  • Merits [Changeling 2e Preview]

    *looks around*

...ok, I guess I'll do this one then.

Shiny new preview, this time offering a glimpse at some of the Changeling-exclusive Merits.

How many of them are new or altered? I recognized some, but only gave it a quick scan.

Comments on the page references something about how Elemental Warrior has been nerfed from previous iterations. That's as far as I know.

To be fair about that (it was my observation), the original seemed a bit too powerful, and this version is working on a slightly different perspective. That was the only one that jumped out to me, but there might be some other differences in the remaining previewed styles. Diviner and Parallel Lives are new, far as I remember, and both rather interesting.

Fae Mount has a problem, it meantions that many legs increases your steeds speed, but the Fae Mount's base speed isn't stated.

So we need a base speed, which if its going to mask itself as a car, should be as fast as a car.

I'm just asking this for confirmation:
This isn't the totality of the Changeling merits, right?

Oh. Just noticed at the top that it said it wasn't. Nevermind.

I'm assuming Dream Combat works radically different now, because otherwise Dream Warrior is just a bad version of Interdisciplinary Speciality.

I'm assuming Fae Mount can only go up to 5 dots? So each Fae Mount can have only a maximum of five of those listed traits?

                      Just confirming.

Yeah, it's capped at five dots. I could see houseruling it to be a motley Merit that allows more than 5 dots to be contributed collectively, so that you could stack on more traits and come up with some kind of truly epic fae beast that's bonded with all of the members, but that's not what it is by default.

I'm definitely more in favor of this iteration of the Fae Mount compared to the previous one, where you needed to get the merit to certain levels before you could get certain traits. This is far more freeform.

One question though: Burdenback implies that the Fae Mount can only carry a number of individuals with that merit. Does that mean that the benefits of Burdenback are on top of its normal carrying capacity? If not that gets very confusing as to how it works as a mount.

Yes, the benefits of Burdenback are in addition to the mount's normal carrying capacity. I'll make a note to tweak that language when the book comes back from editing.

I liked Diviner better before, getting clues instead of the typical yes/no questions. Also, dreamweaver seems kind of pricy for what it does.
