I was complaining about Panther and/or racism one day and when some guy posted a nearly-incomprehensible screed on colorblindness, Kukla responded "what the christ are you talking about" with no punctuation or capitals. I liked how it sounded, so I made it Panther's signature quote, adding some exclamation marks at Cromage's suggestion.

Though I have never been certain why he is so disliked, having only 2 books that depict him. Is it that he's the Angry Black Man trope? He does seem like that.

The setting's only prominent Black male is the son of a single mother who is a prostitute. He becomes a prizefighter and starts pointless beef onstage so he can get rich. He spends all his money on hookers and blow. He Exalts during a hangover and becomes a holy-roller who runs around Creation with his shirt off showing off his tattoos, alternately yelling at his problems and punching them in the face. At one point he mugs a Lunar Exalt for his bling. And he's an angry Black man. Named Panther.

"With his shirt off" implies he, in fact, owns a shirt. I'm not so sure of that.

...okay, when you put it that way I feel kind of ashamed for thinking he was a cool character.

Wasn't the leader of the Sidereal "independent" faction also a black man? Or am I misremembering?
