I'm really curious about the mention of poltergeists as monsters. I wonder if that means we're going to see ghosts using the standard monster rules, instead of ephemeral entities.

Or they finally incorporate Ephemerals rules in Hunter, as ghosts, spirits and even 'demons' ( those from 1E corebook ) are better run as those than 'fleshy' monsters ( by Horrors rules ).

They haven't confirmed yet which way they plan to go.
In response to my question in the comments thread, Monica Valentinelli said "We are exploring this, since many urban legends are essentially poltergeists. Nothing has been confirmed yet, though."

        So, it might happen.

I hope not. Then we wouldn't have anyone in the "hunts for profit" niche.

just wanted to note that 1E already had a section about creating new organizations in the corebook, included with potential ideals. Also, Hunter of all other gamelines seemed to encourage making your own splats for your games, publishing new major splats (and not sub splats) in supplements and offering potential groups for readers to homebrew. The best example for this is Glimpses of the Unknown- most of the gamelines in there got something in the style of new Rite or some cool power. Hunter got new splat in the form of the Heritage House.

Still, I agree that having a section about it in 2E is an important thing, especially since most of my homebrew is Hunter groups of all kinds.

you know, talking about the Heritage House has just made me understand how much Monica took upon herself and her team- the core book only gives us 12 splats. Each of the 4 specialist books gives us another 4- so another 12. Then we have 2 more from Slasher, 4 more from Mortal Remains to which 3 more are going to be added with the upcoming Beast chapter, Dark Eras adds 4 from Doubting Souls and 5 from Fallen Blossom. If we also include groups published from outside the regular Hunter line, we have another 3 to the mix. To this we add one new conspiracy and two new compacts- which is about 48 different groups. I don't know how "sort" would the sort writeups be, but even as only small paragraphs and removing some historic groups or other orgs it is still a considerable amount of wordcount and a lot of hard work.

In sort, all of the Hunter fans should take a moment to say a huge "thank you" to Monica.

talking about the sort writeups- I wonder if they would be expanded later. Having a full supplement just to update old groups or something feels a bit like a waste to me, since we already have their old versions and with the sort writeups (which may detail how to fit the new edition) and the "organization building" tools, I assume it is a bit redundant, and there may be better ways to spend word count. Perhaps a few would be published as blog posts, like the Gimu (which didn't got the Dark Eras) or certain Bloodlines from Vampire?

I'm really curious as to the extent of the "tailored gameplay" mentioned in Chapter 4 of the outline. Will we see more Hunter-specific mechanics to differentiate them from corebook mortals?

That's a good point. Thankyou Monica.

Question, for Monica, or anyone else who's read something I missed or remembers something I've forgotten. Are the slashers in 2nd edition going to have the same Undertakings, different Undertakings, or be built individually? What about the Ripper/Scourge divide?

I'm really exited about mysterious places since I have been planning on doing a living haunted house for awhile now. The Slasher phenomenon kind of ties in with my Homebrew world's plot hook for my monsters that Hunters are becoming more numerous than ever and humanity as a whole seemed to be catching on to more of the truth about monsters(I.E they'll be quicker to use silver on the big wolf creature, they'll know fire is good against vampires etc.) and that can be easily tied in to an influx of slashers. I hope that the "creating a monster" rules will have more standardized suggestions and powers for the classic archetypes.
