I had a great rodent-based Lunar in a game a few years ago.

Successes: That character, and his solution to the First Age spiders that kept rebuilding the bad guy's citadel.

Failures: My attempt at an Ability-based Lunar charmset. (Homebrew system didn't use the standard Attributes.)

I would love to know how you tried to approach that.

I made a pacifistic princess Lunar once.

I ran around convincing Abyssals to fight for Love and Friendship.

I made a 2e lunar once. It ate and shagged things a lot.

Successes: Shagging, eating, being different things
Failures: A nagging sense of deja vu

                I played a Lunar once.

I liked her. Got a three-dice stunt which my ST narrated as "when suddenly FUCKING LUNAR."

Bits and pieces of Exalted setting.

I'm not sure I have the notes anymore, but I'll try and remember any interesting details. Mostly, it was an attempt at "this Ability can be clearly used for a Lunar-y thing; can we make a new Charm out of it?"

The reason we ended up in the Attribute situation in the first place was that all of the players had initially said they wanted to play Solars, but one of them later flipped through the art book and decided Lunars were too cool for school. So I attempted to build a stealth-and-gnawing Lunar template based on the rules I'd already done for Solars.

When I say "failure," I might be being too harsh. We actually had very few mechanical problems, it just always felt like the Solar Charms (which ran closer to the canonical ones) flowed more easily.

My second-ever Exalted character was a Lunar. Only all we had back then was the core book and Storyteller's Guide. It was pretty sweet! I had all these recolored Solar charms with the few limitations placed on Lunars by the existing canon (Celestial circle sorcery maximum, dice-adder cap limited to attributes) and a pretty radical batch of physical bonuses for the warform (as per then-unnamed Magnificent Jaguar's [I think!] stat block).

Then I chose to play a No Moon, which was less supported by the then total lack of Lunar support.

I have been compelled to use Lunars in a game on my own volition only once in my threeish? years of running Exalted. It was in a Modern Sidereals game where the Lunar in question was the mate of the party's Infernal handler. I had originally planned to use him as the go-between but he really only got screen time as just some guy, and also as a house cat on the order of his mate.

                        Alas.

Lunars are awesome, once we can figure out what they actually are/do. I'm willing to take that on faith.

What isn't awesome, is Lunar Bond/Bond/Past Life Attachment. It's worse than Samsara combined with the Reclamation combined with Scion 1E's mechanics.

so i've never actually gotten to play exalted before but if i ever get the chance i plan on running a lunar, probably full moon caste. i'll assume (hope) that they wouldn't be a bad splat to be playing as as an introduction to exalted, yeah?

I hope to get a 3Ex game up and running in the new year and hopefully some time after that I'll be able to play as a character while someone else runs the game. That way I can play as the Full Moon Lunar who has been haunting my brain for the last four months.
