    Hey! Been a bit. Kinda got burnt out for a while after picking up a very intense job with long shifts. Anyways I'm back now, and I making this a place for my new niche legacy ideas.

    Comments, Criticisms and Concerns are welcomed and appreciated.

    So, I made some Mage Legacies here, with some help. They vary in quality, but I hope you take a look at them. Every one contains pieces of me, for better or worse.

      Nimbus Spinners
      A legacy of Nimbus Artists

      Nicknames: The Crowned, Coronals, Spinners, Pollyannas (Derogatory)
      Organization: The Spinners are often social, and many maintain regular contact with other Spinners, to discuss techniques, new Nimbus related phenomena or to give and receive criticism. Small groups sometimes form, but many prefer to do their actual work by themselves. A dedicated cabal is unheard of, many instead attach themselves to other cabals.

      Many Spinners are involved in the trade of Magic Services, adding decorations only visible to Mage Sight to Sanctums and examining and advising others on shaping the Nimbus. some even act as detectives, deducing how and why a mysterious Nimbus appears the way it does.
      Theory: The Nimbus is the most Sublime Medium
      Background: The legacy is thought to quite old, but little remains of the original Artworks. The Legacy's modern origins are traced to a Nimbus weaved Banner, containing the combined Nimbuses of a Cabal. Many Members of the Legacy are eccentric, due to the requirements of methods of shaping their own Nimbus. Anyone can join the legacy, as the Initiation is well know to the boarder Awakened community.


      Parentage: Obrimos; Free Council, Silver Ladder
      Ruling Arcanum: Prime
      Yantras: Thematic Nimbus Imprints (+1), Mundane Artist Tools(+1), Imago Modifies or examines the Nimbus (+1), success on an Expression roll relating to the spell (+2)
      Oblations: Detailed Planning of New Art, Examining a New Nimbus, Giving Heartfelt Artistic Criticism

      Prerequisites: Prime 2, Taste (Nimbus Art), Expression 2, Occult Specialty (Nimbus)
      Initiation: Creating your first Nimbus Art, and Scrutinizing it

      Working deeply with Nimbuses gives an Spinner insight into what gives the Nimbus it's form.

      COMMENTARY: The artist should know their paints

      One Learns quickly that the canvas is almost as Important to Artwork as the Artwork itself

      Casting Time = Ritual

      COMMENTARY: Really only the basic Space spell that fits, a Artist needs to see their work from every angle .

      The Spinner Makes Nimbus Art out of their own Nimbus
      Supernal Signature
      Duration = Unique (Lasts like a normal Nimbus Impression)
      Potency = Prime
      Scale = All extra factors to Scale

      Casting Time = Instant (Reach to Instant Casting)

      NOTE: Creates artwork form the Nimbus. The shape and details of the signature, as long as it related to the themes of the nimbus. For example, one with a Nimbus of an angel protector may make angelic statues, shields, feelings of warmth and safety, or the sensation that one is being watched over, perhaps all at the same time. The artwork can create emotional conditions, much like other kinds of artwork.
      COMMENTARY: The first Artwork. (no, I couldn't think of a better name)

      Potency = N/A (1)
      Duration = Space
      Scale = All extra factors to Scale
      Range = Unique (Only targeting own Nimbus Art)
      Casting Time = Instant (Reach to Instant Casting)

      COMMENTARY: A Side spell, mainly to make the artwork more useful in and of it's self.


      Chose the Hue
      (Prime ●●●) Expression 4, 5 ● of Nimbus Merits
      The Spinner focuses and works their Nimbus into a new palette.
      Nimbus Forgery/Alter Nimbus
      Duration = Prime (Reach to Advanced Duration )
      Potency = Prime
      Scale = All extra factors to Scale
      Range = Touch
      Casting Time = Ritual
      Extra: (Reach to modify all three Nimbuses)

      COMMENTARY: Customize your nimbus. At this point the Nimbus should be rather powerful, and being able to freely customize it should be fairly potent. When combined with the second attainment, one can make art of anything. This blog might help with examples.

      Duration = Space (Reach to Advanced Duration )

      DESCRIPTION: Sometimes an artist do not want to be recognized, adding a bit of mystery to their work.

      COMMENTARY: An Extremely necessary spell. Making the Art less of a problem to spread around where one will. Remember, Imprinted Nimbuses aka how the art pieces work, have medium sympathy to the originator at minimum

      Empower Nimbus
      Duration = All extra factors to Duration (Reach to Advanced Duration)

      COMMENTARY: Kinda basic, I'd rather have the spell give Nimbus merit's, but a Spinner must have plenty of merits by this point, and i don't know if Potent nimbus should break it's cap

      Secrets and Storyhooks
      ● A well respected, but ageing Coronal has announced their retirement, along with their plans to more or less permanently move to a pocket dimension of their own creation, leaving their sanctum estate to their apprentice. Their apprentice, however seemingly wants nothing to do with the place, and privately seeks out several up and coming cabals to challenge them to find and return a specific Grimoire to them from inside the estate. Do that, and the Sanctum is theirs. What could possibly motivate the apprentice to give up such a prime location? What's in the Grimoire? How does one even make it past the foyer mobius strip?

      ● The local Spinner has gone rapt. At least that's what everyone assumes, when their Artwork all simultaneously burst open like a over ripe fruit, leaking raw Supernal energy into the nearby surroundings. Worse still, they appear to have been way way more productive than anyone thought, with their Art showing up in large quantities in the absolutely weirdest places. Some even reappear after being destroyed. No one can seem to find the Spinner, and people are starting to get desperate.

      Yes, I'm stealing Cauthon's formating style. No, I'm not ashamed.

      For those wondering "what is this? and why?", the answers are niche Nimbus Artists, and because why not. Really this is just an idea that popped into my head, and I wanted to share it. I find the Nimbus to be very cool, if a bit under utilized.

          Nimbus and space based art, an intriguing concept. The image that comes to mind is the game Antichamber. I could see these mages creating Sanctums that not only delight the resident cabal with wonders and puzzles perceivable only through Mage Sight, but also confound any invaders. They accomplish this with clever use of perspective and selective Bans and Keyed effects.


          New experiences are the font of creativity, when seeking inspiration, break your routine.

              Eidolon pocket dimension might be a way to do it, building Antichamber or Manifold Garden with careful sculpting.

                Antichamber? Lets look that...yeah, it's pretty much that. The Spinners aren't directly associated with the Arrow, but the few that wind up there often do extremely well at Sanctum defense. Seriously, these are the kind of people to make brain bending effects for fun. Never mind the fun game of "guess what's safe to examine, and what will give you a -12 spread around your stats and skills as a persistent condition", and spaces infused with spells that make even more conditions appear.

                Edit: I kinda intended for them to be rather unassuming at a first glance, but rather terrifying when one logically thinks out their powers.

                    Reflexive for Cloak Spell might be a bridge too far. It reads like Supernal Veil, so it'd might make sense as a rider that can be activated simultaneously with other Attainments. That would make it a bit of a weak Capstone tho...

                      The idea was that it can both hide stuff as a rider and after the fact. Not sure how to say that though.
                      Edit: there is at least one case of a spell being reflexive, that being Suppress Life. +2 Reach and a Mana as the cost.

                        What about including perfected poisons into the assassin's arsenal ? They could be tasteless, colorless and undetectable by mundane means, with a Toxicity equal to Potency.

                        Perhaps rather than Tamers, they could have been students of Micheletto. The famed assassin was a mage and needed agents to carry out the political machinations of Cezare Borgia, while simultaneously competing with the very best agents of the Medici.

                          Perfected Poison would be one of their Yantras, and Initiation. Honestly? Not sure where I would place it. Perhaps replace Hidden Hoard? Also, I had an idea of the Mana Toxin's effects not going away until the Mage Purged their System.

                          I'm going to just leave this here because the names are great.

                            On the topic of Perfected poisons, maybe something like the forced inability to comprehend symbols that you've mentioned before? "Posion a person's understanding", if you will?

                              I’d not recommend such; that sounds more like what the poison-mage whips up in her Imago for Prime/Mind Fraying/Unraveling spells, rather than actual Perfected poison.

                              Now, enchanted poison, on the other hand…
