    A SFW thread where I read Arms of the Chosen to find: The perfect sword boyfriend!





    Hello hello hello, this is the thread where I'll read Third Edition's shiny Artifact book so questions like is Gorgon the best sword husbando, should I marry All-Conquering Colossus, is it right and proper to love Unison will finally be answered. Plus writing more will improve my ridiculously bad English from what I heard.

    And I have always want to use a Jen rating to.....well....rate how I excited I am toward the thing that I am reading:

    - It's NEGA-JEN: Which is worse than zero Jen since it's in the negative. This thing is probably so antithetical for me that I'm recoiling from pure horror, like the word sexy and Ketchup Carjack being anywhere near each other.

    - This place.......It has no Jen at all: It's zero Jen, so bland that I don't know what to write for this.

    - Not bad, should I kiss him or punch him??: Pretty good, but there is still something not quite right to make me go.....

    - I DUB THEE PREMIUM BEEFCAKE: My maiden's heart has been touched by the Artifact in question, ca...can you be my boyfriend?

    - De...Demetheus: This reaction is reserved only for thing that can make me feel the same way I feel toward Demetheus i.e Pure Love

    Of all the people reading or reviewing new Exalted books, I think that I'm most excited to see your take, Jen. Especially if that take comes with more art. XD

            So first will be the book's cover:




            Which is...pretty disappointing. I love the perspective of the image and the meaning of the player finding a treasure trove of Artifact in this book like this lady founds her in the building. But the Artifacts depicted here are kinda sub-par in term of design.

            I know I know, Jen's ragging on about the art again, what's next? Creating threads with click baiting title??!!

            But seriously though, these weapons just looks so.......+1 sword to me, not really something that I would want my character to use. But on the other hand, demanding the artist to create 30+ weapons with distinctive designs is pretty nonsensical.....

            Though I kindaaaa wonder if instead of normal size weapons in the picture, it's REAL Daiklaive instead, and by that I mean fuck huge Grand Goremaul and Grimscythe. Big weapons means less will be on the display since they will take up more space in the image, but the artist can now focus on making each one having a unique looks. No bias here, but I wouldn't mind Gorgon taking up an entire row of display for itself.

            Sadly, I'll have to give the cover No Jen

              Ah, finally, the thread we've all been waiting for. I hope my own liveblog won't influence you too unduly, but at last count my possibly romanceable list came to... around six or seven I think? The soulsteel ones are particularly fruitful, though there are also my own tendencies to consider there.

                I always likes the idea that the All-Conquering Colossus shows a bit of personality by encouraging its owner to follow their dreams of romance, without speaking.

                Like if you take the field in your Orichalcum Death Walker, and you notice the object of your affections watching from the crowd, the ACC will pause, turn, point at the person in question, and flex... And during the fight will feel just SLIGHTLY lighter and more agile when you control it.

                No mechanical benefit, but enough to help the rider stunt a bit more while showing off.

                    Gonna go out on a limb and say that that's about as controversial an opinion as "Lunars have been mechanically underwhelming" or "I like to ignore the first three chapters of 2e Infernals"

                      It's the credit page! I think I realized some of the name.

                      Only one studio is doing the artworks huh, at least the quality will be consistent instead of cake Lunar in one place and then DEATH RAY in another.

                      Eh, what does Dauntless Bureau of the Flame Duck mean exactly? I can't quite see the connection between playtesting and flameducking?

                      Sooooo is person in the Ronin section playtest the Kukla or is the Kukla just his nickname I wonder.

                        They are referencing Vance's game "Doom and Gloam". Where he tried a few artifacts out on them. Also, yeah, that Kukla, who also pops up as color commentary in the chat logs for that game. I think he also posted here the other day...

                        edit: If you haven't read it yet, you should. Rand's character is just as boy crazy as you, AND it's somewhat central to the plot. They even use romance novels as a plot device MULTIPLE TIMES.

                          Just glancing through the appendix it seems like I'm more of a giant gauntlets and holy orichalcum person instead of soulsteel sword. Oooh how I wish for a soulsteel black leather armor so I don't seem like such a Solar fanboy...

                          Interesting how I have a totally different view on Colossus. But I'll get to that later when I get to the Warstrider chapter, I have to conserve my energy for now...

                            I still can't decide which is my favorite in Arms: the red jade warstrider that is depicted in a dull greyish-brown color, or the illustration for Five Edicts Dominion, which... has to be seen to be believed.

                            (And I say this as someone who generally likes the art shift from earlier editions!)

                              IIRC Rand's character is into dudely dudes, no waifs may apply.

                              Also, an artifact based on his character made it into Arms. Sun's Brush.
