    Let's get a thread going about the mechanics. I know we won't have any actual play experience for a while, but perhaps we can clear up or get official rulings on anything confusing in the mean time.

    I've only spotted one thing so far: What's a "magical action"? Supplemental charms can only be used on non-magical actions, but the only other place that phrase is mentioned is in the combat section, telling me to refer to chapter 6 (the charms section). Do all charms count as magical actions? If so, does that mean you can't use excellencies to enhance other charms?

      Yeah, just control+f searched it and it doesn't seem to explain it. Maybe it is extra actions granted by charms?

        I'd probably rule that the target repeats aloud the contents of the missive, but isn't aware that they did it, and don't remember any of it. Not quite the full effect of either, but seems like a reasonable compromise. There, I told you.

          Whatever the ST decides happens. You might drive someone mad...you might contradict yourself and have it not work...you might give them a really bad case of gas. Who knows!? (And this is why DMing and STing is such fun)

            well you see, you can't make a word in any language right? but your compelled to like, speak out loud or whatever, right?

            So, I'm thinking, it makes you repeat it, but it doesn't come out as anything that makes sense and the babble tears a hole in the Loom to allow a demon of Elloge to jump into Creation.

                  Perilous Charms cannot be used when crashed. Do Perilous Charms also end when crashed? As in, will, say, Flow Like Blood suddenly stop working?

                    That makes sense to me.

                    And can I just give a big shout-out to whichever genius came up with the concept of SUPERNAL abilities? You mean I can pick one ability and get to all the GOOD stuff without raising my Essence? Why yes please!

                      Yeah, Supernal abilities man....they are what is making Solars work for me now. they make the Solars make sense, because before in 2e, how you made one just never seemed right compared to what they're supposed to be, and their progression is clearly more horizontal than vertical now.

                        I am actually really wary the idea of Supernal Abilities. My biggest fear is that they'll encourage cookie cutter builds, with some abilities proving themselves over time to be far better than others.

                          Supernal Abilities is a game-changer, all right.

                          I'm reading the combat system now. This will take some time to internalize, but I am pleased beyond expression with how clear the vision of what it's supposed to do is.

                            I am like 90% woohoo, 10% concerned over the combat system, and what I'm concerned about is the bookeeping side of things. God help me if I get a player who decides they want to play a Dodge or Athletics monkey and constantly dick with range bands.

                            It's incredibly clearly conceived, tho.

                              I have a hesitant (because at this early date, with only my own thoughts on the matter as opposed to the thoughts of others and actual play experience to contribute to them) worry that the Supernal pick privileges any ability that has Charms which fuck people up and also Charms that stop you from getting fucked up built in. A Supernal Melee character can buy all the attack and defense charms they can afford in that ability; a Supernal Archer or Supernal Thrown character is a glass cannon until they raise their Essence slowly so they can buy the better Dodge (or whatever) Charms. A Supernal Dodge or Supernal Integrity character has the other problem, where they're hard to kill but can't hit hard. Supernal Melee, Brawl, and MA characters can do both.

                              And then you have people who pick a non-combat ability as their Supernal, which... hmm.

                              I was going to say "which leaves them as meat to anyone who didn't do that" but that only applies to other Solars, so far. Other Exalt types may not get the Supernal pick. In fact, I'd be amazed if anyone else but the Abyssals and Infernals did.
