Addicted to Mystery: What do you want to see in the Fallen World Chronicles?
I see it as the opposite, I don't see why the system should punish those who put all of their xp into Arcana by making it not enhance their ability to be better at the Arcana. As for being believable, to be quite honest, that is extremely believable to me. Can you really tell me that if you were to suddenly gain access to phenomenal cosmic power you wouldn't put your everything into mastering that? Why the hell would I go spear fishing or learn how to knit when I could be figuring out how to shoot lightning from my nose or teleport? I obsess pretty damn hard into being a damn good caster if I were to ever awaken.
Well, per what has been said about the new system, because I want to be able to do useful stuff that doesn't need to be prefaced with elaborate ritual preparation or carry the risk of Paradox.
Hey Dave; is part of the reason that some stuff like Mage Sight is being portioned off into things like Attainments because you want to preserve that feeling of mages being able to continuously feel like mages, while also letting spellcasting be something a bit less casual and overriding of all other approaches (as well as just reinforcing the theme of the arcane being something mysterious and a little bit dangerous)?
Unseen Senses are probably the biggest, most noticable change. The spoiling of which I'm saving for the first proper Dev Blog.
It's not even called Unseen Senses any more, to avoid confusion with the Merit.
Ah, that both is disappointing because I have to wait and exciting since it's being changed so much to the point of not being comparable with the merit. Good to know that's been enhanced, at any rate.
The majority of such cases are duplicating Merits (which you can totally do with magic) or playing on the fact that Attainments can be permenant, which isn't an issue for magic any more. I do rather like the handful of quirky Legacies that are left, though. We'll have to see.
Over on the Mummy thread is a guy saying the Fallen World Chronicle won't use Atlantis as part of the backstory anymore. Instead it will use some Egyptian city to crossover with Mummy?
I doubt the truth of it, but if it is true I don't get what the point is. Mummy is about thousand year-old crumbling ruins, Mage is about going anywhere in the world and finding alien geometry ruins from the Time Before. I don't think anyone is carrying torches and pitchforks anymore either, about hating Atlantis like when the game first came out
