  • Genius the transgression fit perfectly into the God Machine Story ?

I have been reading Genius the transgression for some time and have been wanting to play it. Today I was thinking about it and it seems like Genius the transgression falls perfectly in line with how the god machine runs the world.

I was thinking to myself what if some geniuses are the people who came into contact with the intelligence of the god machine and forever changed from it. Demons call them stigmatic but they are different they not just saw the face of the god machine but understood it and can now manipulate it and make it work for them.

Maybe the God Machine hates these geniuses and hunt them because of how they can really mess with its plans. That would explain why there are so few.
or maybe it makes them some times to build things for it.

Then even more what if the god machine is in and of itself a genius creation that changed the world and took control out of its masters hands ?

I would like to hear some of your thoughts on this.

Sure, why not. The GM and how you define it for your chronicle is your choice. If you want it to be a literal Machine, an avatar of dark science made up of strange elements and unholy fire, an underlying principle of the forbidden laws of the world, Genius may seem like a good match.

Obviously you are not neccessarily meant to take the "machine" in "God Machine" literally, and anoher interpretation of the GM could be a match for, for example, Vampires.
The GM's modus operandi there isn't really anything scientific or mechanical, it's reality alteration. (case could be made to match it to Mage?)
Of course, it is supposedly, mad, which does seem like something that could fuel "mad" science.

If you think that Inspiration (Genius' fuel stat) originates from the God-Machine, sure, that's an interesting story. Supposedly the GM is just an extra layer of reality away all the time, so the principle would exist everywhere (stronger in places with more Infrastructure, though) and could spill over into reality inall kind of forms, even in people's minds. In some games this may take the form of prophetic visions and dreams, but it's perfectly likely that some people would go mad, or even enthralled, Renfield-style. If you want Geniuses to work this way, cool, whatever.

What you could think about here if you wanted to run this is how being tied to the GM affects Genius powers. Because if this is only borrowed power that really is the GM's then aesthetically and philosophically it'd tie to it. Essentially you're taking a very grim and dark entity's powers, so even if you turn it around and twist it, inklings of the original source would remain.

My view is the exact opposite. The God Machine is all about The Plan. Specifically, The God Machine's Plan. You can work with The Plan, you can fight The Plan, you can be an unknowing pawn of The Plan. But what you can't do is ignore how everything revolves around The Plan.

Genius on the other hand, as it's central theme, has the idea that no one is in charge, no one is in control, (no one has any money either). Plans are for fools who don't realise or can't accept how utterly large, chaotic and uncontrollable the world really is. The Secret Masters had every advantage, modern super-science and utter control of the world thought all of history, and look where it got them.

Sure you can change it, but to me Geniuses are the natural enemies of the God Machine. The random element it couldn't plan for, and which likes to tamper in god's domain. (Pretty similar to Promethians actually)

Sounds like that'd be the central story in a GM/GtT chronicle.

Once is happenstance. Twice is coincidence. Three times is enemy action. Four times is Infrastructure.

Rule #2: Never let the game-mechanics get in the way of a good story.

Another take on the Matter is , to turn the Genius-stuff into an anti-Demon , Hunter Faction with the supreme Goal to find and literal reprogramm the GM to their own ends .

But how much would it takes to turn the most overpowered major template into hunters?

That's what I was thinking also. That is why I said maybe the god machine hunts them, because they subvert the rules just flat out ignoring them.

I should get round to writing them. (Basically, I stole everything from The Matrix and turned Zion into a Tier 4 Hunter Org). Not my most creative idea, but a fun one.

Interestingly enough, this is the exact same reason why the God Machine hates Demons. They're the Chaos to its Order.

I need to have a genius and a demon work together. The Genius is Q and the Demon in 007 lol

This would be and awesome someone really needs to to rewrite or update genius because it seems to me like the guy who made it disappeared or got another job.

He's still around. He's just not working on Genius.

And don't look at me. I'm not good enough to rewrite Genius, not at all.

                          Rewriting Genius?

When I have time, I'll make a conversion document.

Next time I'll have time is... maybe Thursday?

I have decided, after some thought, that I don't really feel happy on these forums. I might decide to come back to post. Who knows - but right now, I'm gone.

So good bye, good luck, and have a nice day.

I am just wondering how does bardos and clock stopper effect the godmachine and his group as well as a genius unmada field.
