In the introductory thread I reintroduced myself. I am the guy who pulls people over for a living. Unlike on TV, I do not wear an 800 dollar suit.

I have a generic tablet that I use to view my books. I also tend to purchase books in PDF as it is a more attractive price point.

Anyone chop up the Backer PDF into chunks so my tablet doesn't choke on it?

I imagine drive thru has the book for sale and download in chapters, but I backed 180 bucks all those years ago, and my wife might have to kill me if I bought it again.

While I'm not aware of anyone who's done it, it's a fantastic idea. I've always wanted to have the book on a tablet.

I post Artifacts in this thread. How I make them is in this thread.
I have made many tools and other things for 3rd Edition. I now host all of my creations on my Google site: The Vault of the Unsung Hero

I know. I feel bad asking about it, but being able to put it on my tablet just would make it easier all around. I can get about 360 pages in, and then my reader dies.

Drive thru is a good company, and I do not mind giving them money normally, but maybe I feel too entitled on this one product. I would hate to tear up my beautiful deluxe edition in my bag.

Hm. I've done it myself, but I also can't share the broken up copy with you for copyright reasons. If you have a computer that can open the full thing, then splitting isn't too difficult - here are some instructions for doing it using Chrome, for example. You could also do it using a trial copy of the Foxit PDF editor.

Do either of those solutions help?

I am stuck on a mobile for now. I imagine they will help, and I appreciate it.

I will let you know after I take a whack at it later.

          Thank you!

Erm, using ebookdroid I've never had an issue with the full PDF on a tablet. Even my older tablet awhile back.

If you have a copy of the .pdf already, I can take a copy of it and break it into sections for you. It's pretty easy, I won't supply a copy for you though.

The splitting it with Chrome does not quite work. It only allows 3 pages to convert over.

                  Load the pdf in Chrome.
Press Ctrl+P to open the print menu
Change destination from your printer to Save as PDF
Enter the page range you wish to have in your PDF
                  Click Save

That will make the pdf the size your want. I literally just tested it on the Exalted pdf before posting, so it should work.

Be that as it may, It will not work for me. It 'prepares document for printing' then will only allow up to 22 pages at a time.

Maybe I have a newer version of application or something.

So, nope. It does not work.

Totally does. I just tried it, right now. Chrome is up to date. I saved the entire Charms chapter as its own document.

That is cool for you, but it isn't for me.

I just sat through 15 minutes of preparing item for printing, and it let me handle 22 pages. That is all. I am not saying it did not work for you, or does not work period. Maybe it is my printer driver. I do not know what it is, but it limits mine at 22 pages, and no more.

Chrome is up to date, ditto the Chrome PDF reader. Must be the HP Printer driver or something, as 22 and kaput. Three times in a row now. So, there is something in my set up prohibiting it, and I am not an IT guy. I drive fast and play with guns for a living.

You using an iPad? Google tells me Mac product have a lot of problems with this.

Alternatively, I guess your tablet might have a very tiny memory, in which case 22 pages might be your tablet's limit and the ideal size to break your pdf up into.

I'm not sure if you saw my response to your last message but If you put your .pdf into a google drive share it with my maudova at Gee m ail dot com I will split the .pdf into whatever sizes you want and send them back to you. It will take less than a minute for me to complete this. I have full versions of the adobe suite new and old edition so Its a single click transaction for me.
