Oof, $150 with shipping for both books to Ireland. But how could I resist! Dragons! And maybe Scion will be the key to bring me back to the Mythos after years of avoiding it

Is that in US$? Because if so, that isn't much cheaper what I have to pay to get it here in Australia...which feels wrong. Europe in general gets that kind of thing cheaper because it usually is set up better to receive stuff. Maybe Onyx Path got a raw deal, or my country is catching up?

Shipping costs have been rising quickly over the last few years. OPP isn't shipping enough books overseas to get economies of scale. So, they're stuck paying normal shipping rates for things, which are not cheap.

What we know from the podcast about Scion: Masks of the Mythos (MotM for short)...

• MotM is the Scion horror expansion book that expands the setting with a cosmic horror.

• MotM assumes that the Great Old Ones and other Cthulhu Mythos exist in the World with normal Gods - but actually operate outside of reality, outside of normal rules. Divinity is their metaphor for existence, but they actually exist outside of these principles. There are no Mythos Titans - they are all Titans-like to other deities.

• There are 13 Great Old Ones Patrons in MotM.

• The Scions of the Mythos have a dark, twisted Fate - and they infect the world around with it. Most are Chosen (by the Stars) or Created - only a few are Born.

• Most of the game is about finding a balance between your human half - and the cosmic terror you bring to the world. 'Dark Hero' to say that. A bit like the Scions of the Titans. Only you corrupt the World by your presence.

• The Scions of Mythos do not have a Legend - they have an Awareness instead - although they generally do the same. Besides, they receive a different version of Purviews and Callings.

• MotM, following the tradition of the normal Call of Cthulhu RPG, extends the Procedurals rules to turn Scions into investigators and researchers of the Lovecraft canon and others. ❤

Yeah, that's in USD. Costs for the last few KS have just been high like that, but this time of course I had to pledge more to get both books. I'll live though!

I don't know which to back Dragon interest me more but the art in Mythos I feel is better. I am not digging the characters I have seen for dragon but I am all about those mythos guys.

Short sum-up of Dragons Flights:
‘• Draqs – Grouped mostly in the Middle East, these Dragons seek vengeance for the loss of Tiamat, who they consider the progenitor of all Dragons.

• Joka – Dragons found primarily in northern and western Africa and known for their intense hunger. Their hunger has driven them toward ambitions, and a return to a time before Gods.

• Lindwurms – European dragons are grouped as Lindwurms, though it is a term primarily used for Dragons from the Nordic nations, as well as Eastern European dragons. They seek knowledge and power in lieu of lost memories.

• Lóng – Lóng encompass mostly east Asian Dragons, though also includes Polynesia and the Philippines. This Flight is the largest and most disparate, though they seek fame, glory, and to replace the pantheons.

• Naga – The Naga are primarily located in southeast Asia, though they have members across Asia and Europe as well. Naga seek knowledge and a way to reopen their Terra Incognita where members of their Flight are trapped.

• Serpents – Serpents are mostly found in the Americas, though also in the Pacific Islands and Australia. These Dragons care about the natural parts of The World and humanity. They seek to teach and uplift humanity to cleanse The World, or otherwise remove those who can’t be taught.

Stretch goals indicate a new Flight made of legendary turtles and I'm glad this KS is doing well cause I NEED this

I like the Flights. There seems to be a lot of room for diverse motivations and how those might manifest.

And I also want turtles.

if there ends up being a second additional Flight, I'm hoping maybe for sea monsters.

For Chronicles of Darkness fans - Scion: Dragon, from my reading of Introduction preview, seems a lot like Beast: Primordial, minus problematic elements of it. ( Hungers, teaching 'Lessons', all those stuff. )
