    Well, we got this!

Really exciting things, I have to say!

I'm liking the new, more standardized structure for Conspiracy Endowments. Seems very easy to mock up your own in short order using this system.

And Monica continues to be awesome. This looks pretty neat. Does anyone want to do a quick playtest PbP game in the forums?

Okay, I made some quick copies of the Playtest Document so that there is a version for Players and ST's that contains only the information those people need. It may help a bit.

Cool! I want to read the bits on Slashers, and I've run forum games before, so assuming this will be a (relatively) short one, I can ST it.

I haven't read through it all yet, but do we actually need the Chronicles Core book specifically? I don't have it (yet, i grabbed the PDF with Dark Eras 2) but I do have other lines corebooks that have most of the same system content (Vampire, Beast, Mage, Demon (with the 1e corebook as well)) minus investigations, crafting, etc.

Unless you want to use the Clues subsystem, which the playtest recommends you don't, I think you could manage it using Beast or Mage.

So I just had an idea. With some minor adjustments to backstory and skills, you could make the Playtest into a Doubting Souls game pretty easily! Any other Dark Eras this would work with?

It does seem odd that an Exceptional Success on a Breaking Point is basically worse than a normal success. Obsession isn't particularly useful (9 again isn't very helpful in the best of circumstances, and here it would mean you lose 10 again when not perusing one specific monster) and the Addiction is basically a straight-up penalty (both mechanics and story wise). In comparison, Violent and Vendetta are situational very useful (I am sure there are hunters who would set themselves on fire for +2 dice, though the Drawbacks are pretty costly). Willpower is always nice though.

Might be a thematic choice, but it does mean the noble well-adjusted high Resolve/Composure police officer acting to protect a Touchstone at great personal could come out worse than Random Cheiron mook #317 gunning for a paycheck with mediocre stats.

Well, not necessarily worse, the goal is to tell a story, not keep as high an Integrity as possible. They'd be reinforced by their Code but zealously so and it could push them to extremes.

I'm guessing it's a way to keep hunters from always being 'regular Joe that isn't affected by anything they do because they had a high Resolve.'

That's exactly what I said, too. Exceptional Success should result in something that's more healthy, at least, not a preview of you as a slasher.

Maybe something like Focused: The hunter has a moment where they understand intellectually why they are different from the monsters and normal killers, and that gives them a bonus to risking Willpower by restored faith in their mission, but a penalty to other rolls until used.

Most of the Code breaks seem like they are things a slasher would do, though.
