I think you'll be happy with how things play out.

WFHW and The Realm do present more satrapies that are not rebellious or on the verge of rebellion than the previous editions, but keeping with Ex3s approach, they're often like a paragraph each. I do think it's a more nuanced presentation, but it's been done with a show don't tell approach. The Immaculate Order chapter in the Realm actually has the most nuance, casting the Order as one aspect of the Realm that really does push to make things better for the common people.

Appropriately enough, one of the two versions of the character you guys inspired (the one where he's discovered by the Realm early on and sent to the Blessed Isle) is an Immaculate monk with a favorable view of the Order. At least they attempt to restrain the excesses of the Dynasts and lead the charge against the Anathema - whom he has no love for either.

So, I have been listening to this quite regularly now, on the commute, but also on several longer walks during the holidays. Love it! I think you and your group have a very nice chemistry going. And I really enjoy listening to you present your version of Exalted to me. A big thank you to your crew and, of course, to you, the ST.

If I'm being perfectly honest here, I'd kill to play with a group like this. This kind of play that is focused on the narrative and where all players totally immerse themselves in the characters is how I want to play. I know that you edit the podcast, but I still think you have a pretty focused game overall. I'm pretty sure you'd be OK if you just posted the game-session without too much cutting and editing.
Anyway...just wanted to say thanks. And if you ever need a guest-player or something like that, I'd volunteer immediately (although time-zone differences might make this impossible, even if you were interested ).

Just finished the Temple of Maykoy episode and I have to say that your group is much more deferential to the god than my group has traditionally been. Of course, that may be because they got burned by some minor god they went out of their way to assuage in their first game. After that, if they were in this situation, they'd be looking for a more pliable field god to promote and a new signature crop for Jiara after they burned all the asparagus they could find - or at least threatening to do so.

The final episode of act 1 is now available: http://thestorytold.libsyn.com/fall-of-jiara-23

This one was a blast to play out and I think all the characters get some cool spotlight moments. We are going to be taking a break from airing episodes to prepare up for act 2. We originally started out 1-2 sessions ahead of the episodes we were airing, but with scheduling, holidays, and other unforeseen delays, we ended up getting into a real editing treadmill getting episodes out every two weeks. The break will let me build up a buffer of episodes again, reintroduce the player interviews at the beginning of the episodes, and offer an entry point at the beginning of act 2 for new listeners to jump in. We'll be back in a couple months!

                Hey ElfSpeaker,

You're welcome, I believe in letting people know that their hard work is appreciated, especially if they offer it all for free. Glad if stuff like this keeps your motivation up, then I reached my goal

Sorry for the late response, but I do not frequent this forum that often and I had to switch computers on top of that. But it is all sorted out now ^^
Thanks for the heads up. I don't really know discord all that well but I'm sure I'll take a look. A guest-role would be an honor. Although fair warning, English is not my mother-tongue (I'm sure it shows in writing as well).

Thanks again for sharing your stories with us!

Oh. Oh! The story is getting back on track.

They've just released a Summary of Act One, with each player recounting highlights of the adventure from their character's perspective.

Thank you for posting! I knew I had missed somewhere. We'll be returning to our usual schedule of releasing every two weeks. Like many things, the show got delayed by COVID.

                      Question(s) regarding Shao Dun.
                      1) what is his rank? In Act One he’s consistently regretted to as a winglord, though the context in Episode 1 would imply he’s a talonlord (you skipped scale when going up the unit sizes), and in the recap he’s referred to as a dragonlord.
                      2) he has the beard and the halberd of one of his Romance inspirations, the name of the other, and the unswerving loyalty of both. When is he going to lose an eye to complete the theme?

Also, thanks so much for bringing this Actual Play to us.

Woops! That's my mistake. He was winglord and in the intervening time, I forgot. I'll make sure we go back to that. He shuld be a winglord rather than a talonlord. He had command over all the military forces of Meara's expedition. Only one ship accompanied them to Jiara, which limits the toops on hand. But I was thinking in the navy, the expedition captain would be dragonlord and the marine commander would be winglord regardless of exact numers. (That's my head conan anyway.)

Shao is indeed an homage to the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, which Jeremy has read several times. I'm only passingly familar, but thanks to your input, I'll have to start aiming for the eye!

                          Such mixed feelings...

On the one hand, delight, because this is the best actual play I've ever listened to for any game ever. Audio, story, chemistry -- all top notch.

On the other hand, despair, I have no time to listen to podcasts (as I said way back in June 2019). I only got the chance to become a fan when I was communiting to school (which remains closed due to Covid).

Here's hoping school opens again in September!

Excellent. Starting off act two with a tasty aperitif.

The crew has split up for four Downtime vinegrettes with character building and plot seeding a plenty.

Crafting. Politics. Spying. Training. Action! Romance? Exploration. All the noice things.
