How old is Creation?

Personally, the reason I would picture the history of the world for extending a vast period of time before the existence or pre-eminence of human beings is because I like it as an emphasis on how cosmically insignificant humans are, or at least were before they were given dominion over the Earth.

About... ten thousand years

All these millions of years things seem off to me because I don't know how you'd portray beings that have been around that long. It boggles the mind. But ten thousand years seems legit to me. I can take inspiration from a variety of sources to portray beings that old. It's also old enough to sort of make the eras work for me... essentially my thought is what feels right and ten thousand years does.

By that logic, how would you portray something that's been around for thousands of years, either? Anything beyond a century is going to tend to tax the human imagination.

A couple of hours ago, I was suddenly struck with the realisation that to disparage, implicitly or otherwise, somebody else's sensibilities regarding, well, anything, but especially something as minor and adjustable as this, was highly improper, and I apologise for it.

Just feels daft to me personally.

Perhaps only spirits of the most primordial jobs are that old, spirits that are simple (if potent) that handle the most fundamental jobs like Volcanoes, Earthquakes, and Storms. And newer spirits created after Creation was Mortal Friendly are thousands of years old instead and were more humanoid. So nowadays we have Storm Mothers, but perhaps primordial Storms were were something Akin to Maelstrom Leviathans and such.

I mean the Primordials are flat out comparable to Millions of years even if Time isn't that old. Classic World of Darkness Werewolf had spirits that age, particularly Elemental spirits, and even had insane archaic spirits, such as Motherbog. Which brings to mind Maybe some Behemoths are from that Age when Creation only had Primordial Gods and Behemoths rather then mortal species.

Time Not was pre-Creation. There was no Blessed Isle. You're thinking of the Time Before.

Oh I'm just taking measure of the different sensibilities everyone has.

Like do you think dinosaurs and Megafauna are from an older age or not particularly older.

Technically creation is somewhat younger than time because the creation of Yu-shan disrupted Timenot, not the forming of creation.

The Loom of Fate Resided first upon the blessed Isle and it was what disrupted Time Not.


I like to think The Dragon Kings Existed for a while before Humanity.

In my mind, the first proto time and proto solid forms were created by the Primordials over a billion years ago. Still, it took a long time between then and their first attempt to shape an entire world, and there were several attempts before the current Creation. Some of the gods predate the current Creation, and both Sol and Luna are among those. The current Creation is a few million years old.

If I recall correctly, the only part of that being canon, in any edition, is the "several attempts" part.
