First browse, the cover looks a bit lacklustre, as all the sample characters look much better in their respective splat pages, maybe it's just a WIP? Mel's new stuff is mostly in the charm section, and the book seems to work pretty well with condesning the splats into readable blocks. Sadly had only 10 mins before getting back to the grind, but looking forward to digging into the final versions of the splats and charms.

Is it just me, or is the example Infernal an Azimuth pirate?

I'm not complaining, 3E GSPs are Horror Shonen: The Splat, but I am thinking that, sans all other context, that man (I think) is a One Piece character drawn un-stylized.

Good to know that Uran's still doing Exalted art, at least. The Exigent and Sidereal Kickstarters using a different (and frankly, less interesting) style for the signature characters seemed like a bad omen.

It's a pdf preview that was recently distributed to backers of the Essence kickstarter. The reason so many people know about Essence is because during the campaign, the manuscript draft was released to backers, and that content itself was discussed across various forums and trickled down to non-backers.

Leading up to the Kickstarter there were previews mostly in podcasts and the Discord. I compiled a lot of that in a Google doc.

People who Kickstarted Essence got a PDF of the at-time manuscript over the course of the Kickstarter. This is what people were working off of utnil a couple weeks ago, when backers got a pre-indexing and final eidting PDF with art, layout, and more or less final version.

I don't have the documen tup anymore since it's largely out of date/irrelevant. It mostly exists for archival purpsoes and wouldn't really do a lot to help clarify things.

For most folks it has been basically they read the PDF, which one can purchase from Backerkit now for $25 USD. Or asking specific questions and seeing what can be answered since we're not really for just copying a whole book about.

That's the only way to have all the info. There are threads talking about the game in detail, but it's all sort of meaningless unless you can refer to the actual text.
