  • Anima Levels - Exated 3ed

    Hello Exalted Fans!

Last night I draw Anima Levels for a Solar Character. I believe that's how is depicted in the book.

What are your thoughts? Are they as you see in your game?

I don't know how to post images here... if you want to see it in FullSize just click the link below =)

Technically bonfire comes before Iconic. When you hit bonfire the iconic anima shapes from it as you channel essence then dissipates back into the bonfire.

That said, this is really cool! Awesome visual reference! I personally don't picture bonfire as a colum like that, but everything else is exactly how I picture it.

      I like it a lot !

Although I must say I'm not sure how it works for the the bonfire anima. To me it goes to the sky only when you reach bonfire, and then it stays at a strong level but is not a litteral pillar of sunlight for 15 straight minutes. Since my english is not perfect for understanding this part, could someone explain to me anima level 3 in totality (So Iconic + bonfire) ?

        Yeah, that'll cover it.

They're not precisely as I would visualise them, but I'd say they're rather close. I like the look of them, they're kind of understated enough to be believable while having touches of style that effectively distinguish them from one another and make them pop. It's a nice look.

        Nnnno it dunt.

The Solar’s anima ignites in a grand display of iconic splendor, depicting personal iconography chosen by the player—one Solar warrior’s anima may depict a tiger whose roar shakes the heavens, while a savant may be surrounded by a storm of whirling parchment covered in the lore of bygone ages. This phantasmal display then collapses into a raging bonfire of spiritual power stretching high into the air, visible for miles.

I always figured the bonfire anima looked like, well, a bonfire.

Bonfire is descriptive of its luminescence.

I like the way their clothes are rising up to the sky dynamically.

18 years of edition creep, 14+ of which said otherwise.

"11-15 The character is engulfed in a brilliant bonfi re of Essence that burns from her feet to at least a foot above her head. Objects that come in contact with the aura may be left bleached or faded, as if they had been exposed to the sun for many days. The character is visible for miles. The light produced is bright and steady enough to read by, out to a spearcast’s distance.
16+ The character is surmounted or surrounded by a burning image totemic to her person. A warrior might be surrounded by a great golden bull, a Twilight Caste magician by an incredibly elaborate mandala, and so on. This effect fades during any action the character does not spend Essence, but it leaps back into existence from the solar bonfi re of the character’s anima if the character again burns Peripheral Essence."

The "This phantasmal display then collapses into a raging bonfire of spiritual power," and the "and the iconic display may also reappear at dramatic moments," gave me the impression it worked pretty much the same.

Oy yeah, this image gets me pumped up! Gotta bug my ST for the next game...

I think it's good to make a distinction between Iconic and Bonfire. I admit that a lot of times I forget to use my Twilight's Iconic in my stunts.

I know what the previous Editions said.

I can also see how that picture has "3Ed" pasted right at the top.

Guys, thank you so much for the critics!
I really like to make this kinda of infographic/educational material for exalted and that's why a need a consensus about the understanding of the book rules.

A few friends (my exalted circle and the ST) and you guys gave me insights of what could get better in the art.
And Yeah Bonfire is like a Bonfire.... I don't know why I was thinking about a pilar of light when drawing that.

Nice man, excited on what you do for Lunars.

Though I wonder what you would do for DBs, since they are after all more elemental like, thus all Aspects would be more different then just different lights. But thats just my musings anyway

                          .

Yeah, you might need to divide dragon blooded by aspect.

Oh, also there's the hybrid animas aura causes. So you have "water aspect in fire aura" (maybe the water is boiling) and "air aspect in wood aura" (swirling cherry blossom petals, maybe?) and all that stuff.
