A dragonblooded gets 12 Background points. Usually, you have to spend bonus points to buy the fourth background dot. In this game, Dragonblooded can buy the fourth dot with background points instead of bonus points. If you wish to spend bonus points, it still costs 2 bp.

There's no disadvantage it just wasn't clocking in my head to be able to raise to 4 naturally but still have to spend 2bp for it, not something that goes together in my head or that I have done before, so its just a new way to me

I will try and put something together tonight.

It's something new I am trying to encourage people to play Dragonblooded and to also signify the easy Dragonblooded have in building backgrounds and the like.

Also, I can't tell you how many times I wish I could buy that fourth point with background points.

Here is a rough idea of what the Conspiracy's Oath will cover. Anyone want to add/remove anything?

        The Oath
Put Dragonblooded on the Scarlet Throne
Don’t call wyld hunt on any member
No one shall betray the other members of the conspiracy to those outside the conspiracy.
For one day all shall walk free despite their anima.
I swear by the Incarnae and the Immaculate dragons.

(I'll pretty it up when we get the details nailed down)

So i have an idea and i'm hesitant to post, mostly cause games never last with her for reasons...

I have a young monk girl on a realm pilgrimage. She can be any aspect, just change the noun in her name to whatever aspect she is, but she was built as Earth first. Not quite a graduate from the cloister, but yeah. Monk in training. Could possibly see a crisis of faith thing going on if she finds out one of her allies is an anathema and result in an interesting change in outlooks, while still trying to be overall a good person.

I should note that all member of the conspiracy have been recruited into the conspiracy by an Anathema and it was obvious the NPC was Anathema as your character agreed to the Eclipse Oath. Though the Eclipse that recruited everyone is a (somewhat) devout Immaculate layperson himself, so I don't know if that would make it easier on your character or not.

I'm okay with conflicted Immaculates, just don't have your character report everyone into the Wyld Hunt.

                Sounds Good.

Realized I needed to stat out my PC`s ally, so figuring that out before settling on the dots in the ally background. Looks like he will be an officer instead of a general, but who in turn has the general as an ally.

In other words more scheming to be had in the legions so this conspiracy can gain a mailed fist.

How does this work as a character concept?

Also, would you consider custom charms? DB craft charms are awful.

                  Name: Ledaal Catala Akashan
                  Character Concept: Transhuman-Terrestrial Artificer
                  Location: Imperial City
                  Splat: Dragonblooded
                  Aspect: Air
House/Faction/other organizational membership: Heptagram, Catala branch family
Motivation: Use artifice to break the limits of the Terrestrial condition and gain the capability to solve the problems of the Realm
Backstory: Had Akashan been born to anyone but terrestrials of the finest breeding it is likely he would have been exposed to the elements and left to die. He was small, sickly, and early; barely able to take his first breath. Yet his aspect markings were as plain as his deficiency. Confronted with the possibility of an exaltation his family decided to take the risk. House Ledaal traded many favors and payed dearly for the sorcerous and celestial aid necessary to ensure his survival yet they also learned a great deal about medicine and recovered or reinvented many shogunate techniques in the process. He grew up to be healthy enough, if not the fittest. When he exalted, also early, it seemed the dragons had vindicated the choice to save him.

Akashan knows that the Terrestrial host, as a body, is the most powerful force for stability and security in Creation. Yet his associations with the Sidereals and reports of the singular power of the Anathema has convinced him that the Blood of the Dragons must be supplemented if the Realm is to weather the challenges of the coming turn of the age. His particular interest is in artifice, especially prosthetics capable of enhancing the already formidable power of the Exalted.

                  Backgrounds: Artifact, Manse,
Inportant NPCs: Ledaal sorcerers and artificers (the best, and most expensive in the Realm), Catala archaeologists and Threshold researchers (renown for recovering lost lore and wonders), Ledaal Kes (one of the greatest spymasters, artificers, and gateway players in the Realm)
                  Strongest Attribute: Intelligence
                  Weakest Attribute: Stamina
Strongest Skills: Craft, Occult, Lore, Bureaucracy
Other Details: Makes extensive use of biomagitech

I would be willing to consider custom DB craft charms later on in game, but not at character creation.

What do you plan on your character doing in the Imperial City? I was hoping to not have character overlap (My NPC Talking Head at the Imperial Court), but I do not think you and Ryo will cross paths that often. Also, Ryo is not really suited to breaking into the Imperial Manse, which may be a goal for some character.

The Catala family has most of its operations in the East, and is headquartered near Greyforks. So being in the Imperial City both puts him at the entry point for all their shipments to the realm, gives him access to thousands of years of magical construction that the Realm has built, and puts him in walking distance of the people who can write up the loans needed to fund his projects.

He has no real interest in the court itself. The Imperial Manse is another matter though...

I must admit, it was really tempting to just play a Twilight instead. DB have no speed enhancers and Solars start at 6 times faster, turning the interval from 3 months to 2 weeks.

Edit: Can I assume the restriction on custom charms also extends to custom artifacts?

Most of the players seem to playing Dragon Blooded. which is surprising to me. Last time I was in a play by Post game everyone want to play the special case exception characters. I thought I'd have everyone wanting to play Solar.

If you do play Solar, remember your character doesn't have any First Age memories. Just memories of being being hunted by the Wyld Hunt for centuries.

I'm honestly pleased that most of the PCs are DBs - it stays true to the setting truth that the Realm is a Dragon Blooded empire that has ruled Creation for most of a millenia, without too much of the "celestials secretly control everything" vibe this forum sometimes seems rather fond of.

For the oath, I'd prefer something like "none shall betray other members of the conspiracy as long as they act in good faith with this oath", rather than the line about the wyld hunt - would make Aisa a bit less nervous about "But what if this one guy's a really bad apple?" That's more an IC concern than an OOC one. Rest of it looks good

Well, I mean, a Dragon-blooded with Dreaming Pearl Courtesan is special case in a healthy way. My social charms being innately obvious strangely fits the Cheraki politic M.O.
I'd like Celestials to not secretly Control nearly as much as they think. Kind of like how Regent Fokuf is infamous for shaking off Sidereal Influence. It'll be interesting to see how the bull of the North
                            Interacts with the Conspiracy.

                              How interesting!

I'd be more in favor of a PC claimant to the throne. I like the Roseblack and all, but nothing says "uphill battle" quite like Aisa being the head of our conspiracy. >:P

                              I could either go with
-Cathak Karistaja, a naive and honorable-to-a-fault fire aspect that's in way over her head (but could serve as a general in a pinch),
-Ragara Besi, another fire-aspect, this one an incredibly terse heretical martial artist trained by a sidereal (and possibly an Adorjan's daughter), or
-Carmela Contarini, a ridiculously enthusiastic mercenary from a Threshold house (pales in comparison to a Great House, but impressive for the Threshold) who sees the Realm's troubles as her ticket to the big time. The notion is that with an impending civil war, the Houses are eager to take in whatever skilled agents they can get, even a mercenary. She might become a true believer in the Way of Aisa/Roseblack early on, though. You might have guessed it: a fire aspect.

An PC claimant would be a lot more challenging that is for sure. Also probably more fun. As we would need to twist a lot more arms to get that done
