I know judging a book by the cover is something we're not supposed to do. But this cover is so beautiful

It is, and it uses the elements I love about WtA; The forest vs its destruction.

Given how HEAVILY the forest imagery is used vs the stated focus, I'm guessing the cover is not matching the insides XD

I will be passing on this. Not to crap on anyone else who might legitimately like the changes and focus of this "reimagining", but it strays too far from the game I know and love to be interested in it personally.

I like the cover as well but I'm far more curious about finally getting a glimpse at the mechanics of this game on Thursday.

Otherwise, the blurb does offer some insight into the premise of W5 (or, I guess, just confirms stuff we've already heard last year):

            Gaia is dying.

The ices melt, while the seas swell.

The heat rises, while the forests wither.

Extinction threatens millions, in favor of the few.

The Garou — warlike shapeshifters torn between Rage and spirit, between Wolf and Man, and champions of the earth-mother — have failed.

            The Apocalypse is here.

Yet, a new generation of Garou now call upon their Rage to confront the forces of destruction, avarice, and greed ravaging the earth-mother. With tooth and claw the Garou will wrest her from the brink of death — or follow her enemies to the grave.

            Will you answer their howl?

What legends will the Garou sing of you?

            When will you Rage?

            Features:
            • As a new generation Garou, you will confront the forces of destruction, avarice, and greed ravaging the earth-mother.
            • Utilize the 5th edition Storyteller system to create your chronicles within the World of Darkness.
            • Includes everything you need to know to build your own character or guide a troupe as they explore their new forms.
            • As a werewolf, build your legend, vie for renown, and fight to take back what has been lost.
            • Join one of eleven tribes, each unique and rich with narrative depth for players to explore, and Storytellers to utilize.
            • This 300+ page hardcover book also includes an introductory story to guide new Werewolf players and veteran World of Darkness enthusiasts through their first game.
There's some new info, though. The book has 300+ pages (in comparison, V5 (extended version) has 430 pages and H5 has 288 pages). But of course that's minus all the stuff that got covered in the Expanded Mechanics pdf. And I guess the premise really seems to rely on the idea that the reason the Garou-PCs are better than the older Garou who have failed is that they're "a new generation".

I Super respect that. And I'd like to take a moment to apologize for moemnts in the past where I didn't respected that.

Gonna play wait and see. If it has ideas and mechanics I can use I might grab it but I'm not taking any more leaps of faith after v5 anarch.

Likewise, and with Paradox's treatment of the og fan base and the limitations of hobby money to spend I can't see myself buying it.

Not returning to the forums, just stopping in for a moment. CofD not getting books so we can get fed WoD5e is an insult.

Are we migrating the discussion of W5 to this thread or are we going to keep it over in the Q&A one?

I don't really see myself buying it but I am curious on what it says from a morbid angle.

I loved the cover, but I also think it's a huge mistake. The claws on the sides of the image should absolutely not be there given the Internet and memes.

Took me a minute to get that one, made me chuckle once I did.

According to someone on the rpg.net thread on the same topic, Outstar mentioned that the Fianna got renamed. Hopefully the GoF did as well, but...

Just a fair warning (and why I didn't just say that): For anyone that's managed to avoid goatse, it is an old and incredibly NSFW meme. Many people will want some brain bleach handy if you decide to go look up what on Earth we're talking about.

I must confess that while I know what goatse is it didn't occur to me seeing the cover.
