version of the nWoD, starting with the Core (Blue Book), and various gameline centric expansions tacked onto it afterwards.

That entirely depends on Paradox and the letter of the contract Onyx path signed with White Wolf. I'm curious abut a formal comment on this, though.

Paradox's economy has been booming in the last year or two. I read a swedish article about the subject. I'll link it here for those who enjoy google translate/know the language.

Would be a interesting expansion of Cities:Skyline. Trying to manage all the weird crap.

From what I gather, this is breaking news; nothing much is known as of yet. I'll point out that Exalted is part of the White Wolf IP (and so is almost certainly part of what Paradox has just acquired), as are the classic and new Worlds of Darkness; but Scion and Trinity are wholly owned by Onyx Path.

Probably, but not definitely. We should watch the blog, just in case.

Yeah and there is more here. This means that they now have all licenses except Aeon and Scion which belong to Onyx Path. Nothing was mentioned about Exalted and I'm curious if they will be keeping Onyx Path doing their work. What worries me is the "publishing" part of the name. It might mean they are taking over books, and that might not bode as well for OP.

I would really like to hear something official about this from RichT and company as soon as possible. Mostly to ease my own nerves about the future of Exalted more than the WoD, but some info from Onyx Path directly would be nice.

It's most likely just going to be world of darkness. Not like it's bad thing but well, I wouldn't hold my breath for Exalted, considering the kind of game that Paradox make.
