So the W5 blog update for forms and auspices dropped: https://www.worldofdarkness.com/news...ices-and-forms
The only thing that stands out for me?

"The lupus form is that of a regular-sized wolf. Indeed, it might easily be mistaken for a German Shepherd or other common dog in certain areas (particularly where wolves are infrequent visitors…). "

Someone did not do research XD

I'd say the idea of Glyphs as a pictographic language is well and truly buried looking at these Glyphs, no one is carving these with Crinos claws unless they've got a good half hour on a flat surface.

The lupus description is a bit odd and Hispo was previously a damn sight bigger than any dog but most of the fluff seems similar....

Looks like shapeshifting might rely solely on Rage and it might be much easier to lose and therefore lose access to shifting....but thats just based on one sentence so could be wrong.

I live in the middle of nothing on the eastern alps.
I deal with wolves every winter, they periodically slaughter mountain goat and deers right in front of my house. I almost lost my dog more than one time, and it is huge. Saying that they did not research it's kinda kind, gentle, and reductive.
Their statement is embarrassing and extremely dumb.

A 40kg wolf with winter fur , its 40 kg of muscle and good fat, that looks like 60 and more kg, in an elegant and long body, that makes it even bigger.

I'm not asking developers to see a true wolf in real life, but maybe take a look to a fucking german shepherd , actually.

Part of the re-imagination is that the fifth form is now called "Canis" XD...

I mean, if they allowed wolfdog/coywolves/etc. sure. I'd not even be mad because most US wolves ARE mixes.

But come on, Google is free.

It's probably just a extra way for werewolves to be sneaky

Hispo being ' a big dog' is kinda.....well, I guess if they're counting Clifford it works.

As much as I agree, WoD is STILL set in mostly our world. Unless the dog of WoD5 are HUGE or the wolves tiny, this just reads like a bad case of research failure. Which, given just how on point WtA has been about wolves, is a downgrade.

That certainly would be a re-imagination if you were to turn one form into a stealthy "dog-form" and the dire-wolf-form is now replaced with a genuine wolf-form.

That aside, at the beginning, the blog-post says: "In game terms, if your tribe is what you do, your auspice is how you do it. It’s a different set of verbs, but those verbs reflect your approach" But looking at the verbs chosen for the Tribes and looking at the verbs for the Auspices calling them a "different set" seems a bit of a stretch. That whole verb-thing isn't as informative/representative as Justin Achilli seems to believe in my opinion. Maybe it the choices had been stricter with what verbs were chosen, there could be some value to this but as-is I don't really see any value in it. There's certainly overlap between Auspiece-verbs and Tribe-verbs.

"Every Garou (well, every Garou who’s a player’s character, and most Garou antagonists, too) has a tribe and an auspice."

We are getting our own Pure?

                            It also says...

Indeed, some Garou lean into the Rage and monstrosity of being a werewolf… but they haven’t exactly advanced Gaia’s cause, and may in fact be working against her.
Guess this is the route we're gonna go with the "The Get are fallen"-thing.

                              So, yeah, garou without auspice.

I hate to be so harsh, but boy does that play foul on the metaphysics. The reason the Uratha auspice can be removed is that Luna in that game is not a neutral party offering aid/reflecting Gaia's anger. She is a powerful spirit like any other and her gifts are gifts of agreement. The Pure can wash that away, because auspice is not such an important part of being a werewolf.

But in WtA, auspice is something you have at birth and is part of being a garou as much as your breed is. Luna is a major deity to the garou and the universe, far more powerful than the Forsaken Luna.

The copying of WtF is getting rather silly, ngl.
