  • 1001 Hunter Story Hooks

    (Saw this was lacking!)

    1) Something went seriously wrong with the PC's last hunt. There was a witness that they failed to notice! The PC's know that their prey was only hiding in the form of a human, but the witness doesn't, and ended up reporting them to the police. 24 hours later, their faces appear on the news saying they're wanted for murder, and there is a reward for their capture! As if the mortal bounty hunters weren't enough trouble, the remaining supernatural creatures in the city now know the identities of the hunters. And worst of all, what will their friends and family think when they find out their loved ones are violent psychopaths?

    2) There's a new huntress in the city who's methods of exterminating the supernaturals is far away from being subtle. When confronted, she says that the reason these monsters get away with their crimes is because humans don't know they exist. She plans to blow the secret and let the whole world know the truth. Now the PC's are faced with a dilemma. Do they let her reveal the truth and send the entire world into a panicked frenzy, or do they decide to eliminate one of their own and allow these monsters to continue manipulating the people to their whims?

    3) The PC's all had the same mentor. He trained them, designed their equipment, taught them everything they know about how to hunt. So when he suddenly vanishes for a few months, they grow concerned and begin tracking him down. When they finally locate their mentor, they won't like what's become of him...

A new club has opened downtown, which a very exclusive lineup. Guests seem to be picked almost randomly, out of the city's young and lively movers-and-shakers. Each nights activities leaves their participants tired and weary, without much memory of the past nights debauchery. It must have been a hell of a time too, because its almost as if the worm-out party guests seem physically older...

5: Rumors out of Detroit aren't pretty. Something is stalking the city's abandoned neighborhoods, grabbing the homeless and streetwalkers and turning them into rampaging psychotics. The police have kept a lid on it, making up stories about synthetic drugs, but that won't last forever when the journalists start homing in. Worse, stories are cropping up that this is happening in other cities as well. If Detroit is the source, time to hit the Motor City.

Actually, that's pretty par for the course for Detroit...

            7. It turns out that the most powerful "witches" in town are a group of really good stage magicians. Only your cell knows their secret.

            8. An angel arrives in town and utterly destroys the heinous cult running the show. As the only organised group left standing it seems like the Hunter's are running the show, while a power vacuum promises interesting times.

            9. A prophetess of Isis is publicly performing magical healing to rekindle faith in her goddess.

              10. a single member from each conspiracy or major compact is getting a letter inviting him or her (and up to four more members to his choosing) to come for a special "ball", where he or she would be used as a representative of his or her organization and there they would discuss for the option to make some sort of a "global alliance" of all hunters in the world. No one knows who sent the invitations, and all of the organizations deny being the ones behind that. While it may be suspicious, the different leaders show great interest in the event and out a lot of pressure on the "guests" to go to the ball. Who is the one behind this event? Is it a trap? And why you of all the members of your organization were chosen?

maybe instead of teasing about them, post their conspiracy write up already? I'm still waiting to see that Ivanovich you talked about, and I don't want them to join KSI21 as a Russian conspiracy which was never fully written :P

                  also:

                  12) A new group of hunters has entered your turf, and they don't look friendly- especially with all of their tattoos and heavy motorcycles. They claim to seek after someone, and they are willing to reward anyone who would help them find him. The problem- according to their description, their target is your best friend. They claim him to be a demon- but you sure they are wrong. After all, you'll notice if he was replaced by a soul stealing monster right?... Right?..

13: Local police are struggling to contain a gang of white supremacist jackasses, which normally shouldn't be even an issue. The local socioeconomic situation is well enough that they shouldn't be able to recruit so easily. Is this supernatural, or is your cell blind to a bigger problem?

14: They call him Jeffy, the vampire slayer. A highschool student who spends his nights patrolling the city and exterminating any monsters he comes across. Sounds like a promising young Hunter, right? Well the PC's have heard disturbing rumors about the members of Jeffy's cell. Including a female werewolf named Zo, a gay warlock named Reed, and worst of all, Jeffy's in love with a vampiress named Devil, who claims to have regained her soul.

It seems like Jeffy is getting a little too friendly with the very things he's supposed to be killing. How do the PC's decide to resolve this situation?

(thought this up spur of the moment. )

15: An ally of your cell turns out to be three goblins sharing a trench coat.

16: An elderly rabbi collapses on the street. In hospital it turns out that he has lost his wits; he's spent the last sixty years building an army of golems to march on the holy land and end the Jewish diaspora, he's somehow completely oblivious that Israel even exists. The doctors have given him weeks to live, that means you've got weeks to find a solution before an army of nearly unstoppable clay automatons go on a rampage.

17: (Athenic Church only) You were talking to Minerva through prayer when Archangel Michael attacks Minerva's palace. She went to battle, leaving you to return to your body. You have no blessings, no divine guidance and no idea what to do next. (A game I've wanted to see for a while is the Athenic Church vs an alien invasion; just so that the purely technological aliens could attack Minerva's palace when the player least expect it)

I gave it a try and hit a brick wall; sorry. That said, don't hold your breath for Ivanovich. Like Bauldino he isn't planned to get much of a write up. I see him as quite similar to Santa from Rise of the Guardians. A fun loving Russian badass to parallel the one time we saw Bauldino on screen (like all Ghosts, his personality was frozen when he died and he wasn't a hunter until his last few days so the Vigil never wears him down)

18: (Union only) The local teamsters are making talk about striking against a certain big box store, creating the biggest strike against the retailer yet in your area. Some more politically minded members of the compact are hoping to use the strike as a cover, causing mayhem against other nationwide chains they're convinced are trying to destroy the workers. Your job: try to focus their anger somewhere else that doesn't involve innocent people getting blown up.
